More geek fun (this time in DVD format)
So, the History Channel Store is offering up to 50% off on assorted Ancient Civilizations DVDs through the end of the month. I love this, because I have trouble justifying buying movies, often, but this is educational, people. Yes. Even Jurassic Fight Club. (Hey, maybe especially Jurassic Fight Club!)
And I know it’s only mid-March, and I don’t want to alarm anyone or appear to be jumping the gun, here… I know that Father’s Day is a long way off, I do. But these are the sorts of DVDs that make great Father’s Day gifts for your favorite history buff.
Especially because then you can send the father in question and the kids off to watch, together, while you do something important like give yourself a pedicure. Or whatever.
Geek out!
Wizard of the Coast is doing a promo for a free deck of Magic: The Gathering cards.
If you’re already a Magic geek, enjoy! If you’re unfamiliar with Magic, think of Dungeons and Dragons in card form.
And if, like me, you have a son who loves all things which combine cards and mythical creatures, well, there’s some good mama points, right there.
Happy, um, Day-After-St.-Patrick’s-Day!
It looks like Kohls is doing another one-day shipping promo (although why today is anybody’s guess…): Today only (March 18th), ship your entire order for $4.99.
Kohls card holders can stack coupon codes MVCPICK15 (15% off) and MVC7868 (free shipping), too, for the best deal. Don’t have a Kohls card? Use NEW3422 for 10% off, anyway.
And the Clearance section is well-stocked, too. Not bad for a Wednesday.
Annie’s back in stock
Pssssst! A huge variety of eligible Annie’s Homegrown products are back in stock at Amazon for the 45% off promotion—just apply coupon code ANNHOME5 for 30% off and purchase via Subscribe & Save for another 15% off and free shipping.
(Yes, I did post this before. Almost everything was sold out, though, and now everything’s back in stock. Cheddar bunnies, here I come!) (Edited to add: Okay, I did the math and placed my order. The cheddar bunnies come to $12.71 shipped for 36 bags—$.35/serving.)
Not as good as a maid
I was all excited about this free sample of Tide Total Care until I realized that I still have to actually do the laundry. Then it was significantly less exciting. Still, free is free.
And I can probably trick my husband into doing the laundry.
Radio controlled ick
I don’t like insects. There, I said it. I just don’t. So, personally, I’d like my kid to have a giant remote-control insect about as much as I’d like to stick a fork in my eye.
But maybe that’s just me.
Anyway, if you’re feeling a bit more kindly towards our six-footed friends (and your kids), you might be interested to know that Best Buy is clearancing out their Hot Wheels NSECT R/C Bug Vehicles, and has them marked down to just $19.99. (The next-cheapest price at Amazon is $55.)
I’m sure they’re loads of fun. At your house.
Maybe a pot of gold kibble
Another St. Patrick’s Day deal for you: For 17 hours only, Petco is offering 17% off tons of products throughout their store!
Maybe Fido needs a little leprechaun to munch on, or something.
For next winter (or the rest of this one)
We all know that buying end-of-season is a great way to save big bucks, but then again, sometimes after a long, cold winter you just want to buy a pretty tank top, darn it. I understand.
But if you want to stock up for next year on the cheap, head on over to Target and peruse the women’s clearance sweaters. Tons of choices, including all of those hip short-sleeve-cardigan things that were so big this year. I never bought one because I feel like I prefer for my sweater to have actual sleeves, but for $5 or whatever maybe I’ll try a trend.
(Note: That link doesn’t go directly to the clearance sweaters. That link will give you $5 off your $50 purchase, and there isn’t a way for me to combine the coupon with a targeted link without causing a rift in the space-time continuum. I figured you’d rather have the coupon and can search for the sweaters, yourself. You’re welcome.)
Cross over
I used to live for old episodes of The Twilight Zone on television. What a great show that was for all of us sci-fi and mystery/horror fans.
Did you know that you can get the complete 28-DVD set from Amazon for under $100? That would be a great gift for a fellow fan.
(Make sure the card says: “You’re moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas.” Hee.)
Blow it up
No, not with explosives, or anything. Here at Want Not we do not condone violence. Unless it involves the last piece of cheesecake, or some other dire emergency.
But this is about hot air. (Insert your own joke here!)
If you’ve got an air mattress or pool toys or inflatable furniture or whatever, you just might want a super-cheap inflating pump to blow ’em up with. And really, at $1.99 shipped, this one is a no-brainer.
Which gives you more time to eat cake. See? I’m always thinking.
