Who’s a good pet owner? You are! Yes you are!
I don’t currently have a pet. Well, unless you want to count the lizard who lives on our deck. And I don’t count him, because no matter how many times I say to him, “Bob! Good to see you!” he remains cold and aloof, because it turns out that lizards aren’t terribly cuddly.
But if I did have a pet, I’d probably buy his food from Pet Food Direct, because their prices are good and I am lazy and they ship it directly to you. (Hey, I used to to have a dog and I lugged a 40-pound bag of food home exactly once. After that, I was all about the online pet store.) And because I like you so much, here’s a coupon to sweeten the deal: Use code PER10PCT to take an additional 10% off your order.
Just don’t blow it all on pig ears. I mean, unless you’re into that sort of thing.
For the cooking freshman
Whether you’re a newbie chef or just looking to supplement your kitchen, today’s the day to check out the Cooking 101 sets at Linens ‘N’ Things. They’re
$19.99 $14.99 apiece, but buy one and the second one is half price—plus your order will ship for free.
Make it even better: Use coupon code 26620000008 for 20% off one item, and save another few bucks. That’s two great cooking sets for under $26 $20 shipped. Think bridal showers, think weddings, think headed-off-to-college, think “Hey, I’d probably make my own pizza and save a lot of money if I had that there pizza stone….”
Never leave hippies in charge of the coffee
So, yesterday I was perusing the grocery clearance items at Amazon which I’d linked to, because after I post a deal like that I often go in and do a bit of shopping, myself.
And then I stumbled across this little item. I cannot imagine why it’s on clearance. Truly. Why, let’s take a look at the description:
- One 5-pound bag of 100 percent soybeans flavored with hazelnut; brews just like coffee
- Made with organic soybeans; naturally caffeine-free with no acidity; hazelnut flavoring includes peanut extract
- Certified USDA organic soybeans chosen for excellent taste and growing standards
- Full-bodied flavor of gourmet coffee combined with acid-reducing benefits and goodness of soy
- Soybeans from exclusive growers in Minnesota
“Brews just like coffee?” Um, no. Brewed coffee beans yield coffee. Brewed soybeans yield… tofu water. Yuuuuuuuuck.
Hey, even my vegan friend was moved to comment “Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.”
Don’t forget the Thursday Morning Markdown
It’s a Swift River cardigan sweater, over at LL Bean. Today only it’s just $14. Choose from three colors.
While you’re there, you may want to take a look at the book packs on sale—get a jump on school shopping, maybe.
(I finally broke down and bought my kids LL Bean lunch bags. Now they will last an entire year, or I can send ’em back for new ones. Hmph.)
Don’t forget that coupon code 3001059 will give you free shipping, too!
You know how I love cheap sheets
Well, not cheaply-made sheets, but nice sheets at a great price, sure. And it seems like I haven’t been posting too many sheets deals, lately, so here you go—450 thread count pima cotton, just $26.21 for queen size.
Sweet dreams!
Don’t forget to stock up on cheap pantry items
It looks like Amazon’s grocery clearance (started last month) is continuing on, which is good news if you, like me, find great joy in buying bulk amounts of food for pennies on the dollar. Yes! Snacks for everyone!
Check out the clearance grocery items—many of which are already deeply discounted—and then apply coupon code MAYGRCCL for an additional $10 off purchases of $25+.
Maximize your savings by getting your total as close to $25 as possible, of course. Like, say, with these all-natural popchips? (Attention moms of children with orthodonture: This is a great alternative to the forbidden popcorn. Just sayin’.) 12 bags for $15 shipped. That’s a lot of snacking!
By the way, don’t fear the expirations dates on clearanced food items at Amazon. Very rarely I’ve gotten expired items from them, and they’ve always refunded my money (and told me to just throw out the items). No hassles.
Blah blah superlatives blah blah
Apparently today is the absolutely hugest, biggest, most enormous One Day Sale at Macy’s the world has ever seen.
Totally different from all of those other one day sales they’ve had, I’m sure.
So, yeah, I’m skeptical, but still, I do love me some Macy’s savings. They’ve got a whole bunch of Dooney & Bourke stuff half off, for example. Not exactly cheap, but if you’re in the market, it’s hard to turn down savings like that.
(Until the next gigantic sale, anyway.)
Get more at Kroger
Do you do your grocery shopping at Kroger? Through the end of July, they’re offering a bonus 10% on all in-store purchased gift cards in the amounts of $300, $600, or $1200.
I know it seems like a lot of money to lay out up front, but if you do most of your food shopping there and can afford this, it’s an easy way to save 10% on your groceries over the next few months.
(I’m torn, because these days I do most of my shopping at Publix. I pop into Kroger for shelf-stable stuff now and then, though, so I will probably go ahead and buy a $300 card….)
Earth-lovin’ DVDs deal
Right now at the Discovery Channel Store, buy the When We Left Earth set and get 2 more DVDs free.
When We Left Earth is the 4-DVD set in honor of NASA’s 50th anniversary, covering all sorts of stuff Dad would probably love. The bonus DVDs are Planet Earth Pole to Pole and Sunrise Earth: America’s Greatest Sunrises. So it’s 6 DVDs in all, for $69.95 and free shipping.
Plus, it’s edumakational.
Really, there’s no need to brawl
No, we still don’t have a Wii. Yes, I’m still a little bit bitter about that. (Truth: Every time I start thinking it’s a good idea, I can’t find one. And every time I find one I’ve managed to convince myself we don’t need one.)
I keep an eye on the Wii game deals, though. Because I care. And I’m hoping you’ll invite me over to play.
Anyway, right now Super Smash Brothers Brawl for the Wii is just $39.99 at Amazon; a good $10 cheaper than I’ve seen it anywhere else. But it gets better, because if you order by June 26th, 2008, you’ll also get a $10 Amazon gift card with your purchase.
And I promise to help you figure out what to spend it on.
