Gotta getta gift card
(Does anyone else remember the full-page ads that used to run in Seventeen magazine and the like, showing only a close-up of a stuffed animal, with the text “Gotta Getta Gund?” I don’t know why I remembered that this morning, but now I feel old. Tell me it’s not just me!)
Here’s a deal for you if you’re in the market for gift cards this season: Right now at Best Buy, get a free $10 gift card with the purchase of a $25 gift card and a $25 iTunes card. So you spend $50, but you get $60 worth of cards.
But wait, there’s more—you also get a year’s supply of turtle wax! Oh, wait. No you don’t. But they are running a special this week where if you pay with Paypal, you can get $20 back on a purchase of $100+. If you combined the two (although it’s only letting me put one “free” card in my card, even if I double quantities), you could really rack up the savings.
Saturday deals
Good morning! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and my dog is trying to find the flock of wild turkeys that walked through the yard yesterday. Don’t ask. But it’s sort of hilarious.
If wild turkeys aren’t your thing, here are a few other finds worth chasing.
Get your fine dining on at Restaurant.com, and all weekend long you can use coupon code DINE to save 70% on your certificate purchase. That means $25 worth of food you didn’t have to cook yourself for just $3, so I really don’t see how you can go wrong.
It’s Friends and Family weekend at The Limited; use coupon code 678 at checkout for 30% off everything.
All outerwear is on sale at Old Navy; save up to 50% on some styles. It kind of makes me want a new winter coat, even though the one I have will probably last forever, on account of winter is only a week long here in the south.
It looks like Best Buy is doing a Deal of the Day thing through Christmas—today it’s a 42″ flat-screen TV. Excuse me, I have to go accidentally throw something at my crummy television…. (Amazon’s got a 32″ flat-screen in the Gold Box today for even less, by the way.)
They’ve got $20 boots at 6pm.com today, plus 70% off select Clarks and loads of other deals. It even looks like yesterday’s deal on Polliwalks has been extended through the weekend, if y’all didn’t buy them all already.
Wishing for another 40% off coupon code for Justice? Your wish is my command! Try 294 to make all of your little girl’s fashion dreams come true without giving you a coronary.
Today in the Target Daily Deals there’s a Wellness Kit on half price sale that might be a nice little thing to ship to your favorite college student, or if you’re freaking out about swine flu, they also have a nice price on a respirator mask. Ahem.
These are a few of my favorite… magazines! There’s more subscription deals to be had at Amazon: Get Good Housekeeping, Family Fun, or Parents all for under $5! My other favorite, Working Mother, is just $7 for the year.
I’ll be back later with the winner of this week’s contest, and perhaps something else to give away….
Friday, start me up
I got up extra-super-early to check out the Amazon Friday Sale before I head off to school with one of my kids this morning to make some heads roll. (Just kidding! I hardly ever beat up kids!) I tell you this by way of explanation; I’m a in something of A Mood. But I’m sure the sale won’t let me down….
Ladies and gentlemen, we have our first Christmas tree of the season. I think they showed remarkable restraint, waiting until November. (Not a bad price on a 9-foot tree, either, I suppose.)
In the market for a set of stainless cookware? Wolfgang Puck’s stuff is high-quality, and you could do a lot worse than 10 pieces for $90. If you’d rather go non-stick, the 10-piece anodized Earth Pan set is $115.
Look away, teetotalers—sometimes you care enough to send the very best… whiskey! If you do, maybe you’d like a half-price decanter to go with it. (I despise whiskey. But isn’t the decanter pretty? I won’t tell if you fill it with apple juice.)
There’s a zillion choices of K-Cups in the Grocery section, so if you have a coffeemaker that takes those, today is probably a good day to stock up.
If you or someone you love has a daily pill regimen, check out this pill dispenser—you can fill it with 28 days worth of meds, plus it’s got an alarm clock/timer built in. Perfect for absent-minded med management.
Hey, um, Friday Sale? You can do better than that. Please meet me in the principal’s office. And yes, I am making Mad Eyebrows at you.
Today’s Gold Box Deal is 61% off the complete series of Ally McBeal on DVD, and I’ll confess I used to watch that show religiously. Love me some David E. Kelley drama, yes I do. (Tell me you were a die-hard fan of Picket Fences back in the day and I’m yours.) And of course there’s the November crop of 50 MP3 albums for $5 each, too. Oh! I should’ve checked my mail—here’s Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party 2 for the Wii (with the mat!) for just $25. Thanks, BB! I’m picking that up for us!
