Big deals on baking sets

Here’s a neat one if you love bakeware (guilty!) or need a smart-looking wedding gift:

Right now Amazon is offering select 3-piece Reco International baking sets marked down from $40 to the $11 or $12 range. There are also bonus offers available, like a free Reco cookbook if you spend $24.99+ (which you will anyway, to get free shipping, right?) and a free KaiserFlex silicone spoon for a $30+ bakeware purchase.

I notice the prices seem to be jumping all around on these… the deal probably won’t last long. Get in there if you’re interested.

Tax-free, baby

Just in case you’re not able to accomplish all of your necessary back-to-school shopping online (and believe me, I’ve tried, but sometimes you just need to hit the stores), be sure to mark your calendar with your state’s tax-free days, if you’re living in a state that has ’em.

Georgia is tax-free this coming weekend. I guess that would be a good time for me to go buy all of the pencils my children will need to lose this year. The money I save on taxes can go towards more pencils in January, when they both swear they don’t have a single thing to write with and their pencil cases were raided by graphite-hungry aliens.

Dapper deals

My favorite kind of sale is when the stuff already on sale gets additionally marked down. For one thing, everything is incredibly cheap; for another, I sort of feel like I’m getting a double-deal. Anyway. Right now at Jos. A. Bank, anything that’s left in their clearance section is an additional 50% off, through August 2nd, 2008. You’ll also get free 2-day shipping on your $175+ order, automatically.

My experience with these sales is that sizes and colors are limited, so you’ll need some patience… but if you take the time, you’ll likely be rewarded with some awesome deals. (And a well-dressed husband. I do like me a cute man in a suit.)

Need some Tevas?

I’m sorry, I feel like I’ve posted a million shoe deals lately, but really, can a person have too many pairs of shoes? I mean, when they’re fabulous shoes gotten on sale? I think not.

Anyway, I can’t figure out how to link directly for some reason, but if you hop on over to 6pm Shoes and do a search on “Teva,” you’ll find a vast array of Tevas marked down to $19.95.

$19.95 is about the most I’m willing to pay for a pair of shoes. What I want to know is who was paying the original prices for these things? ($79 for sport sandals? Really?)

Here’s my package from Kohls

The mail lady just brought me a giant package of socks and underwear, and I’m delighted. Really, some days it just doesn’t take that much to make me happy. Ahem.

Anyway, last week I suggested you stock up for school utilizing some codes and deals at Kohls that were expiring. Now today I see that they’ve both extended the free shipping on $75+ offer and issued a new 15% off code, so really, I guess there wasn’t any hurry after all. (Nonetheless, school’s almost here. Get your order in!)

So: If you’re a Kohls’ cardholder, use coupon code MVC1514 for free shipping on any size order and code PICK15BTS for 15% off. For non-cardholders, you can still use code NEW1082 for an extra 10% off.

And then you won’t have to be jealous that I’m sitting here awash in cheap, tiny underpants.

Think of it as time to shower

I generally dislike kids’ DVDs which are essentially long commercials for this or that product, but I make an except when 1) the kids find them really captivating and 2) they’re free.

Go ahead and sign up for a free GeoTrax DVD and consider this: The time it gives you to shower, uninterrupted, may be worth the little bit of whining about which GeoTrax they need you to buy them, right now, please please please Mommy.

Almost as good as bacon

In the grand ranking scheme of goodness in life, my family often rates things relative to bacon or chocolate, to communicate exactly how wonderful they are. I’d say the following isn’t quite as good as chocolate, but it’s almost as good as bacon: Right now Target has a coupon available for $5 off of $50. This is especially handy because many store areas are offering free shipping on $50+ worth of items.

So, use coupon code TCSXCA3B to pick up school uniforms or dorm supplies or whatever it is you need, and not only will you save $5 off of your $50+ order, it’ll ship for free (look for the stuff that says free shipping over $50) and you won’t have to spend $100/gallon on gas to get to the store.

Actually, maybe this is better than bacon—no calories!

Shooooooooes, Gromit!

Get free shipping 2nd pair half price
School starts here in less than two weeks (!!) and I am in full-on back-to-school mode. In fact, all I have left is new sneakers for the kids. (For some reason they insist on having shoes that actually fit their feet, even though they had the audacity to grow faster than I wanted them to. Hmph.) So today I’m cruising the options over at Famous Footwear; shipping is always free, buying one pair gets you the second one at half price, and today only (July 27th, 2008) you can use coupon code 0708299 for 20% off your order on top of that.

At these prices, I can buy them each a couple of pairs. Or maybe get their sneakers and then find something cute for me….

(Psssst! They have lots of name-brand backpacks, too!)

Saturday deals

Good morning! I’m not here right now, but snag a bargain at the beep and I’ll high-five you when I get back.

Through July 29th, 2008, go shop the Get Fabulous Sale at LaneBryant.com and use coupon code 000409971 to take 40% off your total purchase.

You can Save $20 on your $300+ order at Overstock.com all weekend long, through that there link. (Placing a smaller order? You can take $5 off your $100+ purchase, instead.)

If nothing but a Jansport backpack will do for your kid, buy ’em through that link at Buy.com to get free shipping.

Today’s the last day to save at the Footlocker.com Friends and Family sale; take 30% off your order with coupon code LKS18LFF.

They’re having a buy 1, get 1 free on all Criterion Collection DVDs at Deep Discount. (The discount should happen automatically though that link, but if it doesn’t, you want code B1G1CRITE0807.)

Over at The Company Store, it’s your last chance to shop their deeply discounted Christmas in July items, plus through July 27th, 2008, take 15% off everything except clearance with coupon code T8GFTH.

There. That should hold you for a while. BEEP!

I’ll be your Girl Friday

(One of these days I’m totally going to rig up an Amazon cheerleader outfit for myself, and I’ll wear it every Friday. I’m only sort of kidding.)

Good morning! It’s my favorite day of the week—the week goes Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, AmazonFridaySale, Saturday. Yes.

Let’s see what goodies they have today….

Oh, look! It’s the perfect gift for that person with uncontrolled OCD: a interchangeable lining cutting board set. Use one color for meats! One for veggies! One for fruits! One for cutting your pills into smaller pieces! (Oh, I kid. But I’m pretty sure that if you clean your cutting board with soap, that’ll get it clean. Just sayin’.)

To be filed under Appliances That Intrigue Me: A toaster oven with two chambers (that’s also a convection oven), this food steamer, and a panini grill. (Knowing me, I’d buy that last one and then the kids would start refusing to eat grilled cheese unless it had wavy lines on it.)

Remember when these egg and muffin stations were $50 and impossible to find? How does $26.99 and eligible for the 4-for-3 promotion sound? (Don’t forget that you can mix and match; you don’t have to get four muffin makers to take advantage of the deal. Though if you really love egg muffins, hey, have at it.)

Hardly dirt cheap, but this is a great deal on a very pretty Spode pitcher. That’d make a lovely wedding gift.

Scooba!!

EarthBox! (again)

There’s a bunch of Bentley tea sets in the sale today (check out this pretty wooden chest), and in addition to being on sale they’re still eligible for 50% off on top of that with coupon code TEAGIFT5. These are great for teacher and thank-you gifts throughout the year.

Did you notice who’s front and center in the Friday Five today? It’s Nevermind by Nirvana, doubtless in celebration of cover-baby Spencer Elden’s 18th birthday. Rock on!

Enjoy your day, everyone! TGIF!
