Guy gifts
Helloooooooooo! I am coming to you live (because it’s so uncouth to come to you dead) from an internet cafe. Why? Because my home internet is still completely hosed. Rather than share with you some choice words about my cable service provider, I thought I’d answer a question quickly. That way I’m not leaving you with a gaping void of non-posting. Now it will be a gaping void of a question. Yay!

Dear Mir,
Your amazing site has led me to many wonderful, affordable Christmas gifts, and for that you have my everlasting gratitude (and an upper-tier bookmark in my browser). However, I haven’t seen many suggestions for gifts for men…and my 25-year-old brother is the last person on my list. If, while scouring the Internet for deals, you come across the perfect affordable gift for a single engineer, please share!
Bisous,
Big SisterP.S. Did I mention you are very pretty?
(You didn’t mention it, but I could tell you were thinking it. You’re very kind.) read more…
Still need flannel sheets?
The selection is a lot more limited than when they were first offered, but these flannel sheet sets are now down to $8.99/set, even for king size.
Do check out the reviews (which are mixed) before you buy, of course. For the record: I bought a set of these when they were down to $15, and they’re fine. Not luxury bedding or anything, but nice and soft, have washed up well, etc.
For $9 you really can’t beat ’em.
Technical difficulties, but here’s a coupon
There are two things I can’t seem to keep up with:
What cable company is #&*$^ing up my broadband service right now, and new coupons at Overstock. Click this here linky for 12% off and free shipping on your order. Offer is valid through December 14th, 2006.
Please be patient as my internet access is restored. And send chocolate.
Shhhh, don’t tell my kids
But there will be a couple of these cars under the tree this year.
(Clicking through that link automatically gives you 10% off and free shipping, making them a very nice deal, indeed.)
So what are they? They’re Plasma Cars, the award-winning vehicles that hold up to 200 pounds. Everyone I know who owns one claims that the adults in the house use them as much as the kids do.
Here in the snowy northeast, I see them as my ticket out of snowstorm purgatory—when we’re housebound, the kids can go zoom around in the basement to burn off the energy they would otherwise use to drive me insane. I’d say that’s worth full retail, but if you can get it for about half off, all the better.
Victoria’s Secret is that her stuff costs too much
Sorry to have given away her secret. Oops! Though if you pay upwards of $25 apiece for your panties, really, I think you should keep that a secret. So that I don’t laugh at you.
Anyway! Here’s a great deal that makes it almost affordable to shop at VS. Check it out:
Pick out a pair of pajamas for (eeek) $39.50. The page where you select the size and pattern of the jammies will also offer coordinating slippers and a shelf-bra camisole. Get the slippers for free with coupon code SLIPPER and the cami for free with coupon code FA63613. Then to top it all off, you can use coupon code TENOFF for 10% off your total order. Supposedly the coupons do stack.
(You can also use FA63745 for a “free garden set,” although I was unable to figure out what those were, and MR24H for a free .025 oz of Very Sexy Eau De Parfum Spray with purchase of $30 or more nevermind, that one’s expired.)
If you manage to get all of that, that’s not too bad of a deal. And I have to admit; their pajamas are awfully cute.
Thanks, Sammie!
Save at Catherines
Now through tomorrow, December 12th, 2006, get $15 off of your $25 qualifying purchase, instantly, when you shop at Catherines.
Don’t forget that, although they’re a plus-size store, they also have accessories that fit everyone. I’m kind of digging a few of their scarves.
Two words that never go together
List price of $225! (Where it was a huge seller at the last American Foundation for the Blind charity auction, no doubt.)
Don’t panic!
We’re getting down to the wire; there are now less than two weeks until Christmas, and despite our best efforts not to get caught up in the commercialization of the season (well, some of us are making an effort… my kids sure aren’t), we may be starting to fret about gifts for some hard-to-buy-for folks. While I am all about the carefully chosen gift (procured on sale, natch), sometimes it can’t be done. You run out of time, or you just don’t know the recipient well enough.
For those folks, consider an Amazon Gift Certificate as your perfect one-size-fits-all gifting solution. While I often advocate buying bookstore GCs, some people just aren’t readers. And you can buy pretty much anything at Amazon. It’s perfect for anyone, whether they want books or a garden weasel. (Hey, someone might want a garden weasel. Don’t judge.)
But most of all, remember this: If you’re freaking out about shopping, you need to stop and relax. It’s not about stuff. Take a deep breath, have some cocoa, and remember that this is supposed to be fun.
Got paper?
How about a quick, easy deal this morning on something you always need?
Go to Office Depot and click on the graphic that looks like this one right here, that says Xerox paper for $1.99 a ream. That should take you directly to both the coupon and the product, but if you have trouble with that for some reason, it’s product number 565466 and the coupon code is 30691710. The coupon gives you $2.50 off each ream (for as many as you want to buy), making each ream of paper just $1.99.
And they’ll ship it for free, no matter the size of your order.
I don’t know about you, but we can always use paper.
Cover those legs, baby
Here’s a tip I just got from Leah:
I heard this only works for the first 1000 orders, so hurry — but at
babylegs.net, you can buy any pair, and get the Prancer xmas style for free. And the code HAPPY HOLIDAY gets you free shipping.
Sounds good; someone let me know if it works, if you grab the deal.
Thanks, Leah!
