Friday, take me away

I was actually having an okay week, and then my Thursday sort of blew up. Today needs to be a better day—do you hear me, Universe? And, um, no pressure, Amazon Friday Sale. It’s only my sanity we’re talking about….

I’m pretty sure this is a good deal on a Bosch Router Table ($150 shipped), but I am equally sure that I need to hide it from my husband, lest we play another rousing game of rearrange-the-garage.

Need a spare queen bed? Get the no-frills queen Aerobed for $50.

If you want something nice for your bed, this 2-inch memory foam topper is down to $65 for the queen size, which makes it cheaper than the twin, today. (Hint: Need a twin? Buy the queen and cut it yourself.)

I’ve decided my son needs to stop growing, because I would totally buy him this transportation flannel duvet cover if he were younger, because $14 for a duvet cover that cute is insane.

I’m not an electric shaver person, but at $91, this is the lowest I’ve seen the Panasonic Vortex HydraClean go, and it has mostly favorable reviews.

If you like Dropps for your laundry, between the markdown and Subscribe & Save you can end up with 60 loads worth for $17 delivered.

Don’t forget to check out this month’s crop of 50 MP3 albums for just $5 each, plus you can get your geek on in the Amazon Gold Box—any season of the recently remade Doctor Who on DVD is nearly 60% off.

If you need a 6pm.com fix (motto: No day is a bad day for 6pm deals!), I’ll just point out that all J-41 shoes are just $25 today. (I had never heard of that brand before, and I bought a pair the last time they were on special. They are the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned. Plus, they’re adorable.) That’s all I’ll say about that.

Here’s to a great Friday!

Kiddie kitchen, coming up

One of the last things I got rid of when my kids outgrew the “little kid” toys was our play kitchen. They’d had so many hours of fun there—and I’d been served so many delicious wooden and plastic meals. (Yum yum!) I’ve come to think of the play kitchen as the last great bastion of imagination for a lot of kids.

Hang on, there’s something in my eye….

Anyway, today at Little Tikes you’ll see they have the Cook ‘n Clean Kitchen on the homepage for nearly half off. Today’s price is just $60!

The bad news is that shipping is about $20, but use coupon code DEAL2009 for an additional 10% off to help offset that, and you can get the whole (huge) shebang delivered for around $74. (For comparison: It’s $100 plus shipping at Amazon.)

I can practically taste the plastic cupcakes, just looking at that thing.

Okay, try these on for size

The consensus seems to be that 6pm is being a bit difficult today, so I feel obligated to offer up another shoe deal.

(You know, because a morning like shoes is like a day without sunshine, or something like that. I’m sure I have that cross-stitched onto a pillow, somewhere.)

Today only, Shoes.com is offering 20% off all Naturalizer shoes. And if that doesn’t float your boat, you have a few more days to use coupon code SALE20 to take an additional 20% off shoes already on sale. I just checked, and you can actually stack the code with the Naturalizer sale (wow!), so you could get some nice shoes on a great deal, that way.

Shipping and returns are always free. Hopefully this makes up for the disappearing shoes from the last post. Still BFFs?

Yes, please. Maybe.

Okay, so, try as I might not to look over at 6pm.com, I can’t help it.

And today they supposedly have all Ros Hommerson shoes for just $13, which is positively swoon-worthy if it includes some of those kickin’ $200 boots, but what I’m seeing at this moment is that only some of the shoes are marked down.

If I had more time, I’d probably buy what I wanted and then call them and argue the price. But I’m headed out for a bit, so I will leave it to one of you to figure out if those riding boots are worth fighting for at that price. (Hint: Yes.)

Pretty readers, pretty discounts

Two of my favorite stores have good offers available right now, and two exceptionally pretty readers wrote in to let me know.

