Skip, hop or run for this price
Need a diaper bag? I’m not quite yet over being bitter about the fact that the Skip Hop Saddle Bag didn’t exist when my kids were babies, but I’m working on it.
Today at Amazon some colors are around just $12, which is a great price on an awesome bag. Pick one up for you, pick one up for a baby shower… just be glad they’re there, because back in my day we had to carry stuff in an ugly vinyl bag. Uphill, in the snow, both ways. (Too much?)
Pick a peck of paper
If you’re in need of a whole lot of paper, I’ve got the deal for you. (Hello, fellow home-office types! Let us unite, and print out many, many things!)
First, head on over to Office Depot and grab three cases of their Office Depot brand multipurpose paper. They’ll cost $43.99/case, for a total in your cart of $131.97.
Adding coupon code 16931697 gives you one of those boxes for free, so your total is now back down to $87.98. The addition of coupon code 84123692 will then give you another $20 off, bringing your total for 30 reams of paper down to $67.98, or less than $2.30/ream, delivered (free next-day delivery on all $50+ orders). That’s not bad at all, if you need 30 reams of paper.
The economy wants you to eat out more
Of course, no one can afford to eat out more often right now… right? Wrong! Restaurant.com to the rescue—through March 15th, 2009, use coupon code MENU to take 80% off your purchase, and you’ll be pocketing $25 dining certificates for just $2 each.
Know what that sounds like to me? Date night! (Someone please notify my husband. Thanks.)
Want a waterproof camcorder?
We have a Flip camcorder and love it. In fact, we love it so much, we ordered a waterproof casing for it so that we could play with it in and around the pool. But it leaked. So we ordered another one… which also leaked. We gave up. And we still love our Flip, in spite of that.
However, I’m intrigued by this replacement Gold Box Deal Amazon is offering, now. (It was a Pentax camera earlier, and they ran out, and now it’s this.) It’s a Sanyo Xacti E2 Digital Camcorder, and although it’s a bit bigger than the Flip, it’s completely waterproof, just as it is. Great reviews, and the Gold Box price is $149.99 shipped, which is about $50 less than anywhere else.
I’m intrigued.
Happy anniversary, Barbie
Look, I’m no huge fan of Barbie (says the not-very-tall, not-very-busty brunette…), but she is something of a cultural icon. And it’s her 50th birthday! And oddly enough, she still looks… well… like Barbie. Yes.
Okay, so, in honor of her anniversary, Mattel is issuing a remake of the original 1959 inaugural doll, and for a limited time it’s being sold for the original price, too—just $3. That’s right.
As you can see, Amazon is offering free Prime or Super Saver Shipping on her, too, so if you and Barbie are tight, you might want to get in on the deal.
(I do sort of like her bathing suit. But the pink cell phone just reminds me of all the reasons Barbie makes me want to enroll my daughter in football, just to make sure she doesn’t turn into a prissy princess. Heh.)
Gift closet crafts
Gift closet looking a bit thin? Get ready for the next wave of birthday parties—Toys ‘R’ Us has all sorts of Crayola Craft Kits marked down to $4.98 with free shipping! They’re selling out quick, but I see several great options still in stock.
These are great gifts for the gift closet, as well as for those rainy days when the kids insist there’s nothing to do.
(I mean, making the scrub the floor is always an option, but these would get you more Good Mommy points.)
Grab that labeler
Remember last week when there was a great deal on a hand-held Brother P1010 labeler and it sold out? It’s the current Lightning Deal at Amazon at just $11.99 right now. Go! 60% claimed already!
Free magazine time
Want a free year’s subscription to Women’s Day? Here you go!
I love never paying for magazines. It almost makes up for the fact that the time change is kicking my rear. Need more coffee.
Saturday deals
Gooooood Saturday morning! I’ve had pancakes! And coffee! And exclamation points!
Lookit that, Wii Fits are in stock at Amazon.
DisneyShopping.com has extended the $5 shipping on $89+ orders with coupon code SHIPTODAY to March 15th; in the meantime, if you order the 70th anniversary edition of Pinocchio, those will start shipping next week. (Looking for the best bargains? Check the Outlet, of course!)
Were you on the fence about buying some of those incredible Sun.Life™ items from Lands’ End? Today’s the last day of their Spring Fling Savings, which includes 20% off that line! Don’t forget, you can use code KIDSSUN with PIN 6852 for free shipping on any order.
Getting ready for Spring? Get free shipping on select Lawn and Garden items at Target this week. (There’s lots of other free shipping promos happening there, too.)
If you’re sprucing up the house, Home Decorators Outlet is offering $25 off $175+ through that link, until March 18th, 2009. Plus there’s free shipping on thousands of items, so between those two things, you could outfit any room on the cheap.
Sierra Trading Post is offering 10% off $75+ orders all month, using coupon code ALC29. They’re my favorite place to get outdoorsy gear on the cheap.
Absolutely everything is on sale at Illuminations, with up to 75% off and $5 shipping on orders of $50+. It’s a great time to stock up on things like hostess gifts and/or seasonal items.
That should keep you out of trouble for a while, right? Check back later today… I’ve got a contest coming up that will help a whole bunch of you get a jump on your spring cleaning….
It’s a cake-for-breakfast Friday
No, really. We had company for dinner last night, and ended up eating pretty late. I sent the kids to bed before dessert (much to their dismay), and made it up to them this morning by letting them have chocolate cake for breakfast. (Hey, it had eggs… and milk… and flour… and, um, hey—look over there! Something shiny!) Now I’m thinking every Friday should start out with a slice of chocolate cake for breakfast! What a fitting end to the week.
My hips disagree; they suggest I just stick to the Amazon Friday Sale. (Hmph.)
Hey, the Swiss Army messenger bag is bag! I don’t know if I really believe the “original” price of $145, but at $39.99 it’s a great deal for your favorite guy on the go (available in three colors, too).
Women’s Adidas running shoes for under $33? The fact that they’re called “Supernova” is just an added bonus.
Okay, I’m about to reveal my inner hippie (maybe I need those Earth shoes from yesterday…?), but I love these bowls. They’re down to $9.99 for the set of four, plus they’re eligible for the four-for-three promotion, so you could really clean up. (It looks like other pieces in the Sango Splash line are similarly eligible, so you could put together a set if you wanted to.)
Are you always cold at night? This dual-zone queen mattress pad warmer may be the solution. I used to love my warming mattress pad, back when I lived in the arctic tundra of the northeast, and when I didn’t yet know the joy of hot flashes. You’re welcome.
This watch is my pick of the day for retail gone wrong. (Hey, kids! Let’s spend $80 on a cool-looking watch that may or may not actually allow you to see what time it is!) Oh, wait… maybe I mean this one, instead. (Sure, I have a nice watch, but where are the dice to go with it?)
Ack, I have to offset those ridiculous watches with something worth looking at. Okay, this one is a great bargain at $17.99, and a good pick for a teen.
Don’t forget to check out the Friday Five, five MP3 albums for just $5 each—the soundtrack from Coraline is one of this week’s picks! And, of course, keep your eye on the Gold Box for today’s Lightning Deals, too.
Now go have some cake for breakfast. I promise it’s a lovely way to start the day!
