Soy snacks never sounded so good
Back when I was in college (fifty million years ago…), soy was one of those foods that only hippies ate. Because it was hard to find, expensive, and often tasted awful. But you could hug a tree while eating it, so there was that.
Nowadays, soy is much more mainstream, and it no longer tastes like something that really shouldn’t be food. And women of a certain age should eat plenty of soy for the delicious and sanity-giving phyto-estrogens that help our bones stay strong and our hot flashes from becoming a permanent state.
Got soy? Check out the current Amazon Grocery deal on Glenny’s Snacks. There’s plenty of delicious snacky options, and the savings really add up. For example, let’s say I want the 6-pack of white cheddar crisps. They’re marked down to $12.45, and then I can save another 25% with coupon code GLENNYS7. That ends up being about $1.56/bag.
I do love stocking up on snacks at Amazon. Nothing makes me happier than a pantry full of munchies.
Except maybe having fewer hot flashes.
So you wanna go Blu-ray
Me, I don’t need the latest technology to be happy. But some folks do, and even those folks probably had a coronary when they realized how much Blu-ray players typically cost. Ouch.
The good news is that one of the best of the bunch is currently on sale at Amazon—the Sony BDP-S550 1080p Blu-ray Player is down to $284.99, over $100 off the MSRP.
I wouldn’t run out and buy one on a whim, but if you’ve been shopping around for such a thing, this may be the deal you need. (And if it is, please invite me over for movie night. I hear the picture on those things is sweet.)
If you missed Band of Brothers last time
Today’s Amazon Gold Box Deal is Band of Brothers on Blu-ray for just $34.99 shipped. Any given Band of Brothers disc pretty much requires that I have an entire box of Kleenex handy, but my husband can’t seem to get enough of it. This set is a must-have for your favorite war-buff. (Remember that Blu-ray discs require a Blu-ray player.)
Sorry for the lack of deals, today, by the way. I’ve been thoroughly sucked into Obama-rama. Tomorrow I’ll be back to thinking CNN is boring, I promise.
Have a historic donut
I’ve been glued to CNN all morning. What a day today is, no matter your political affiliation.
In honor of the Inauguration, Krispy Kreme is offering free donuts to celebrate. I don’t know that one free donut of your choosing is really an appropriate way to celebrate the 44th president of the United States, but free is free. Enjoy.
New markdowns, not bricks
I keep trying to get my kids to walk around with bricks on their heads so that they won’t outgrow their clothes so quickly. They just laugh at me and say things like “I can’t help it,” and now I have plenty of pavers for the garden, but still often have to ask a child or two “Where’s the flood?”
Hmph.
Although the site banner says the Monster Sale prices are still just an 30% extra off, it looks to me like prices have been slashed again at The Children’s Place. Now’s the time to scoop up the goodies in the Outlet (pajamas for next year, anyone?) while the getting’s cheap. And don’t forget coupon code SA19 for an extra 15% off, too!
I mean, sure, bricks are cheaper… but they’re harder to keep on ’em.
Seriously, what are you waiting for?
If you haven’t tried Restaurant.com yet, consider this the closest thing to an engraved invitation as you’ll probably get—through January 26th, 2009, you can use coupon code SAVE to take 70% off your order. That means $25 restaurant certificates will cost you just $3, and also that 2009 could still be The Year Of The Return Of Date Night.
Just think about it.
Christmas in January
If you haven’t gotten your fill of holiday clearance, yet, you might want to check the latest markdowns in the Amazon Holiday Clearance. I’m kind of all Christmas-ed out, but those prices… hrmmmmm….
It’s a good thing the kids are home today, to distract me. Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day!
Your favorite movie or album, for less
Right now at Second Spin, all DVDs and CDs are automatically 25% off (no code needed; discounts reflected in the product listings). The savings are good through January 22nd, 2009.
Do you care about this sort of thing being second-hand? Only if you really enjoy paying full price for stuff, I’m guessing. I mean, low prices, then 25% more off of that? It tends to soothe any disgruntled feelings I might have about not being the first person to crack the seal on the case.
Saturday deals
Good morning! It’s 15 degrees here in Georgia, and I don’t know about you, but I am definitely not leaving the house today. Yeesh. Thank goodness for the internet!
Over at Old Navy, take an extra 50% off clearance items with coupon code EXTRA50, through the weekend only. The site has been slow and stuff is selling out right and left, but if you can get in there, snap up those deals.
The Super Weekend Sale and Clearance is on at Macy’s, if you’re feeling fancy.
Need some new undies, or other comfy gear? If you visit Hanes through this link, through January 19th, 2009, you’ll get $1.99 shipping on your entire order, regardless of size. (The size of your order. Not your size. Though that doesn’t matter, either.)
Need vitamins or supplements? Visit Puritan’s Pride through this here link and your entire order ships for free.
The weekend deal at Overstock is 10% off sheets plus $1 shipping, if you’re needing sheets.
Free shipping on $75+ is back at Kohls, plus card holders can use coupon code EXTRAMVC15 to save another 15%, and I think code MVC9651 still works for free shipping. No card? Code NEW2378 will give 10% off to everyone.
Today’s Gold Box Deal at Amazon is some sort of fancy cat litter system. I’m thinking this is why I don’t have a cat. But maybe you’ll want to take a look.
Have a wonderful day, everyone, and stay warm!
Can I get an amen?
Some weeks end with Friday. Other weeks end with ohmygoshfinallyit’sFriday! I think you know what kind of week this was.
Oh, Amazon Friday Sale. You are the frosting on my distinctly un-cake-like week. Thank you.
… except that I’m not seeing anything all that new or exciting. (Not that it’s not worth a browse, just that nothing is knocking my socks off that hasn’t been there in the last few weeks.)
Of course there’s also the Friday Five, five MP3 album downloads for just $5 each, if your day needs some new tunes.
I suppose even Amazon’s entitled to an off day, but sheesh. I need my Friday bargain fix. Perhaps I’ll find something later today. (Though I’m still giving up that amen for it being the end of the week.)
