Boost ’em for less

If you’re in the market for a toddler/youth booster seat for your car, I heartily recommend the Graco Turbo Booster—it’s the seat I’ve used for both of my kids for years. And if this fabric works for you, I even more heartily recommend that you snap this one up on sale, as it’s currently $36.24 shipped. This seat is usually $50 at Target, and sometimes goes on sale for $45 or $40. But then you have to lug it home, too.

Just to give you an idea of how versatile it is: It claims to go from 30 to 100 pounds, and I sort of scoffed when I saw that. But the back is adjustable, and my daughter only this month requested to go “backless” because she felt it was getting a bit too short for her. She’s almost 10.

Turkey platter: Tacky or necessary?

I’m that person who hosts Thanksgiving dinner and then realizes that I don’t have a suitable platter for the turkey, and oh, by the way, I meant to buy a gravy boat but never did. Oops!

So I’ll confess, I’m tempted by this turkey platter seticon at Linens N Things, because it’s marked down to just $4.99 with free shipping, plus you can use coupon code 26620000008 for an additional 20% off of one item. Sure, all four pieces are shaped like turkeys and that sort of makes my eye twitch, but isn’t that what Thanksgiving is all about?

(Psssst! Just a reminder, all of the Deals of the Dayicon at Linens N Things always have free shipping, not just the tacky turkeys.)

And speaking of Lego. . .

… this Lego storage tray uniticon is down to just $19.98, the lowest I’ve ever seen it. Shipping is just $4.95, too.

If your Legos runneth over from the recent holidays (not that I would know anything about that, no, I just enjoy walking around with small plastic bricks embedded in my feet), you might want to pick up one or two.

Hey, it’s cheaper than just sending the kid off to military school.

Shiny things at Amazon

You know I can’t resist it when Amazon has one of these 48-hour Kitchen and Home Sale thingies. So many pretty, shiny things!

(Winning the “Most Shiny But Ridiculously Priced” award is this trash can, because if I’m going to spend $290 on sale on a waste bin, it had best clear the table for me.)

And if you waffled on the cheap KitchenAid mixer last week during the Friday Sale, or really wanted the white one, you’re in luck! Get the white 5-quart model for just $189.99, right now. Or save a few more bucks—go refurbished for $139.99. (And don’t forget the current available $30 rebate on KitchenAids, either!)

There’s tons of other good deals, too, of course. You’ll find them by browsing around. Like this knife set for $39.99; it has mixed reviews, but I’d consider buying it for that cool knife block, alone, at that price. I’m weird that way, though.

Find yourself needing a filler item to get your cart up to free shipping? Howzabout a $.99 spoon or two? There ya go.

It’s not Paris, but. . .

Have an advanced Lego lover in your life? (Wow. Sorry, I didn’t intend all of that alliteration. It sort of makes it sound dirty. I apologize.) Perhaps you’re ready for the Lego Eiffel Tower. Right now it’s marked down to $139.99, which is still a fortune, but is 30% off… and by the way, the finished product is 3.5 feet tall, made of nearly 3,500 pieces. (Too bad they’re all grey.)

It’s billed as ages 16+, but read the (excellent) reviews—it sounds like adept kids around 10 or so can manage this with some help.

We all know Amazon sometimes inflates original prices, so for comparison I’ll point out that the same kit is currently $199.99 on the Lego siteicon.

Oh-so-cozy, on the cheap

Every now and then someone asks me what I think about microfleece sheets, and I’m always hesitant to agree they sound like a great idea. Frankly, they sound like they’d be nice on a sub-zero day when the heat is broken, but like a washing machine and hot flash nightmare, otherwise. Just my opinion, of course.

On the other hand, we use microfleece blankets here and I pink puffy heart them. They keep you warm and cozy, and I can still put my nice smooth (sateen!) sheets next to everyone’s skin. Perfect.

In the market for fleece blankets? Well, over at Domestications, the fleece blankets are buy 1, get the 2nd half off just $10 apiece right now. (It says $19.99 apiece, but once in your cart they appear as $10 each. Thanks, Jules!)

Shipping on two will be just $5.99, and you can use coupon code D8A5AFF to take $5 off your order. Happy snuggling!

Say goodbye to all those catalogs

I hate receiving catalogs in the mail. Hate. It’s a waste of paper, it clutters up the house, and if I want to order something from a company that has a catalog, I’ll just do it online. Sheesh.

Want to stop the endless flow of catalogs to your house? Catalog Choice is a free service that allows you to decline specific catalogs. So if you want to keep a certain catalog or two, you can, but you can get rid of the rest. Or get rid of them all. Hallelujah!

So happy it’s Friday, I’m gonna bake a cake

(Yes, I surely need cake after endless weeks of Christmas and New Years and birthday celebrations. Shut it.)

But before I bake a cake I am going to peruse the Amazon Friday Sale. Because I’m like that.

I should totally get these seat covers to pimp out my mom-mobile, don’t you think? (On a related note, does anyone know why my children have started pretending not to know me…?)

Oh, wow. File this one under “In case you don’t like your kid very much”: How about a safety helmet with surround sound? I guess that’s for when mixing a helmet-worthy sport with loud music seems like an awesome idea.

I used to have one of the early George Foreman grills—which I assure you cost a lot more than this—and which was so difficult to clean I happily let my ex claim it in our divorce. But now it’s not only on sale, it comes with 5 different kinds of dishwasher-safe removable cooking plates, which tempts me to try it again.

Cheap KitchenAid mixer alert! (Black is the cheapest, though a few other colors are marked down as well.)

A medium-size bamboo cutting board is a great way to round out any kitchen gift; it’s always useful and makes it look like you spent a lot more than you actually did.

I have seen the way and the truth and the light when it comes to perfect cornbread, and it is pre-heating one of these with a chunk of butter in it. Mmmmmm.

How about a whole set of Anolon professional cookware for $149.99? Adding enough other Anolon to get your total up to $200 also gets you this 5-quart sauteuse for free!

No, it’s not a typo—it’s really a queen-sized flannel sheet set for $5.99. (That’s what I’m talkin’ about, Friday Sale!)

Make a small person in your life deliriously happy to bathe.

These have great ratings and are half off, but personally I feel it’s important not to eat anything called “HOOAH!” unless I absolutely have to.

Have a great Friday, everyone!

Feed your need for caffeine, cheap

Live in the land of Kroger? Coke is on sale at most Krogers.

How much on sale, you ask? Check it out: If you’re in one of the target areas, 4 12-packs of Coke products are $11. But if you buy 4 12-packs, you also qualify for a free 12-pack of Coke Zero.

Also, if you buy 2 12-packs, you get a free 7-ounce Combos snack. You can get up to two of these.

Also, the Coke Zero packs have peel-off coupons for a free 12-pack with the purchase of 3 12-packs.

Got all that? Bottom line: depending on how your local store allows you to combine the deals, you can end up with 5 12-packs of Coke for (assuming you like the Coke Zero enough to get at least 2 packs of it) and 14 ounces of Combos for under $7. If they’re sticky about the coupons, you can still end up with all that for under $10 (probably closer to $8).

[And all of this is unless you live where I live, which is in the greater Atlanta area (which is—it should be noted—where Coca-Cola is headquartered). If you live here, Coke is just on sale for 3 for $10, plus you can get a free case of Coke Plus, but no one actually drinks that, so I’m not calling that one a bargain.]
