Snag a half-price MiO house

If you’ve been pining after all things MiO since the giveaway I ran on Monday, get over to Amazon immediately—they’re running a Lightning Deal on the big MiO house set, which means that instead of the regular $100 price, you can snap it up for just $50, as long as the deal (or supplies) last.

largeset-mio

I’ve never seen it marked down this low. It’s not weird that I’m trying to figure out if there’s anyone I could buy it for, right? Totally normal…? Don’t answer that.

Get your holiday cards

It’s been years since I bothered with sending out holiday cards, mostly because I’m lazy, but I was just thinking the other day that I really should make it happen this year. And before I even had time to shop around, I came across this: You can design and print your cards through Amazon Prints and when you use coupon code BFPRINTCARDS, you’ll get 50 double-sided 5″ x 7″ cardstock cards for just $17.50 shipped ($20 off). That even includes having your return address printed on the envelopes! And for those who don’t like math, that’s just $.35/card.

Will it be enough to get me off my butt and participating in polite society before the end of 2016? Maybe. We’ll see.

Say cheese!

This deal comes to you courtesy of my photographer husband, because sometimes he knows things I would never run across on my own.

So: The regular price of this Fujifilm Instax Share SP-2 Smart Phone Printer is $200, but this week it’s down to $149 (I’m giving you the link to it on Amazon, but this is a from-the-manufacturer instant rebate so the price is the same everywhere). Now, why is this a big deal? Aside from the 25% savings on a handy little photo printer than any Instagram- and Snapchat-addicted teenager would love to have, my husband tells me that these Fuji items basically never go on sale (except around the holidays, briefly, like now).

It’s a little rich for my blood, even on sale (and make no mistake, the paper isn’t cheap, either), but it’s a very good deal on an item that’s in demand. Right now my college kid is still asleep, but when she wakes up and sees this post and realizes no one is buying this for her, she’s going to be grumpy.

Get your beauty on

Is there anything better than digging into your stocking on Christmas morning and finding toothpaste and acne treatments? No…? Are you telling me your mother lacks a sense of humor? Because I really think you are.

Look, I know we’re all in holiday shopping mode, and maybe this seems off-target (pun intended), but today (Tuesday, November 22nd) only, shop at Target and you can take 25% off Beauty and Health items with coupon code—brace yourself—BEAUTY. Whether you put those items in anyone’s stocking is up to you, but I personally am not going to sit out an opportunity to restock my stash when I can take 1/4 off the items my teenagers are always screeching about needing. Of course the fact that everything ships for free right now is a bonus.

There’s stackable deals, too: for example, I see that Secret Clinical Antiperspirant is both eligible for the code and you’ll get a $5 gift card if you buy two. Perfect.

I think my kids are really going to be excited that I got this dental floss on sale. (Hey, a girl can dream….)

It’s already Friday at Eddie Bauer

No need to wait until Friday—the Black Friday sale is already on at Eddie Bauer, and coupon code HARVEST works to take 40% off of almost everything, plus you’ll get free shipping on your entire order. (As always, some exclusions apply. But I tried it on a few clearance items and it definitely worked, so there’s plenty of ways to score some fantastic deals.)

Of course the shirt I’d picked out last week for my husband is now sold out, but perhaps you’ll have better luck. And I’ll go find something else, I’m sure.

Don’t say it

One of my favorite party games is on sale at Amazon at an all-time-low price (reminiscent of the December markdowns we used to see—I wonder if they’re starting early this year??): Snap up Taboo for just $7.80!

If you’ve never played, basically the goal is to get your team to say a word without using a list of prohibited words to evoke the target word. So maybe the word is marriage, but you can’t say wedding, bride, etc. It sounds easy, but if you want to get to know your friends in a whole new way (I will never forget playing with a church group—including the pastor—when I was barely an adult, and someone was trying to get us to say “soulmates” and said “Mir and her boyfriend are…” and someone screamed out “Lovers!” At a church group with the pastor. Good times!), this is the game to have on hand.

At this price, grab one for the gift closet even if you don’t have anyone in mind just yet.

Winter is coming (buy more blankets)

I guess, technically, that winter has already arrived in other parts of the country. (Here in Georgia, yesterday was our first day this season where it wasn’t at least in the 70s midday.) Nevertheless, whether it’s already cold or it’s going to be, there’s nothing like a cozy, fluffy blanket… unless it’s a cozy, fluffy blanket at a great price.

Check this deal out: Sears has these Colormate fluffy fleece blankets available today for just $12.99 apiece, even for King size (which is nuts). Then you can apply coupon code HOME20 for another 20% off, making them just over $10 apiece. Even if you, personally, don’t need any blankets, at this price you could make a nice donation to a local shelter.

Spend $49+ and you’ll get free shipping, or opt to pick up at your local store. This is a stock-up price, for sure.

And speaking of darling wooden toys…

… just in case you don’t win the MiO set from me today (or in case you want some other awesome wooden toys): One of the Deals of the Day at Amazon is up to half off select Hape toys. Now, if you’re buying for little ones whose parents you don’t like, by all means, go for one of the ukuleles or the xylophone. If you’d rather ingratiate yourself, I love all of their toys, but this shape-sorting snail is probably my favorite for a toddler. This is the lowest price it’s ever been, too.

There’s about 40 options, each one cuter than the next, but the discounts end tonight. (Seriously, though: the xylophone. Keep that in mind if you’re anticipating a difficult Thanksgiving with extended family. I’m just saying.)

Insert your own orange joke here

I buy organic. I make most meals from scratch and I do a ton of baking. I always put fresh fruits and vegetables in the lunches I’ve packed for my family over these many years.

So what do my darling children both go absolutely nuts for, food-wise? Cheez-Its. Because of course. I mean, what’s not to like about an orange cracker that tastes like shelf-stable cheese-food-product, amirite?

When I succumb, I try to keep the price right. It doesn’t get much righter than this Amazon offering for 36 packages of Cheez-Its: They’re marked down to $9.59—so your starting point is $.27/pack, which is perfectly reasonable—then you can save up to another 15% by buying via Subscribe & Save, and there’s also a 20% off coupon to clip. My total out the door is $6.23, or just over $.17/pack, which is a very low price to pay to be a lunchbox and/or dorm care package hero.

(I still think they’re gross, but whatever.)

All about the funky hair

If you know my family in person, you know that my daughter has had a variety of different hair colors, starting from when she was in middle school. This has never bothered me; my feeling is that it’s just hair and it grows and if she likes it, good for her. But I know that not everyone is willing to break out the rubber gloves and bleach and dye, particularly when it comes to younger kids. In fact, I hear from a lot of friends that they’re holding their (younger) kids off with edicts about a certain age they have to be, etc. Well, prepare to be popular:

Right now Amazon has this Hair Chalk Salon set available for just $5.99 (its lowest price ever), [Edit: As of 11/21 it’s now just $4.79, but has been changed to be an Add-On item] and it’s the simplest way to apply vibrant temporary hair colors that wash out as soon as you’d like. It’s perfect for younger kids, and at this price, it’s a stock-up item for birthday parties, stocking stuffers, etc.

My kid’s hair is already purple, but the rest of you, go ahead.
