Picture it
Looking for a quality point-and-shoot that you can stick in your purse or pocket? Today’s Amazon Gold Box Deal is the Canon PowerShot SD770IS for $144.95. It’s a lot of camera for not too much money, and has great reviews.
I own an earlier version of this model, the one that doesn’t have image stabilization. It’s fine as long as I haven’t had any coffee. So I sort of wish I had this one. Just sayin’.
Trying to see the silver lining
Hey—good news! Our power is back on! And there was much rejoicing!
Unfortunately, school is canceled. Again.
And so, for the umpty-billionth time, I’m declaring my love for the Nintendo Wii (now back in stock at Amazon), as it’s the only thing enabling me to actually work today without having to worry about my cabin-fevered children killing each other.
Honestly, I don’t know why we waited so long to get one. (And I’m not just saying that because I’m getting pretty good at Mario Kart.)
I’d label this “cold”
Hey, guess what the power company says? They say they’re working on restoring our power. I’m so relieved. That totally makes the fact that my children are running laps up and down the hallway outside my husband’s office so much better.
Hmph.
But perhaps where you are is warm and heated and full of electricity. (Feel free to invite us over for dinner.) Maybe you have organization, or teacher gifts on the brain.
In that case, check out this Brother P-Touch 1010 Label Printer for just $6.49 shipped from Buy.com!
I can always find a use for one of these. Limit one per customer, unfortunately, but hey—elsewhere you wouldn’t be able to pay the shipping for that price. Snap ’em up!
Stocking up for after the Apocalypse
Well, we still have no electricity. But we do have… my husband’s office! With electricity! And heat! So modern, so convenient!
Personally, I feel like shopping for nothing right now, except maybe food, seeing as how I’ll be throwing away the contents of my refrigerator when we go back home. And then, hopefully (eventually?), power will be restored and we’ll be hungry.
So now that I’m hogging my husband’s desk, here, I see that the February grocery clearance at Amazon is actually going on until March 6th. If you haven’t stocked up yet (or lost a bunch of food in a snow storm; not that I’m bitter), all of those already-marked-down items will be another 40% off with code FBCLEVNT.
Just in case you wanted to know.
Ummmmm
Hey, have you heard the one about what happens when Georgia gets 5 inches of snow and ice and all the trees fall down and the power goes out while there a big tree blocking your driveway?
I’m not sure how it ends, yet. But I think it has something to do with the chainsaw my husband is wielding….
(Sorry for the delay in posting, today. Will be back online—and heated—soonish, I hope.)
Saturday deals
Good morning! Sorry I’m late; I was busy building an ark. (And apparently when your region is experiencing a years-long drought you’re not allowed to complain about even torrential downpours, so… ummm… lovely weather we’re having today!)
I wouldn’t recommend leaving the house in these conditions. Better stay inside to shop.
Kohls is having a Super Saturday Sale (surprise!), with automatic free shipping on $100+ for everyone. Remember, Kohls charge card holders can use both code MVC8591 for free shipping and YOURMVC15 for an additional 15% off, while non-card holders can use NEW7420 for an extra 10% off, anyway.
Old Navy’s having a Fundamentals Sale, with kids’ denim at $12 and things like women’s t-shirts for just $5.
Buying for baby? This weekend only, take 25% off Baby Einstein products at the Disney Store with coupon code BABY25. Don’t forget that you can still use code SHIPTODAY to ship your $89+ order for just $5, too.
If you’re craving beef (that comes packed in dry ice, which is a whole barrel of fun in and of itself), for one week only everything at Omaha Steaks is 50% off, so now might be the time to consider treating yourself. (Beef: It’s what my vegetarian is complaining about for dinner!)
There’s all kinds of deals at 6pm this weekend; all PF Fliers are just $19.95, and they’ve extended the $19.95 deal on Etnies as well.
This weekend you can save 10% on all sheets at Overstock, or take 10% off luggage sets, if you’d rather go sleep on someone else’s sheets.
Have a wonderful weekend… and if you’re here in Georgia, stay dry!
Friday’s underway
This morning I’m wondering at what age Friday will stop feeling like I’ve just sighted the finish line in a marathon. I live for Fridays, man. All for the anticipation of sleeping in on Saturday. I should put “Will Work For A Chance To Sleep In” on my business cards.
Of course… the Amazon Friday Sale helps, too.
Personally, my preferred child tracking method is to put the fear of God into them (kidding! mostly!), but if you’re into those electronic child trackers, under $40 seems like a great price.
The Oxo Candela Tooli lights are back. Love these. (So does my daughter. She says “Buy them for me! Buy them for me!” I told her to get a job.)
The Hoover SteamVac SpinScrub Pet was initially named the Hoover SteamVac SpinScrub PiddleBeGone, but that didn’t test well with the masses.
Need king-size pillows? The fact that they’re termed “gel-filled” disturbs me just a little, but $15/pillow for reviews that good seems promising.
This Cuisinart Grill & Griddle is still not exactly cheap (about $94 shipped), but I do love the idea it. We use our electric griddle all the time (pancakes!), and sometimes I wish we had an electric grill for when the weather isn’t amenable to grilling out… but I can’t justify two pieces that big. With this, you have both, all in one piece. Very cool.
Need silverware? Maybe it’s because I grew up in central New York, but deep in my heart I believe you’re not a grown-up until you own a set of Oneida silverware. Mostly I feel that way because I’ve never known an Oneida spoon to bend even in rock-hard ice cream (truly the test of good flatware).
I’ve never used these laundry dropps, but they get fantastic user reviews, and if you use Subscribe & Save you’re looking at enough detergent for 60 loads delivered to your door for $16.99. This is an eco-friendly product, so yeah, it’s going to cost more than Tide or Wisk, but Amazon’s price beats the price at the dropps Store.
Nothing says “I love you” like… massaging pig slippers?? Um….
Don’t forget to check today’s Gold Box Deal, too—it’s a TomTom ONE GPS for under a hundred bucks. And—of course—there’s always the Amazon Friday Five, five great MP3 albums for just $5 each.
I hope you have a great Friday, everyone!
Oprah likes it
Pretty Want Not reader Kris was kind enough to let me know that O Magazine has been touting Wei East Hand & Body Perfection, and it turns out that you can get a tube for just shipping for a limited time.
This stuff normally costs $14 for a 2.99 ounce tube. (Yeah, take a minute to get over that. I know I needed to.) But while supplies last, you can use the coupon code perfection to get it for free—just pay $2.95 to cover shipping.
Thanks, Kris!
A good time to buy heavy things
Hey, good news—although those of us who have Kohls charge cards can almost always get free shipping with a code, today and tomorrow (February 26th and 27th) every item ships at Kohls for just $.99 each, automatically. So if you’ve had your eye on something weighty, now’s the time to snap it up.
And—of course—they’re having a big sale (surprise!) and there are coupons available. Kohls charge card holders can use code MVC8591 for free shipping on any order, and code YOURMVC15 will give you an additional 15% off. Not a Kohls card holder? You can use code NEW7420 for an additional 10% off, anyway.
Do you ever wonder if anyone actually pays full price at Kohls? (I do.)
Groovy shoes, great prices
I’d never heard of this brand before (then again, I’m hopelessly unhip, as my kids are only too happy to tell you), but wow, they have some cute stuff—today’s deal at 6pm is all Dekline shoes for just $14.95.
I just realized they’re all men’s shoes. I guess I shouldn’t call them cute. They’re, uh, manly. That’s it. Terribly manly. Word.
