Please don’t tell my kid

Keep this one on the down low, please. (Also keep on the down low how stupid and tragically unhip I sound when I say things like “keep this one on the down low.”) If my daughter finds out, I’ll have to deal with no end of whining and begging. But… here, come closer.

There’s a big clearance sale going on at Aeropostale right now. Oh, the link on the front page says something about “up to 70% off” and then takes you to a few items, but just click through the Sale and Clearance links to get into the truly good stuff. Shirts, pants, jeans… all of the stuff you’d just roll over and buy your kids if you truly loved them. Sheesh.

The monthly meeting of the Big Meanies Club is at my house tonight, by the way.

Even more affordable soap

You know I’ve recently become totally smitten with Soap.com, right? I mean, what’s not to like—there’s regular specials, they seem to carry just about everything, and with free two-day shipping on $25+, it’s hard to beat the convenience.

Well, here’s a way to make it even better: Take a visit to Brooklyn, today. Specifically, check out today’s Groupon for Brooklyn, which is $20 to Soap.com for just $10.

Combine that with one of their coupons and man, pretty soon they’ll be paying you to shop there.

You know you’ve been shopping at Amazon too much…

… when which of the following happens?

A) A box arrives, and you cannot for the life of you figure out what might be in it, because you’re actually waiting for several orders.
B) You open it in front of one of your children, totally forgetting that one of the things you ordered was Guitar Hero 5. For Christmas.
C) You quickly pull out the other items and begin soliloquizing about how funny it is to get pillowcases and an exercise ball in the same box! Haha!
D) Later you scurry to the computer to track your other orders, because you’re pretty sure you have a guitar coming, and you may need to create a diversion.
E) All of the above.

And how was your evening?

A very Disney Halloween

I’m not one to spend a bundle on a costume for the kids, but I do (vividly) recall that there were a couple of years when one or the other of them had their heart positively set on a particular outfit. And sometimes I’m a sucker. (Oh, you try saying no when all your five year old wants is to have “real Buzz Lightyear To Infinity And Beyond Wings Mama!”)

Anyway, if you (or your child) have your eye on a particular Disney costume, right now Disney is offering $10 off select costumes, which still makes them more than most of us are willing to pay, but there you go. Sometimes a splurge is in order.

I won’t judge you.

Browse the book, you will

Have a Star Wars nut on board? Every now and then Amazon throws one of these books into their bargain section, and little geeks-in-training all over the world get to experience massive joy in the cheap. Today they have the Star Wars: The Clone Wars Heroes pop-up book for just $7.18. Free Prime and Super Saving Shipping eligible, so you can stash a few for gifts or just grab one. Up to you.

But really, who doesn’t need a giant 3D Yoda popping out of a book at them? Exactly!

The season’s changing, after all

As the weather cools off (um, I assume it’s cooling off for some of you), most of us turn to our closets and pull out the clothes we put away last spring. No problem! Of course, if you’re pregnant now, chances are excellent that you’re standing in your closet complaining that you have nothing to wear (and that you’re not exaggerating).

This is the week to shop maternity—three great online maternity shops are offering free shipping, so you don’t even have to leave the house. (Which is good, right, because you don’t have anything to wear?) Through September 27th:

Use code MHFS09 for free shipping on your $75+ order at Motherhood Maternity;
use code DMFS09 for free shipping on your $100+ order at Destination Maternity;
or use code PFS09 for free shipping on your $150+ order at A Pea in the Pod.

There’s plenty of sale items and specials, too, so you’ll be outfitted in no time. Happy (fashionable) gestating!

There goes the day

They’re having a Woot Off today, and it’s not even Thursday. Or Wednesday. Point is, I can’t remember them ever having one on Tuesday. But apparently they are, and now how am I supposed to get anything done?

It’s hard being me, sometimes.

Shuffle off to Buffalo

I grew up in upstate NY, so I know whereof I speak when I tell you that I would need a really good reason to head to Buffalo short of wings. But today it’s okay, because I don’t actually have to go there.

See, remember how I told you that sometimes Groupon does online deals instead of local ones? Check out Buffalo’s deal for today—spend $35, get $115 worth of photobooks from Photobook America. You don’t have to shovel any snow or anything!

The holidays are coming, people. Cheap photobooks? I’m sure you can find a grandparent or two who would love to have ’em. Spend a little now, save a lot later.

Coffee and shoes, breakfast of champions

I get up earlier than everyone else in the house, mostly because I am cranky in the morning and I need some time to wake up before I have to deal with other people. And partly because it gives me plenty of time to shop for shoes before anyone says, “More shoes? Don’t you have enough shoes??” (Answer: I do not understand this phrase, “enough shoes.” The words are English, and yet the meaning totally eludes me.)

Today I’m having Organic Guatemalan Roast and a 25% off sale at Piperlime. For one day only (today, September 21st), code 25SPREE takes 25% off your order, and of course shipping is free. Works on everything but giftcards and a handful of excluded brands, and is guaranteed to make your Tuesday 25% more shoetastic.

A big box of… yeah, that

Are you feeling lucky, punk?

No need for luck on this one, really—it’s guaranteed. Just check out today’s Deal of the Day at Graveyard Mall to behold… a mystery box. What’s in it? No idea! You have the opportunity at checkout to tell them who you are and what you like, and maybe you’ll get lucky. For $19.99 and $5.99 shipping it probably feels like a gamble, but here’s the best part: You can return it for free, including free shipping both ways, if you’re not satisfied.

So, really, the risk is minimal. And maybe you’ll get something marvelous. I have to tell you, I kind of love it when they do this. Always a surprise!
