More weekend shopping goodness

Well, that was exciting, waiting to see if Amazon remembered it was Friday, huh? Don’t they know I typically have to go out and do other stuff on Friday mornings, and I rely on them to roll out the bargains by breakfast time so I can post and get moving? Sheesh, Amazon. Get on the ball.

Anyway, on the heels of that I was very pleased to see that Overstock’s doing a decent coupon for the weekend. Go shopping and pay just $1 shipping and take 8% off your entire order through that there link. Coupon expires midday on Monday, March 19th.

And they remembered to put it up on time, so it’s working already. Ahem.

It’s a twofer: a sale and a blizzard

Thank goodness for the Amazon Friday Sale. If not for it, all I’d have to look forward to today would be the nor’easter that’s supposed to blow through tonight!

(New England’s motto: “Just when you thought it was over, it’s Winter. Again. Surprise!”)

Except… what’s this? The Friday Sale doesn’t appear to be up yet. I’ll check back after I get the kids off to school. There just has to be a Friday Sale today. Did you not read the part about the blizzard, Amazon? Sheesh. I give, and I give, and I give… and this is how you repay me?

[Edited, 12:24 pm: I’m back from visiting the grocery store along with the rest of the world. The snow is just starting to hit, here, and the Friday Sale appears to have finally shown up. I’m just thrilled because pirate booty is on sale. Woo!]

[Also: Not related to the pirate booty in any way, but I just stumbled across this bikini line trimmer at a great price. Don’t ask.]

We like to pronounce it “tar-jay”

Don’t have a local Target store? Don’t be sad! You can still shop them online, and right now they’re offering free shipping with $25+ in shoes and $75+ in bed/bath.

Use coupon code TGTSAVE4 for 10% off your purchase. It’s not much, but every little bit helps. (Coupon valid through March 31st, 2007.)

There’s plenty of clearance online, now, too, and you can sift through it at your leisure instead of while being jostled on all sides by other shoppers. Not that that doesn’t add to the “charm” of the whole Target experience, but, you know….

They could tell you, but then they’d have to kill you

If you go out onto the web and starting Googling “FICO” you’ll find a lot of time and energy devoted to explaining how FICO scores are determined. You’d think that with all of this information available, it would be straightforward to determine the effect of various actions on your score. But you would be wrong.

Yesterday I advocated signing up for a new credit card and it reminded me that I recently received this:

Pretty Mir,

I have a question about credit cards. I have 3 credit cards. 1 Discover, and 2 Visas, and I don’t really need both Visas. I’ve heard you (and others) say that opening new credit card accounts can lower your credit score, but can it help improve my credit score if I close extraneous accounts?

Thanks,
Sheryl

The answer is: Ummm, maybe. read more…

Share the soy

I know that soy is good for me, and yet, there are precious few forms in which I don’t think it tastes like tangy cardboard. So when a soy freebie comes along, I always get a little too excited. At least this way, if it’s awful, I haven’t spent any money.

If you promise to share, SOYJOY will send you three free bars for you and your friends. You have to check the “I promise to share” box, but fortunately there is no “I swear I am not crossing my fingers” box.

You’ve got to be intrigued by a product that claims, “SOYJOY is the kind of snack you’d bake for yourself—if you had the time (and a mango tree in your backyard).”

Kiddie basics for less

Now through March 18th, 2007, you can take 20% off your total order at The Children’s Place with coupon code SANR37. Shipping is a flat $5 regardless of your purchase amount.

The pickings in the outlet are pretty slim, at the moment, but there are a number of “super savings” items in every department that are discounted.

(I’m a little spoiled by their occasional insane clearance events where shirts are a dollar or so… but I suppose $5 for a shirt—before the coupon—is pretty good.)

My favorite kind of coffee is free coffee

I swear to you, Girl Scout’s Honor (hey, stop snickering there in the back—I was too a Girl Scout!), that I had this marked on my calendar already, but now it’s going to look like I stole it from Melissa. I didn’t, but what can I say? Great minds think alike.

Tomorrow, March 15th, is Starbucks’ Second Annual Coffee Break. Pop into any Starbucks between 10 and noon and they’ll give you a free cup of coffee. I think they’ll even give you some attitude for free, too!

I know, the shoes thing, it’s constant

As if anyone who reads here still actually needs shoes….

Right now at Shoebuy you can take $10 off of one pair or $20 off of two pairs of shoes. Free shipping and free returns as always, of course.

Just use coupon code 2FLING07. Coupon expires March 27th, 2007. And—wait for it—they have Crocs! (Edit: Not sure why that’s not working. Try MARCH07 for 20% off, if that doesn’t work.) (‘Nother edit: The first code was pulled. Now try 1springfl07 for $10 off one pair and 2springfl07 for $20 off two pairs.)

(Come to Want Not for the deals, stay for the great prices on ugly shoes. I think I need that on a bumper sticker.)
