Make any night a special occasion

Even since we started using Restaurant.com certificates, I’m a lot more willing to try a new restaurant or even bring the kids along to a place that’s a little pricier than our usual fare. Hey, when the savings are this good, I find I’m just a lot more generous. What can I say?

Through September 22nd, use coupon code SHARE for 80% off your dining certificates. That’ll net you $25 of dining for just $2. What you do with your saved $23 is up to you. Use it for a babysitter. Use it to bring the kids along. Use it to buy yourself something pretty. Or just leave it in the bank and feel superior. It’s all good.

Two tips for your Monday

What’s a better way to kick off the week than with some unexpected benefits to make you feel warm and fuzzy? Well, okay, maybe benefits and chocolate, but this is pretty good, too.

Seattle area Amazon shoppers: This is enough to make me wish I lived in Washington, people—check out the new AmazonTote program. Free delivery to your door in reusable tote bags, on certain products/days if you live in their delivery area. Sweeeeeeet.

Discover Card devotees: Enrollment is currently open for the 2010 4th quarter Get More promotion, which is up to 5% back on Restaurants and Fashion purchases from October 1st through the end of the year. All you need to do is sign in, click to sign up, and bam, you’re making extra money.

There. Isn’t your week feeling better already?

For your mad skillz, yo

Today’s Video Game Deal of the Day at Amazon is DJ Hero Renegade Edition (featuring Jay-Z and Eminem) for just $75 shipped on any platform.

If you are old and unhip like me, this is your golden opportunity to simultaneously score big points with your kids while affording yourself the easy opportunity to completely embarrass them. I know that my daughter just loves it when I pretend to be Eminem in the car, particularly when her friends are around.

Needless to say, my DJ skills are a little rusty, but what a great excuse to brush up. And mortify my children. Twofer!!

Croc it up

In most parts of the country, people are sadly putting away their sandals and bidding summer adieu. (Here, it’s still in the 90s. Georgia is not so much “on my mind” as it is “clogging up my pores,” but that’s another discussion altogether.) But whether summer is fast becoming a distant memory or still sticking around, now is the prime time to lay in some sandals deals for next year.

Check out the sale and outlet items at Crocs right now and you’ll find pages upon pages of sandals and such at deep discounts. Hooray! But we’re not going to settle for just a cheap price, are we? No way. Use coupon code secondchance for free shipping on your order, and add code HEALTHMAG for an additional 15% off, too.

That makes ’em deals worthy of any season, quite frankly.

Your Sunday dose of Soft

Still need a few more items of clothing for your sensory-sensitive kid, or just appreciate a bit of timeless style rendered in soft, silky cotton? Head on over to Soft Clothing and enjoy 20% off your order with coupon code coolmompicks.

Not only is their stuff adorable, I challenge you to find seamless socks, flat-seamed shirts, covered-elastic-waist pants and other comfy-as-jammies duds at these sort of prices. It’s affordable comfort for even the pickiest of kids.

Why, yes, we are big fans of Soft around here. How could you tell?

Saturday deals

Goood morning! Were you woken up by a dog licking out your sinus cavities this morning? No? Just me? That’s okay. I hear you can start your day without that, though I barely remember what it’s like….

Let’s see what’s on tap for today.

The current Lightning Deal at Amazon is a cool looking karaoke machine where you can dock your iPod. What better way to let your children amuse themselves (and the rest of the neighborhood) for hours on end? Exactly. (Ooooh, another Amazon goodie: Need a few Mead composition books? At $.61 apiece you can use ’em for order filler or just stock up for the rest of your kids’ academic career.)

Need razors? Right now at Soap.com they’re running a 50% off special on Gillette products, for up to $15 max total off your purchase. Just make your selections (those Mach3 razors my husband uses are expensive!) and then enter code GILLETTE50 in the promotions box at checkout to get the savings. I don’t think you can stack that with code WANT4631 for 20% off your entire first order, but if you haven’t ordered before and if you’re not buying Gillette stuff, they recently bumped that coupon from 15% off to 20% off, so there you go.

Today’s top deal at 6pm.com is dresses for under $50, to go with the shoes you’ve been buying lately. Heh. Plenty of shoe deals on tap there, too.

Do you wear contact lenses? We have a Want Not mole at 1800Contacts—they’re running a contest where they’re giving away free contacts for life to a lucky winner every day. Just click right here, enter your information, and cross your fingers. (Disclosure: That’s an employee referral link because apparently they’re also having a competition to see which employee can send the most folks to the contest. Just doing my part to help.) You bet I entered my daughter’s info there and crossed my fingers for a free year of lenses!

If you’re serious about your winter fleece, go check out the fleece sale at EMS, where everything’s already marked down and then drops another 20% in your cart. Nice stuff if you live in a frozen climate.

