Pictionary, Wii style

Right now Amazon is offering up the uDraw Studio Game and Tablet for $69—turn your Wii into an art studio!—and when you buy it, you can get Pictionary uDraw (normally $30) for free! Or here—make it even easier by going to this page to add both to your cart at once via handy checkboxes. (Thanks for the tip, Carol! You’re pretty!!) Remember, the discount won’t be reflected until the last page of checkout.

Honestly, I love all the different sorts of things we can play on the Wii. But remember when they assured us that it was going to get our kids up and moving? And now we’re excited about… drawing with it? Hee.

The Blu-ray of happiness

I have given up on the Bluebird of Happiness arriving this holiday season. With all the flu in the house, I will settle for a day of no one arguing or crying, and some cuddle time on the couch with some good movies. Fortunately Amazon has some awesome Blu-ray bundles on sale right now.

I like to call it getting back to my couch-potato roots.

For the whole family:
Shrek: The Whole Story (all 4 films) for $39 (49% off)
Back to the Future Trilogy for $39 (51% off) and you can get a $10 gift card with purchase—thanks, Gayle! (Do not even talk to me about how this is now “retro;” this is good entertainment, kids! Be quiet and watch!)
Planet Earth: The Complete BBC Series for $35 (65% off)
Life (narrated by David Attenborough) for $35.49 (49% off)
National Geographic: Ultimate High-Definition Collection for $35 (59% off)

Not suitable for kids unless you want to either bore or scare them to death:
The Bourne Trilogy for $35 (50% off)
Band of Brothers for $36.49 (64% off)
The Pacific for $39 (61% off)
Alien Anthology for $70 (50% off) (Four films, plus 65 hours of bonus content. I love all things Alien and will not apologize.)

Maybe for Christmas we’ll have a movie marathon. In our pajamas. Doesn’t that sound great? (Helloooo… McFly?)

DS and iPod delights, now with money back

Alternatively, get a $15 gift card (this is different than a promotional credit—make sure to add the card to your cart) with the latest generation Apple iPod Nano 8GB, which is currently around $139 depending on which color you choose.

Not that I’m advocating picking up expensive electronics as impulse buys, you understand. I’m just sharing information.

Amazon toy markdowns, 4Gr8 Kidz furniture edition

Very few of these have reviews, and the ones that do seem to indicate quality on par with some of the stuff at Target. I.e., it’s not Pottery Barn, but it’s decent. The scent of a teenager

When I was in middle and high school—you know, back in the Pleistocene Era—the boys wore Drakkar Noir. Remember that? I do; I have a visceral reaction to that scent, even now. (It’s something between I-can’t-wait-to-get-out-of-this-dump and oh-my-gosh-is-he-looking-at-me.) Nowadays, though, the young men are all about Axe.

I know this because I know some fine young men. Men who are otherwise responsible and rational, but who view a spray-can of Axe as a challenge. And that challenge is: Can I spray every square inch of my body?

So if you have young men, likely you are running out of Axe at this very moment. No worries! You probably won’t have it in time for Christmas, but today’s Target Daily Deals include various Axe sets on sale, and you know he’s going to need more in a couple of weeks, anyway.

Choose from shower gel sets (which include a “shower detailer tool;” I… don’t want to know) or deodorant gift sets; each is 33% off, so just a cool $6 with free shipping.

I wish you and your nasal passages good luck.

P.S. That KitchenAid hand mixer is pretty sexy, too, and a great price… but I doubt your teen would agree.

Last-minute beauty gifts

We’re getting down to the wire, people—just five days until Christmas, which means if you don’t get it all done online in the next couple of days, you may have to actually visit a store. And I don’t know about you, but to me that’s a fate worse than… well… it’s pretty bad. Ahem.

If you’re needing a beauty or pampering gift for someone, Sephora still has you covered this week! Just select 2-day UPS shipping and apply coupon code UPS2Day to get that shipping for free.

Of course, if you’re done shopping for everyone else and want a little somethin’ for you, I won’t tell.

Doodle me this

These drop in price a few times a year, and they are tremendously popular every time they do—both my kids love these books, even the older I-am-too-cool-for-everything one.

The item in question? Doodle books! They’re not coloring books; think of them more as idea books. They’re perfect for kids who are a little too old for coloring books but who might face a blank sheet of paper and declare “I don’t know what to draw!” These bridge the gap nicely. (Also, they’re huge. I’m always surprised at how big they are.)

Do You Doodle? for $5.03 (61% off)
The Boys Doodle Book for $5.05 (61% off)
The Girls Doodle Book for $5.05 (61% off)
Beautiful Doodles for $4.72 (64% off)

DS games, cheaper in pairs

Need another couple Nintendo DS games to round out the stash? Amazon is currently offering an assortment of their most popular DS games where any two together will cost just $39. Now, this may not seem like much of a deal if you’ve been stocking up on the $10 deals here and there, but this promotion includes hardly-ever-reduced, super-popular games like Zhu Zhu Pets: Wild Bunch with Bonus Hamster and Super Scribblenauts, so if games you’ve been watching are included, this may be the deal to beat.

And really, can you put a price on being able to make a cannibalistic pregnant toilet that births and then eats its tiny toilet offspring? I say no. (Yes, Super Scribblenauts really never gets old, that way.)
