Which came first, the savings or the meal?

I can’t figure out how you frame this one. Did you first save enough money with another deal, here, that you could then pop on over to Restaurant.com and snap up a dining certificate on the cheap (use coupon code TOUCHDOWN for 80% off, making $25 worth of dining out just a cool $2 out-of-pocket right now) and have plenty left over for a sitter?

Or is it that when you can get that $25 certificate for just a couple of bucks, you then have enough money left over for a sitter and a fabulous outfit to wear for your dinner out?

This may be harder than the old chicken-and-the-egg debate. But with savings like these, I don’t think anyone is going to complain.

Pretty dresses to go with your shoes

Today 6pm.com is busy killing me dead with the deals on both Laundry and Trina Turk dresses (and other clothing), just perfect to go with all of the shoes I’ve been forced to buy there over the years.

(Yes, forced. I’m only human. I can’t be expected to hold out against these sorts of deals, people.)

If you’d rather stick to shoes, no problem—there’s Rockport, Tsubo, Nine West, and plenty of other deals on those today, as well. Listen, if I have to try to resist the siren song of 6pm, you do, too.

That one thing you forgot

I think everyone is back to school by now, right? And you did such a good job getting the kids ready. I’m sure that the discovery that you’re missing just one [insert critical item of children’s clothing here] isn’t that big of a deal at all. I mean, did you remember to feed the kids this morning? Yes? Then you’re good.

But if you need to do just a little more shopping to get that missing item, don’t worry. Children’s Place is running their Fall sale already, with items starting at just $5.99. And you have until September 12th to use code G2C2010 for 15% off any order. And over at Old Navy you have until tonight to use coupon code ONBDAY for 25% off your order (thanks, Rachel).

Of course, if your child had the audacity to grow since you did your back-to-school shopping, you have my permission to present these new items along with a couple of bricks to put on their head. It hasn’t been working for my kids, but hope springs eternal!

The eyes have it

There’s a couple of TV deals today in the Target Daily Deals, but my reaction to them is a resounding “meh.” You just know big electronics deals are coming up in the next few months as we get closer to the holidays, so whatever. No, it’s the other deals that intrigue me today—a bed set, a decent deal on a nursing bra, and then some JK Jemma Kidd eye makeup.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t wear makeup very often. So I’m kind of reluctant to spend a lot. But several of my friends have raved to me about the Jemma Kidd stuff and every now and then I look at it at the store and think, “Hmm. But what if I hate it?” You know what, for $5 shipped I can try out the mascara and liquid eyeliner and if I hate it, I don’t care.

Daily deals, you complete me. And possibly my eyes.

Amazon, diapers and you

This morning I got up to a very large cup of coffee, and email from a whole bunch of you about Amazon Mom. It’s sort of like Christmas!

Here’s the deal: Tell Amazon you’re a caretaker for a little kid, get 3 free months of Prime. But it gets even better, because for every $25+ order you place in the Baby store (diapers, anyone?), you’ll get another free month of Prime—up to an entire year for free. And if you’ve paid for Prime? You’ll get a pro-rated refund.

Even better, as an Amazon Mom you’ll always get 30% off diapers and wipes, rather than the regular 15% you normally get with Subscribe & Save.

Bear in mind that if you’d like to get the free Prime but aren’t going to be ordering from the Baby store (i.e., you’re a mom like me, who doesn’t have kids in diapers anymore), and therefore will only be qualifying for three months, that you will want to wait to sign up if you want your three months of Prime to cover you for the holidays. Personally, I’ll be waiting until next month. But if you’ll be placing diaper/wipes orders to extend your membership, have at it.

If that doesn’t excite you a little bit on a drab Wednesday morning, it’s like I hardly know you. (Now: who’s going to lend me their baby so I can get in on this…?)

Sew away, sew away, sew away

As if the prices at Fabric.com weren’t already low enough, now they’re celebrating National Sewing Month. (Did you know it was National Sewing Month? I didn’t. And there doesn’t appear to be a National I Can Reattach That Button Eventually, Probably Month.) So here’s the deal: For the next week, the more you spend, the more you save.

Spend $40+, take 15% off with code SEW1510.
Spend $100+, take 20% off with code SEW2010.
Spend $150+, take 25% off with code SEW2510.

That’s on top of their everyday deals and automatic free shipping on $35+. You could totally… ummm… sew some stuff. I assume. I mean, I would. If I knew how to sew. (Psssst—you know they have yarn and other crafty things, too, right? Because they totally do.)

We love you Threadless, oh yes we do

How much do I love a Threadless sale? So much. There is no cooler way to do t-shirts, so don’t even try to convince me that there is, because I will not believe you.

So, rejoice: For the next 29 hours or so, they’ve got a slew of shirts for just $9 each, and that includes their new “girly” styles of shirts (that actually fit girls who are, you know, shaped like girls). I’d say more, but I have to go shop.

The last day to save

(Until the next sale, anyway!)

Did you check out the Labor Day Sizzling Deals at Oneida this weekend? No? What are you waiting for—it all ends tonight! (Okay, I have no idea why that link is going to just four “sizzling deals.” If you click on “Labor Day Sizzling Deals” in the left sidebar, there, it’ll take you to four pages of deals rather than just those four.)

So. There’s that stuff—deeply discounted until tonight, only—and then there’s the other goodie: For the stuff that’s not on sale, use coupon code LBR30 for 30% off. This is a great opportunity to round out your silverware or get that serving piece you’ve been eyeing. But only through the end of the day.

No pressure. Just, you know, hurry up already.

Not that kind of gross

I’m pretty sure I learned what a “gross” was by reading the Oriental Trading Company catalog. Really, who else consistently offers you a dozen dozen of the things all kids look at and go “ooooooh!”? OTC has long been synonymous with “party supplies” and “large quantities of little toys.”

And now you have an entire week to stock up for every class party, Halloween bash, and whatever else you’re planning, all in one fell swoop. Just shop away, then use code WCE9771 to take $10 off your $75+ order, plus get free shipping. I realize that it can be pretty difficult to spend that much money there at once, but if you’re splitting an order with a friend (or putting together a sizable party), this could be the savings you were looking for.

Back to school, back to portable snacks

There are certain things I just don’t buy when I don’t have to pack a couple of lunchboxes every day, and I suspect many of you can relate. (See also: Milk boxes, excitement over. Heh.) And this tends to be where I find things on Amazon in bulk that I don’t buy at my local grocery store because they cost too much. (And until we get a local Costco, that’s my plan and I’m sticking to it.)

One of the grocery specials this month at Amazon is a deal on R.W. Knudsen beverages, which includes an assortment of organic juice boxes. That means something like these mixed berry boxes come out to under a quarter apiece after coupon code KNUDS343 and buying via Subscribe & Save for another 15% off and free shipping. Now, those are the little boxes (around 4 ounces), so no good for my big kids, but perfect for little ones.

There’s lots of other options, too. For my crew I may have to break down and get some mandarin lime spritzers to surprise them with in their lunches now and then. (Did you know that if you’re a Very Mean Mother, your kids will come to believe that flavored seltzer is soda? It’s true!)
