Free Family Fun
Not that I actually have any time to read magazines anymore, but when I do, my favorite one by far is Family Fun. It has great recipes and crafts and stuff for families with kids of all ages, and is also great for the “Mom can I please please please cut up a magazine” stack, because the advertisements have plenty of things that interest the kids. (One year my son methodically worked his way through the stack, cutting out every puppy he could find. There were kind of a lot.)
Anyway, if you go sign up for Party City’s Party Club, they’ll give you a year’s subscription to Family Fun for free. (If you already have a subscription, be sure to input your name and address exactly as they appear on your current subscription, and it should add a year to your account.)
Big deals, free shipping
(At first I wasn’t paying attention, and I type “Bog deals,” and then I was tempted to leave it that way. Because I am 10. Oh well; propriety won out.)
Anyhoo! Free shipping on your $50+ purchase at Boscovs is back again for a limited time. There’s tons of deals to be had in the Outlet section, including a very tempting selection of Dooney and Bourke handbags on clearance. Yeah, they still cost way too much, but if you’re into that sort of thing, this is one way to save a few dollars.
Or you could be good and buy something less extravagant, and/or something for someone else. Killjoy.
If you can bear to think about eating
Personally, I am still full from last night’s gluttony. But you may be of stronger constitution than I.
It’s Restaurant.com deal time again! This time you can use coupon code SUPER through February 6th, 2008, to take 60% off your total order. That means you’re getting $25 of dining out for just $4! Plus, through Valentine’s Day, each certificate will also get you a code for 25% off any purchase at de La Flowers. Just in case you or someone you know needs some flowers delivered.
Keep in mind that many participating restaurants only offer a limited number of certificates per month—so now is the time to get in on the deals, before they sell out. (Those restaurants tend to sell out the first week of the month, leaving you annoyed for the remaining three and a half weeks.) If you haven’t tried Restaurant.com yet, what are you waiting for? It’s like free money (and also, hello, a great excuse to go out to eat).
A reason to sing in the rain
I know it feels like it was just Christmas (possibly because… it was just Christmas), but guess what’s happening pretty early this year? That’s right! Easter!
Our family has always been big fans of some “welcome Spring” type items in an Easter basket rather than just a pile of candy. So we often do sidewalk chalk, jumpropes, etc. One of the kids’ favorite things to find in their baskets are umbrellas. Why do they love umbrellas so? I have no idea. And at the rate at which they destroy them, I’m certainly not going to pay a lot for them… but something like these kids umbrellas from Overstock would fit the bill nicely. Just $8 each (and I think shipping is still free today) and dangerously cute.
Besides, with one of these to open? They totally won’t notice when you sneak all their Cadbury cream eggs.
It’s like a bonus Friday
I do believe that the folks at Amazon’s are Patriots fans, y’all. How else can we explain a Kitchen and Home One Day Sale right on the heels of the Friday Sale? Clearly, they’re trying to ease my pain.
There’s too many deals to list, but this stainless steel frother for 80% off would be a good place to start. Or the Vacu Vin wine saver for 60% off. Both are part of the 4-for-3 promotion, by the way, so whether you’re buying gifts or stocking up for yourself, there’s even better deals to be had if you’re buying several things.
(Hmmmm. Weird. I still want to kick Tom Brady in the shins. I guess Amazon isn’t as powerful as I thought.)
Flat Earth? Free Earth!
Today (February 3rd, 2008) only, and only while supplies last, you can go on over to Flat Earth and get a coupon for a free full-size bag of their crisps. (Thanks, Brigitte!)
You can print your coupon and go pick ’em up and eat ’em while the Patriots pound the Giants into submission, even. Ooops! Did I say that last part out loud…?
Saturday deals
Just a few things to check out today, if you’re so inclined….
The Overstock weekend deal is free shipping, which… Zzzzzzz… I’m sorry, I fell asleep there… what were we talking about? Oh, right. Anyway, they’re also offering 20% off cashmere and 10% off jewelry and watches, which sort of makes up for that useless free shipping coupon. (When shipping is only $2.99, does anyone care when it’s free…?)
Sharper Image has a nice digital photo keychain on sale for half off, right now. (Valentine’s Day?)
Graveyard Mall’s Deal of the Day includes a futuristic-looking three-pack of Master Locks for $5.79.
Get a free Auntie Anne’s soft pretzel today between 10:00 and 4:00 to celebrate their 20th birthday! (Mmmmm… Auntie Anne’s.) Find your local store and go enjoy.
Wild Ties’ deal of the day is a Valentine’s Day tie which is… ummm… colorful, and only $.95. Shipping is $4.95.
There’s tons of stuff in the Kohls clearance, and $.99-per-item shipping is back, too. (I think some of the recent coupons posted are still valid… feel free to search for them here, because I have to go make my kids some pancakes.)
Soon, the Amazon Friday Sale will peek out. . .
… from its hiding place deep in the Outlet, and if it sees its shadow, that means 6 more weeks of winter!
Uhhhhh. Wait. Maybe it’s that if the Amazon Friday Sale has dirt-cheap flannel sheets, that means 6 more weeks of winter. I can never remember.
Anyway! Bad metaphors aside, it’s my favorite day of the week, people.
While not on particularly huge markdown, I feel the need to link to this cow humidifier just because it makes me laugh. (But, well, there is a $10 off $49+ on Crane humidifiers coupon—CRANE208—so if you needed two, that would be a pretty good deal.)
I have no idea why this and this are listed in the Automotive section, but I am weirdly mesmerized by them.
My husband is so getting one of these tripod keychain lights in his stocking next year.
What was that I was saying about cheap flannel sheets…?
I think these towels were in the sale a couple of weeks ago, but they’re even cheaper now. And still adorable.
My parents have one of these hammock chairs and I am here to tell you that it is deadly. Once you get in, you never want to get out!
Need some casserole dishes?
*whispering* That’s it! That’s the Holy Grail of KitchenAids, right there. (Whoops. I think I drooled on my keyboard.) 50% off. Oh man. Must. Stop. Looking. (Alas. Hey, if you want a refurb one in black, those are just $149.99.)
Here’s hoping you start off February right, with plenty of love and happiness and awesome bargains.
Mmmm, cognitive dissonance cereal
I really do not think that the words “fiber one” and “caramel delight” should go together—ever—but I am not the one marketing the cereal.
If you dare, go get some for free.
(I think I’ll be sticking to this granola I made yesterday, but you knock yourself out.)
They had me at Mythbusters
Oh, how I love the Discovery Channel. Yes, I am a geek. So it’s possible that I’m salivating a bit over this Best of Discovery Collection Volume 4 DVD Set
, which contains 5 discs of great Discovery Channel shows, including my family’s favorite—Mythbusters. It’s just $9.99 (already a bargain), but when you add it to your cart you’ll see an automatic $3 discount, which more or less covers your shipping.
And then you can watch the Mythbusters blow stuff up, or other great geektastic shows. It’s educational. Stop looking at me like that.