This weekend you can shop Macy’s and use coupon code SAVEMORE to take an additional 10% or 15% off of just about everything, on top of their weekend sale prices.

Don’t forget to check out your local Groupon every day! And don’t forget about those sneaky online deals you might find in another city—today if you check out the deal in Bakersfield, it’s $127 worth of gallery-quality Canvas On Demand photo reproduction for just $45. (This makes an incredible gift, particularly for grandparents. Trust me. My mother-in-law has a canvas of all the grandkids in matching Christmas jammies and it’s pretty darn awesome.)

That should keep you busy for a little while, yes? And I think we’ll have a little contest later on today. Just because.

A quickie Guitar Hero deal

Oooh, just came across this and figured it was too good not to share:

Currently at Amazon, the Wii Guitar Hero 5 Bundle will run you $50, which seems like a pretty good deal. But if you buy the Stand-Alone Guitar for $20 and the Stand-Alone Software for $15, shazam, you’ve just bought the bundle equivalent for a cool $35! Nice.

My Christmas fingers are getting twitchy, is all I’m sayin’.

TGIF, indeed

Was this the longest week ever, or is it just me? I can’t remember being this happy to see a Friday in a long time. Think my kids will mind if I bid them goodnight, tonight, and tell them not to wake me until Monday…? (Just a little fantasy. I would never do that. I always let them wake me on Sunday night.)

Anyway! I was hoping that maybe, for once, the Amazon Friday Sale might help snap me out of the doldrums. Of course, they’re still mostly featuring coffee (Dear Amazon, Exactly how many warehouses full of coffee do you need? Love, Mir), but there are a few other notables. Like this Zoe Extra Virgin Olive Oil, which is what’s in my cabinet right now. I bought it because it was cheap, not because it was voted a best choice by the New York Times, but whatever—it’s good. And right now if you buy via Subscribe & Save it’s just $13.59 shipped for two liters, which is crazy cheap for good EVOO.

I’m also kind of crushin’ on today’s Gold Box Deal, which is this adorable tabletop Cuisinart gas grill—perfect for tailgating, camping, or small spaces. It’s adorable, highly rated, and a good $45 cheaper than I can find it anywhere else. And don’t forget to check out this month’s 100 MP3 albums for just $5; this is how I stock my iPod, and now think albums that cost more than $5 are for suckers. Heh.

Today’s deals at 6pm.com are once again a cornucopia of awesome brands; the Old Gringo boots—while cute—are a bit too rich for my blood even at 50% off, but I’m all over the 75% off Simples, under $25 Nine Wests, and the under $20 women’s shoe assortment. Come to Mama.

And if you’ve got your heart set on something new at Old Navy, right now new arrivals are 30% off with code ONNEW30.

Oneida has a new crop of deals, and today and tomorrow only, the more you spend, the more you save. Use code JF5 for $5 off $50+, JF15 for $15 off $100+, and JF30 for $30 off $150+. Free shipping on $99+, too. (Did you know they carry entire cookware sets? They do!)

Headed out on the town this weekend? Don’t forget to check Restaurant.com for discount dining certificates! Through the weekend you can use coupon code SPORK, which is not only fun to say (spork! spork!!), but will take 70% off your purchase price. That means $25 dining certificates are just $3, and let’s face it, you probably found that much in the laundry this week.

I’ll have this week’s contest winner for you later today, too. TGIF, everyone!

This is why we let them beg for candy

Well, they’ve done it again. The Halloween costumes are out at Children’s Place and they about killed me dead with the cuteness.

Shop now and you not only get the full selection (because I promise you, they start selling out way before I usually start thinking about costumes), but all Halloween is currently 30% off. And as if that’s not enough, use code M2C2010 for an additional 15% off any order, or spend $75+ and you can use code N2C2010 for 20% off. (Coupons expire on Sunday, so don’t wait too long.)

Just please let me stop looking at the tiny tutus and monkey costumes. They are giving me phantom ovary pains.

Mario does it again

I may or may not have recently joked that we could stamp “MARIO” on the side of a cardboard box and it would then become my children’s favorite toy. I don’t know what it is about that guy (maybe it’s the mustache?), but every video game he touches seems to be laced with awesome.

While it’s still on the high end of what I’m willing to pay for such things, the fact that Super Mario Galaxy 2 is currently $37 at Amazon is tempting me, because that’s still a good 25% cheaper than I’ve seen it anywhere else, and I’m guessing the kids will go nuts for it.

Plus, if I buy this now, I will be less tempted to lose my mind and fight the Black Friday crowds for a special discount on some new game that they probably wouldn’t like as much as this.