Still deal-hungry? 6pm.com is featuring Polliwalks for under $10 apiece today, and if you don’t think ever small child should be wearing a pair of these adorable shoes, you have no soul. And the Target Daily Deals today feature a Victorinox wheeled backpack that I suspect could kill a man if necessary. And while I’m not suggesting that anyone here really needs 60 boxes of fancy tea, if for some reason you do, you might want to check out today’s deal at Graveyard Mall. (That’d take care of teacher gifts, hostess gifts, gift baskets, and your caffeine needs for an entire year, right?)
Have a great Friday, everyone!
Once more, for the kids
I know you’ve been watching The Children’s Place for markdowns, because the prices have been falling and where better to get adorable kids’ clothes on a budget? But this is just your friendly little reminder that they’ve slashed prices yet again, and if you haven’t been over there lately, well, you might want to check it out.
Shipping is a flat $5 on every order. Use coupon code HA299 for 20% off orders of $75+, or code K6999 for 15% off any size order.
I admit it—TCP and me, we’re BFFs. (No, really. I just placed an order a couple of weeks ago, and I’m going back for more. Heh.)
Drink the Disney Blu-ray KoolAid
Traci sent this one along, and she’s very pretty, not the least of which because she says, “While I don’t have a Blu-ray player yet, I know it is inevitable that my family will eventually get one. So instead of buying regular DVDs I try to get the Blu-ray/DVD combo packs when available (and a digital copy thrown in is even better!).” That’s smart thinking.
So here’s the deal: Right now you can buy an Up Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and get $10 off another Blu-ray disc at Amazon. The best bang for your buck is the 4-disc Up set plus the 4-disc Monsters Inc. set, but you could choose something else if you liked. (8 discs for around $30, though—that’s hard to beat.)
Just use coupon code DISNEYBD at checkout for your additional savings.
I may just need one
Ever since the acquisition of Nonobaddog (not really her name, but it probably should be…), I’ve come to view our carpets in a whole new light. A new, she’s-dragging-her-butt-again or please-don’t-puke-there kind of light. (You’re welcome!)
So I’m once again looking at carpet cleaners.
Today’s Target Daily Deals include the Hoover PowerMax SpinScrub Steam Vac for $150 shipped. Except that you can get it for $145 shipped, because if you want it, you can click through this link here to save an additional $5.
You know, just in case there’s a Nonobaddog living at your house, too.
Checking off the list
Have some hard-to-buy-for folks on your list, or a really great teacher, perhaps? Right now you can get a year’s subscription to National Geographic for just $10. (The extra $5 will be deducted at checkout.)
If that isn’t the perfect holiday gift for your favorite social studies teacher, well, I don’t know what is. (And no, I am not suggesting you go all stalker and figure out the teacher’s home address. It’s fine to send it to the school.)
Black Friday on Wednesday?
I don’t know why, but I’m not going to argue—right now Smartbargains is doing a “Countdown to Black Friday” promotion where a few choice items are marked way, way down for your enjoyment.
(Rather than linking you directly to the promo—which can be found partway down the page on the right—I’m linking you through a 10% off coupon for maximal savings. You’re welcome!)
Is it just for today? Is it 10 specials every day until the actual Black Friday? I’m not sure. But I like it.
From paper to digital
Once upon a time I was someone with lots of undeveloped film. Now I’m someone with lots of digital files of photos, but no prints. It’s not that I have anything against prints, just that I’m lazy and disorganized. (But honest!)
If you were once a slave to film and paper, though, you might want to check out today’s Target Daily Deals—they’ve got the Hammacher Schlemmer portable digital photo converter available for $63 shipped (about half price). Perfect for finally cataloging all of your BD (Before Digital) prints, or for urging your folks or other favorite Luddite to do the same.
I can’t seem to dig up any reviews, but H-S is generally pretty good stuff.
Beautiful corners
Today’s Amazon Gold Box Deal is a Hitachi compound miter saw for $99. It has great reviews, and even a tool dummy like me knows that you need a good miter saw for making pretty corners on things like picture frames, crown molding, and rotten children.
Just kidding about that last one. If I got such a good deal on a nice saw like that, I’d hate to dull it on my offspring.