First, Heather wanted to share that right now at Lands’ End you can get free shipping with coupon code EVERGREEN and PIN 2425, through November 17th, 2009. My love for Lands’ End is so deep that I’m posting this even though they recently kicked bargain-hunters like me out of their affiliate program, preferring to focus on affiliates who don’t get excited about stuff at 80% off. Hmph.

Second, Shari clued me in to a great promotion running at LL Bean right now: They’re offering a $10 gift card with any purchase of just $25+, from now until Christmas (and it can be done as often as once a day). Coupon code 3013598 works for free shipping, there, so you can really stock up and save.

Thanks for sharing, ladies!

It all started in Britain

Are you a fan of the hit NBC show The Office? My husband laughs at me, because I insist on watching it, but I often cringe through the entire episode. (I believe the phrase “hurts so good” applies, here.) You know that it’s based upon a British series of the same name, right? Today’s Amazon Gold Box Deal is the original series of The Office on 2 DVDs—nearly eight hours of cringe-worthy, hilarious comedy.

At $25 it makes an easy gift for that distant relative or friend who can be hard to buy for. Or—heck—at that price, you can pick up a set for yourself without guilt.

Leap into learning toys

Do you hear it? Off in the distance??

No, not sleigh bells, silly—it’s the sound of toy specials being busted out at Amazon. Ahhhhhhh. Music to my ears!

If your little one is wanting something from the LeapFrog family of learning toys this holiday season, now’s the time to buy. There’s deals on Leapsters, Tags, Didj, Clickstart, and Zippity! Be sure to read the offer you’re after; for example, the Tag systems are already marked down $10, but then there’s an additional code (LPAHW100) to get another $10 off!

And to answer the question someone will surely ask: Yes, I do think Black Friday will bring deals like this or maybe even a tiny bit better. But these ones don’t involve getting up at the crack of dawn, fighting through crowds, or finding out everything you want is already out of stock. So… you know.

Little people like Hanukkah, too

Okay, so on the heels of the last post I feel compelled to share this one, as well. Alert commenter Traci pointed out a deal at Toys ‘R’ Us that turns out to be a similar (but different) item, but that led to me discovering that Toys ‘R’ Us does have a great deal on the Fisher Price Little People Hanukkah set, currently available for $30 with free shipping. (It’s $40+ with shipping, currently, at Amazon).

It’s also eligible for a free bonus Santa keychain…

… because that’s not weird, when you’re buying a Hanukkah set….

Little people love their own nativity

If you’re of the celebrating-Christmas persuasion, perhaps you already have a nativity meant for your kids. We have one of the Playmobil ones, and it has approximately eleven thousand pieces, and every year my daughter takes an angry-looking Lego dude and puts him on the camel and declares it hilarious. (Truth: It sort of is.)

For very little ones, though, you can’t beat the Fisher Price Little People. And my guess is you won’t find a better deal than this: Right now the 2009 Fisher Price Little People Nativity is just $30 at Family Christian. Shipping is currently just $.99 on any order, and today only (November 11th, 2009) you can use coupon code 1265151 for 33% off any one item.

That means you can get this adorable nativity for $21 shipped, when the same set is currently running around $50 at Amazon.

Yeah, it’s a little early to be thinking about Christmas. But for a deal this good, I think we can make an exception.

Happy Veteran’s Day!

Please take a few minutes today to honor all of those who have served our country, seriously. We shouldn’t need a designated day for it, but today of all days, please do give thanks.

Somewhat less-than-seriously: I got you a present—it’s a mono test! If there’s anything more entertaining than seeing your mortified middle schooler’s reaction to the doctor’s suggestion that maybe she’s been kissing boys, I don’t want to know what it is.

Oh, did you not want the mono test, or feel it wasn’t really appropriate for today? Okay, then. How about the Barnes and Noble Deal of the Day, instead? It’s the complete Tour of Duty series for just $55. (The same set is currently $95 at Amazon.) I guess that’s a little more holiday-appropriate.

But I’d probably still be careful about kissing boys, just to be on the safe side.
