There’s a new Blokus in town
I thought we were quite cutting edge when we got Blokus Trigon (which we love, and I recommend) last year, but of course they’ve upped the ante once again. Meet Blokus 3D, the newest member of the Blokus family.
If you’ve never played Blokus, it’s a game that sharpens your spatial skills, but is also lots of fun. (And for a new game to be 40% off at Amazon is a rare thing, so I’m very tempted to snap it up at that price.)
Life, liberty, and the pursuit of free shipping
Well, it’s official. Black Friday and Cyber Monday have ruined me for paying shipping on anything. Alas.
Thankfully, there’s plenty of places and ways to avoid paying shipping. Phew! Like, all day today, ship your entire order at The Company Store or Company Kids with coupon code T8NFDLAST. There’s plenty on sale, too.
I’m pretty sure this is what our founding fathers had in mind for us. You know, if they’d been thinking about the Internet, and shopping.
Get your Gunship
Have one of those kids who only wants one Lego set that happens to cost approximately the same as your monthly mortgage payment? I may have a good find for you.
The Lego Star Wars Republic Gunship is currently marked down to $89.99 at Amazon (25% off). Add it to your cart and another 25% will be deducted at checkout—making it just $67.49 shipped.
Which is still way too much for Lego, but a price some of us are willing to pay to keep our kids quietly building for a few hours….
Cold toes can ruin the holiday mood
This summer we put down a wood floor in our family room, and I was delighted. I felt a little silly putting a rug over part of it, at the time, but now that the weather is cooling off, I’m very glad not to have that shock of stepping on cold wood each time I get off the couch.
I bought our rug the last time this sale was on, and can wholeheartedly recommend it: The Home Decorators Outlet Rug Sale is always a great way to get bargain-basement deals on some really nice rugs, but this time, they’ve thrown in free shipping, to boot. Don’t be afraid of the too-good-to-be-true prices, either—this is quality stuff. My rug is hand-tufted wool and still shedding months later because it’s soooo thick. I would’ve paid a lot more for it, but thankfully I didn’t have to.
Check ’em out if you’re in the market for a rug. (Alternatively, you could buy some slippers, I guess. But this is more fun.)
Because magnets are fun
When my kids were smaller, we had a couple of those magnet building sets, and over the years the pieces have slowly but steadily disappeared. Now every so often I’ll find a piece stuck to a lamp or something, which is actually a lot more amusing than finding stray Lego with your bare feet. Ahem.
Still, this 100 piece MagnaCase Magnext set made me a little nostalgic for the good old days, when my kids thought magnet were the coolest! things! ever!! At $17.99 (free shipping eligible) it could provide countless hours of entertainment.
Until you start to the lose the pieces, anyway. (But it comes with a case, so maybe you can avoid that particular fate….)
Let Baby have a ball
Stuck on finding a new toy for the littlest one in your life? Check out the Playskool Busy Ball-Tivity Center—it’s down to $12.99 at Amazon, right now, and free shipping eligible.
This might be a welcome addition to the high chair for those holiday meals with family. You know, so that Junior is happily playing, instead of shrieking and hurling strained peas.
I’d kind of like the marshmallow shooter
Are you remembering to check the drugstore.com Deal of the Day every day? It’s sort of a misnomer, because it’s several great deals each day.
Today, for example, there are—among other things—a variety of marshmallow shooters for $14.99 apiece. Can you put a price on seeing annoying family members beaned in the head with marshmallows, though? No, you cannot.
It’s, um, a bunch of days of Christmas
I thought there were 12 days of Christmas, although even that is confusing because really, I’m pretty sure Christmas is only a day. But when it comes to more bargains, I’ll let some things slide.
So don’t forget to check out 15 Days, 15 Video Game Deals at Amazon for the next couple of weeks (today it’s Guitar Hero World Tour for every possible platform), and then over at Endless there’s 12 Days of Deals, which today features a great deal on Kenneth Cole REACTION shoes for the well-dressed man.
I may not know how many days of Christmas there are, but I’ll take the sales. Heh.
This is nicer than saying “yuck, stubble”
Looking for the perfect gift for that special guy whose face isn’t as smooth as you’d like? How about the Panasonic Men’s Linear Vortex Nano shaver? Why, just from the name you can tell it probably uses space-age technology. I’ve certainly never had vortexes or nanos at my disposal for shaving my legs….
Okay, so if the name doesn’t do it for you, consider that it’s currently marked down to $106.58 (they claim that’s over half off, but it’s more like $25 – $50 off retail), plus you can use coupon code PANADEC8 to save another $30. You end up with the highest-end razor out there for about $76 shipped, a great gift, and hopefully the end of stubble.
Plus, you know, all those nanos. And vortexes!
Tis the season to eat some more
There’s something about the Thanksgiving holiday that kicks off a month of non-stop eating, it seems like. I’m back to grapefruit and oatmeal in the mornings, vowing to eat healthier today, breaking out the salad… and then, well, someone suggests leftover pie for dessert. Foiled again!
Okay, so, the good news is that you don’t have to use these right away (you have a year) just in case you’re feeling as stuffed as I am: But Restaurant.com is currently offering 50% off with coupon code JOY. And while it’s true that there will be deeper discounts later in the month, many restaurants only offer a set number of certificates per month and will sell out. So if something you wanted last time was gone, go see if you can snag one, this time.
With the coupon you’ll get $25 of dining for just $5, which is the kind of savings you should always have a little room for.
