Overstock weekender
Thinking about something at Overstock this weekend? You can take $10 off your $99+ purchase through that there link, if so.
Because the only thing better than Overstock’s prices are Overstock’s prices coupled with a coupon.
Spelling tests and cookies for snack
Friday means something altogether different to my children than it does to me, which is as it should be. Someday when they’re older, I shall share with them the sacred ritual of the Amazon Friday Sale. I do think they should be making more than $1.75/week when I tell them, though.
We used to use one of these tandem thingies for the kids when we biked; it’s so much lighter and easier than a bike trailer, and it teaches them how to balance, too. Plus they get to feel like a big kid!
This isn’t the one I have, but I’ve heard excellent things about this GPS unit. And you know I believe strongly in GPS. I have a very close relationship with mine.
Need a sewing machine? $159.99 for what looks like a pretty good one, there.
Maybe you’d prefer a stroller for your dog. Yes, really. (Hey, I don’t make the stuff. I just point it out.)
I believe the technical term for this baby is big-ass fan. In case you still need one.
Sometimes people ask me how to figure out what would be good “gift closet” items. I’ll buy something like these ornaments and then when Christmas comes around, instead of giving someone the set, I’ll break it up and give each teacher a batch of cookies with one of these attached, for example.
I know it’s impractical, and I would never buy it (because I have no one to give it to), but I sort of love this pocket watch. I just think it’s pretty. Does anyone carry a pocket watch anymore?
I am off to start my day; have a great Friday!
It’s a tent sale
(When it’s online, where exactly do they put the tent…?)
Hey, there’s a big ol’ tent sale going on right now at the Disney Shopping Outlet. Plenty of great stuff has been marked down, so you may want to go have a look.
And, uh, if you find that tent? Lemme know. That’s gonna keep me up at night.
Free “friendly folks”
Ordinarily this isn’t my sort of thing, but for just $4.50 in shipping charges I may have to try it out.
Here’s the deal: The Friendly Folks Personalized Cartoon matted prints from Doughgirls are normally around $11, but through September 13th you can get one free with coupon code ffprint. Only one freebie per order (and you do need to pay the shipping), but you can order as many times as you like.
Soooo… holiday gift? Teacher gift? For under $5, you can hardly go wrong.
Whack those weeds
I vaguely remember a prolonged discussion with my ex-husband about whether or not weed trimmers should run on electricity; he convinced me that the only good trimmer was one that runs on gas, so that you needn’t worry about a plug and extension cords and such.
So we bought a gas trimmer. It smelled horrible, stunk up the garage, and—the very best part—almost never agreed to start. Fabulous.
I’ve since been keeping my eyes open for a nice little electric one, and I think I may have spotted a winner: Check out this Black & Decker string feed trimmer. It’s not a beast by any means—and so not a good choice if you have a huge yard, I suppose—but for light weed whacking it looks like it might be fine. And it ships for free at just $23.21.
True, it’s not a fabulous pair of shoes… but sometimes a gal just has to be practical. Sigh.
Did somebody say bacon?
Got a Dunkin Donuts near you? I don’t, anymore, but where I used to live we always joked that every set of directions started with “turn at the Dunkin Donuts” because there was one on almost every corner.
(Okay, maybe you had to be there.)
Anyway! In honor of their new Bacon Lover’s sandwich (mmmm… bacon), Dunkin Donuts has put up a new instant win game. At the very least, you’ll get a Dunkin Donuts coupon at the end. Though the plasma TV would be pretty nice, too.
The name is Bond. Wino Bond.
I almost put this in “Retail Gone Wrong” but then I decided that maybe for those who are really serious about their bar keeping, this is the perfect gift. Who knows. Regardless, if all you’ve ever wanted is all the key bar tools in one sleek case, check out this Loft Bar Set.
It even has a combination lock on the case. So that no one tries to steal your muddler, I’m guessing.
Happy Wednesday!
It’s been a long time since I found anything I needed in the JC Penney Wednesday Deals, but I am mesmerized by those Furgles things.
And by “mesmerized,” I mean “I am going to have nightmares about them.”
Mix it up
Here’s another Amazon quickie (everyone else seems to be resting after hard weekend of deals, heh): If you’ve been waiting for a deal on a KitchenAid stand mixer, wait no longer. That’s about as cheap as it get, right there. I occasionally see refurbished ones for around $100, but to see one new (with free shipping, even—those things weigh a ton!) for $100 is a deal indeed.
