You know I love free shipping
Hey, it looks like you can go shop at Fashion Bug and then use coupon code 776234205 for free shipping on any size order! Coupon valid through September 23rd, 2008.
This is useful for when you just want to sort of dart in and pick up one or two things. Don’t forget—Fashion Bug carries girls’ clothes, too! Check the clearance for the best deals, of course. Does your daughter wear polos as part of a school uniform? They have both blue and white ones in the clearance for under $5.
(My daughter would take one look, shun the plain polos, and demand the stripey arm sock things. But I’m sure you won’t have that problem….)
Does your photo need fiddlin’?
If you’re like me, you’ve got a hard drive full of pictures and very few actual prints. Because it’s… hard, or something. Hey, you’re busy! You’ve got things to do! And if you have kids, somewhere there’s a grandparent lamenting the fact that she’s short on pictures.
So, sure, every now and then you print out a bunch and send ’em along or frame them for your home. But what about that one special photo, the one that really deserves a special spot on the wall… perhaps as a special holiday gift for Grandma?
Meet Photofiddle, your custom artwork destination. You supply the high-res digital photo, they do the fiddlin’ until you have your masterpiece. I gave them a picture of all the grandkids in their matching pajamas sitting in front of the Christmas tree, and they removed the clutter (there were some toys strewn about) and turned it into a watercolor-look rendering on canvas, strung on a frame and ready to hang. Guess what my mother-in-law is getting for Christmas this year? (Shhhhh. Don’t tell!) The results are stunning—this is the perfect way to turn a photo into a keepsake.
Prices vary, but let me help; use coupon code wantnot15 to take 15% off your order (valid through the end of 2008). Photofiddle may just save Christmas, this year!
Save big at Catherines
You already know that Catherines is a great place to find clothing for plus-sizes, right? (I mean, you have seen me post about them before….)
Today (September 9th, 2008) only, use coupon code 776721904 to take $15 off your $25+ order. (Psssst! They have accessories that fit all sizes, too!)
The site’s running a little slow right now—probably a bunch of folks going in to the use coupon—but if you’re patient, you should be able to shop. Have fun.
While I’m having one of those days. . .
… I guess it’s time to bring up that thing I’ve been avoiding.
As of September 1st, Amazon is no longer offering price adjustments.
That means that if you buy something and a week later they lop $100 off the price, you can’t just shoot them an email and get your money back, the way we used to. For tightwads like us, this is a sad, sad thing.
On the other hand, you would still have the option of rebuying the item in question and returning the first one (even if you return the second one with the slip from the first one, if the first item was already in use). That’s a lot bigger hassle, of course, and costs more (in shipping), but it can be done.
Maybe if enough people start doing that, Amazon will bring back their price adjustment policy.
Look, I’m sure it was costing them a lot of money to be as liberal with the price adjustments as they were. I get it. On the other hand, I think just doing away with it altogether could be really problematic, especially for a retailer known for their schizophrenic pricing structure. (It’s $5! Now it’s $8! Whoops, wait, now it’s $3!)
Personally, I’ll still be shopping there, because it’s convenient and the deals are good. But Amazon hasn’t been super forthcoming about the policy change and I just wanted to make folks aware of it. Caveat emptor, and all of that.
After this, no more shoes
(For the rest of the day, anyway.)
Okay, so here’s the thing: Right now all DC footwear is just $19.95 at 6pm.com. “Oh,” you say, “more shoes! Again?”
But here’s the thing. DC makes sneakers and stuff, sure. But they also make snowboard boots. You know—the thing that normally cost $150+? Those things? That your teenagers are begging for every winter?
Under twenty bucks, baby. You can be a hero before the first snowflake falls.
Yet another shoe deal
You should have shoes coming out of your ears, by now (that doesn’t sound very comfortable), but when has that ever stopped us from shoe shopping, before? Never. Besides, those pesky children tend to outgrow their shoes when we least expect it.
Right now at Shoebuy, you can take $20 off your $50+ purchase when you pay with Paypal. Automatically! Shipping and returns are always free, of course. So now you don’t have to grumble when Junior needs new shoes.
Instead, you have an excuse to pick up those cute ballet flats you’ve been eying while you provide for your child. It’s a form of altruism, really.
Nintendo deals, in the palm of your hand
I’ve been so Wii-focused lately (Wiivisioned? Wiicentric?) that I’d almost forgotten that one of the hottest holiday gifts for the last few years has been not the Wii, but the Nintendo DS. If you’re thinking about getting one, here’s one of those cases where shopping early could really pay off:
Right now at Toys R Us, they’re offering 25% off all Nintendo DSs when they’re purchased with a game and an accessory. So, for example, the Nintendo DS Guitar Hero bundle is considered to meet the criteria by virtue of being a console with a game and the guitar adapter thingie, so instead of the displayed price of $180, if you put it into your cart it drops down to $135, automatically.
Don’t want that one? It works on any DS console/game/accessory combo. (Consider buying a stylus pack. My kids have already lost several styluses. Stylii? Whatever.) Works in-store, too, if you feel like shopping in-person.
Will there be holiday-time deals on DSs? Maybe. But the closer we get to Christmas, the harder they’ll be to find. Consider buying now and saving yourself the aggravation, later, when everyone is sold out.
Go solar, baby
Everyone has at least one tech junkie who already has just about everything on their gift list every year. They’re impossible to buy for, because they always scoop up the latest and greatest as soon as possible.
But because they have so many gadgets, maybe they’d really dig a universal solar charger, especially seeing as how today it’s just $19.99 with free shipping (down from $140).
Save the earth, but don’t give up your gadgets. And find that perfect gift for the geek in your life. Awesome.
Cute bags, great cause
Every year, Lean Cuisine offers up limited edition insulated lunch totes for $9.95 each (that includes shipping). A full $5 of your purchase price goes to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, so you’re not just getting a cute bag, you’re supporting a great cause.
These make nice teacher gifts, too. (Maybe filled with some snacks…?) Just sayin’.
Vroom, vroom!
Mario Kart for the Wii (with wheel) is now in stock at Amazon. It’s been out of stock for a long time, so this is an unexpected surprise.
Just in case you’ve been looking for it. For that Wii you don’t have. Or whatever. *whistling innocently*
