Tick-Tocky, NPR lovers check it out
Oohhhhh man… today Fab.com has the latest traveling alarm clock from the same people who brought you Clocky, and this one is called… Tocky. But it gets better, because Tocky comes in different NPR flavors, so if you get the “Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me!” one, you get Peter Sagal and Carl Kasel trying to wake you up before the clock rolls away.
You know I love Fab.com, anyway, but NPR clocks? Geek Nirvana, achieved.
(Uh, there’s other great stuff there today, too. But I do love me some Karl Kasel!)
Kids’ books value bundle deal
Look, it’s no secret that I love the deals at Taste Of Home, anyway, but this one they just released this morning is making me super happy. Right now you can snag 10 favorite children’s books for just $14.99, and shipping will be free, too.
If you have little ones and don’t already own these books, buy this bundle. If you have little ones in some sort of school program, buy this bundle and use it as a classroom gift. Whether or not you have kids, this is a perfect donation gift for just about anywhere. These are classics, and hardcovers, at that.
Plus it included “Bread and Jam for Frances” which is possibly my favorite book ever. (“All I am… is sick… of… jam.”)
[Edited to add: Apply coupon code LST95 if it’s not automatically giving you the discounted price and free shipping. Sorry for any confusion!]
‘Tis the season to use up all the tape
If you’re wrapping a lot of presents—or if you have children, because who knows what they do with all of the tape they “disappear”—then you need tape. Good tape, too, because every time you buy the no-name tape you end up swearing at it later on when it doesn’t stick. (Uh, maybe that’s just me.)
So get yourself some Scotch tape and leave any present-wrapping frustration to family politics or your dog feeling like she should lay down on the wrapping paper. (That one also might just be me.) If you have Prime shipping at Amazon, or if you need a filler to get up to $25 on a Super Saver Shipping order, you can snag this 3-pack of Scotch Magic Tape for just $2 right now. Heck, if you need a whole lot of tape, they’re also running a $5 off $25+ Scotch promo right now.
I… uh… oh, dear. I might need this. Santa? Are you listening? [Edited to add: Oh hey this is coming up in the Lightning Deals in a few minutes.]
On the first Friday of December, Target gave to me…
… free shipping and an extra 20% off most men’s and women’s clothing, shoes and accessories! (How do you like my singing? It was really hard to get all of those syllables in there in one breath.)
I was, of course, checking out today’s Target Daily Deals—as I do—and for a moment I was completely blinded by their feature deal, which is Nick & Nora pajamas (so cute!), but it turns out that just about everything wearable for the grown-ups get an extra 20% off and free shipping, today. (The exclusion listed is “not exclusive designer collections” so I guess you can’t get too fancy with this, but everything else would work.) So… the featured pajamas are marked down to $18, but with the additional discount, they’re under $15.
It works on clearance, even. Today’s the day to pick up some clothing for the adults, for sure.
[Edited to add: Thanks, pretty readers, for pointing out that you can also apply coupon code TGTFZS8U for $4 off any woman’s sweater!]
Get charged up
I noticed that a few of you have been asking for rechargeable battery deals (most recently on the Facebook page), so I’ve been keeping an eye out for you.
How about this one: Amazon currently has this Duracell Value Charger With 4AA Pre Charged Rechargeable Nimh Batteries priced at just $10.99—already a good deal—but there’s also an available $1.50 coupon to clip on the page if you live in a state where Amazon offers you coupons. I’d probably pay $9.50 just for the batteries, so this is like getting the charger for free.
Definitely worth picking up if you need some more rechargeables.
Dragons! Unicorns! Books!
My children are beyond the age of dying-for-pillow-pets, thank goodness, because I do not understand. “Look, it’s a cuddly friend you can crush with your head!” It’s confusing.
Nonetheless, right now Amazon has either the 17″ pillow pet Dragon or Unicorn complete with story book for just $13.99 apiece. Not a bad deal if your kiddo goes nuts for these.
Or if you love someone enough to give them a sparkly unicorn. (Note: I’m not sure the unicorn is actually sparkly.)
Save even more with Mastercard
Are you shopping online with your Mastercard this holiday season? You can rack up the bonus savings with them, easy-peasy.
First, go register your card here so that after you make $200 in online purchases, you get a $20 gift card back from them.
Second, today only at Amazon, you can use coupon code ZKGYLEBT to take $10 off your $100+ toys/electronics order and receive a code that will give you $10 off a future $50+ order, just so long as you use the code and pay with a Mastercard.
If you’ve been considering a Kindle Fire, say, this would be a great way to save a little bit on it. Or you could just keep stalking the Lightning Deals, like me, and apply it against a bunch of smaller items.
All in all, it’s a pretty nice assortment of bonuses just for having a Mastercard!
[Thanks, Kristie!]
Even more savings to stack at Children’s Place
It’s hard to believe you haven’t already stocked up on everything you needed at Children’s Place in the last few weeks’ flurry of savings, but who knows. Maybe your kid got up 2″ taller this morning. Things happen.
Right now they’re doing Friends & Family savings, which means you can use coupon code FRIEND through the weekend for 25% off anything. You’ll also get $20 of Place Cash for every $40 you spend, eligible for redemption on your next $40+ purchase. And to top it all off, every gift card purchase of $40+ that you make gets you another $10 gift card for free.
So. If you have a lot of shopping to do, here’s what you do: Buy a $40 gift card, which actually nets you $50 in gift cards. (Just buy the cards; they’re not eligible for coupon deductions.) Shop with your gift card—spending at least $40 after coupon code—which gets you your $20 Place Cash and saves you 25% on your purchase. Then you can shop again with your bonus gift card and your Place Cash and the coupon code (again), too!
It’s a few more steps than usual, but I think the savings are probably worth it, if you have a bunch of stuff to buy. (But what do I know… I’m just the person whose kids have basically outgrown Children’s Place but I still bought them hats there, anyway, because their hats are awesome. Heh.)
Shoes and boots and… wine glasses?
Color me slightly confused, but in popping over for my daily fix at 6pm.com this morning I discovered that one of their featured boutiques today is “Home for the Holidays.” And that’s comprised largely of things like wine glasses and cookware.
Now—don’t get me wrong!—I’m not complaining. Some of the stuff they have in there is gorgeous, and the prices are certainly right. Far be it from me to pooh-pooh a deal. But it’s just causing a wee bit of cognitive dissonance, because I was looking for boots.
But I guess you just never know when you’ll need a whisk or a pie plate to go with your boots, right? Right.
If you fell in love with Zylie…
… during our recent contest, you’re going to love this: The folks at Zylie the Bear were so overwhelmed by the response to the contest, they’ve issued a coupon just for Want Not readers!
Just use code WANTNOT on your purchase for 30% off Zylie, Shen, or any of their adorable accessories. This is such a nice (and much more affordable) alternative to… erm… those dolls of approximately the same size. Ahem. Hooray for Zylie!
[Edited to add: I’ve been informed this coupon will expire on 12/15/11.]
