More than just underwear

Right now at Hanes.com you can get free shipping on any size order with coupon code KIDSUW. The coupon is valid through March 31st, 2008.

They have a wide array of stuff, and plenty on sale, too. Though who are we kidding? We all know you’re gonna buy undies. It’s okay.

Score at Kohls today

Hey, it’s Wednesday, and that means that Kohls is having a billion different sale events, because, um, they like Wednesdays.

Most of them are those “fakey” sales, since everything there is on sale all the time, anyway, but if your man needs a coat, be sure to check out the Men’s outerwear clearance—there’s some great deals to be had in there.

The $.99 shipping per item is still going on, too, plus you can use code MVC4363 for free shipping if you have a Kohls card. Card holders can also use code MVCPICKADAY for an additional 15% off, and those without a Kohls card can use NEW6919 for 10% off.

Get some glow

Hi! My name is Mir, and I am a glow-in-the-dark white woman.

(“Hi, Mir!”)

I don’t believe in tanning—real or fake—but occasionally I do like to go without pantyhose without blinding my fellow humans. And so I’m more than a little intrigued by things like this Jergens Natural Glow lotion which claims to darken your skin just a little. Is it true? I have no idea, but that there link will get you a free sample to test it out for yourself.

Is it time for a new watch?

If you’re looking for a new wristwatch, you might want to hop on over to Amazon—select Casio watches are on sale. This means the low-end ones are downright cheap, the mid-range ones are surprisingly affordable, and even the fancy ones are about 40% off. It’s worth taking a look if you’re in the market for such a thing.

Pick up a deal at Catherines

Right now Catherines (plus size ladies’ clothing) is offering free shipping on all orders through March 8th, 2008—no code necessary! Why? I have non idea! Just because!

And as if free shipping weren’t enough, you can also use coupon code 776895906 to take $15 off your $25+ order. And there’s plenty of options in the Clearance section, too. If that’s not an excuse to buy yourself a little something pretty, I don’t know what is.

Well, yes, that’s a lot of paper

Sometimes buying in bulk is a great way to save, and sometimes buying in bulk is… too bulky. (See? See what I did there…?)

But this is one place where it pays to have friends. I mean, it’s possible that you are not interested in having 5 cases of Office Depot Brand Premium Multipurpose Paper where buying 4 cases nets you the 5th for free, because a case is 10 reams and I get that you may not actually need (or have storage for) 50 reams of paper. Okay. But if you have four friends who also want cheap paper? That’s a case apiece, delivered, for under $40 each.

Wait! It gets better! There’s also a $30 off $150 coupon available, and it appears the two can be combined. Just go through the first link, add your paper (coupon will appear automatically), and then go through the second link to check out. My total after tax was around $30/box.

Thinking about groceries

Every now and then I sit down and think about two of my pet topics simultaneously: Feeding my family, and saving money.

And then my head explodes.

If you’re a fellow penny-pincher, you—like me—need to hear it again and again: Food is not the place to go frugal. It just isn’t. It has taken me a long time to come around to the place where saving money on other things allows me to spend the money on food that I should be spending, without guilt.

But other people always say it so much better than I do: Check out The Cleaner Plate Club for a stark visual on what is happening to the food chain in our country, and then, if you find yourself depressed by that (I did), go read Alanna Kelloggs’ kick-butt post on the right way to save money on groceries. And then? Buy real food.

Get Bourne for less

Mmmmm… Matt Damon. I’ve always sort of thought of Matt Damon as “that kid from Good Will Hunting,” and it didn’t occur to me until fairly recently that he’s not, you know, a teenager anymore. He’s grown up quite yummy, in fact.

(What, honey? Oh, nothing! I’m just talking to my friends about movies!)

Psssst—let’s keep my opinions about Matt Damon quiet, okay? Thanks.

Anyway, if you enjoy the cinematic masterpieces that are (yummy Matt Damon) the Bourne movies, check it out: You can pick up the entire Bourne trilogy at Amazon right now for just $29.99. The only catch? It’s on HD-DVD, so if you don’t have an HD player, this isn’t the deal for you. (There are lots of HD-DVD packs on big sale, in fact, owning to the fact that Blu-ray is taking over the market. But if you already have a player, you may as well have some movies, right?)

Questions for dishes

Need another set of kiddie dishes? Go answer a few survey questions and you’ll get a free child’s dish set.

Nope, I don’t know what it looks like. It’s from Motts For Tots (the lower-sugar juice), so it’s probably got their logo on it. Or maybe purple elephants; look, I have no idea, I just know that it’s free. Heh. You can print out a coupon for $.75 off their juice, there, too.

Company Store and CompanyKids savings

Ooooh, talk about two stores I love but can only shop during clearance times….

Well. Today’s a lucky day, because they’re both running clearance and there’s 10% off coupons afoot!

First, save 10% at The Company Store by using coupon code AFCSAVE10. Then, save 10% at CompanyKids by using coupon code AFKSAVE10. Both coupons are valid through the end of March, 2008.

(Pssst! Do a search on “penguin” to find some adorable pajamas for the whole family on clearance!)
