Expand your craft stash
You all know I am Not Crafty, meaning that if I sew a button back on to something without hurting myself, I consider it a good day. But I know many of you are quilters, knitters, and otherwise Crafty People, so you may want to hop on over to Fabric.com clearance in the next few days. through June 28th, you can take an additional 30% off their already slashed prices with coupon code CLEAR622!
I will just be over here admiring your many talents, but you go have a good time.
Break up your week with doorbusters
Ah, Wednesday. The cruelest day of the week!
Know what would make it better? This week’s doorbusters at Kohls, because they include some of the lowest prices of the season and I can think of no better way to chase away the Wednesday blahs.
Get free shipping on $75+ with code SEND2ME. Kohls card holders can get 15% off with code LOWEST4U and non-card-holders can get an additional 10% off with code new6865. The icing on the cake—it’s Kohls Cash time, so you’ll also earn $10 back for every $50 you spend!
Baseball, apple pie, and jellybeans
Why yes, I will seize any excuse to buy candy, even if it’s something as important as the 4th of July. (God bless America! Pass the sugar!) For the new few days at Jelly Belly, you can get 4 bags of Belly Flops for $17.76 (get it, 1776? for the 4th?). Just use coupon code FREEDOM.
Belly Flops are, of course, regular Jelly Belly beans that didn’t quite measure up to their regular quality standards. They’re usually shaped a little funny, but they taste just fine. And really, do you care about the shape of the candy you’re going to pop into your mouth?
Save half, or get twice as much
Whoops, the day’s already half-gone, so I apologize for not getting around to posting this sooner. It turns out that today (Tuesday, June 22nd) everything is half off over at Lee Jeans, just because. Free shipping on $65+, too, so if you decide to really clean up, you could be looking at everything delivered to your door for free.
They have all kinds of clothes, you know. Not just jeans. And I don’t know about you, but I’m certainly not above half off….
Oink oink!
Many thanks to Ellen for sending this one along—you can always check out the hilarious explanation on the ThinkGeek blog for how this came about, but the bottom line is savings for you.
Through June 30th, 2010, use code PORKBOARD to take $10 off your $40+ purchase at ThinkGeek. And be sure to thank the National Pork Board for being so… porky… and playing their part in your discount.
Another shot at penguins
I know I’ve posted this one a couple of times before, but if you missed it, or only just now decided that yes, you need an elite penguin force in the palm of your hands, here you go: Amazon currently has Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force Collector’s Edition for the Nintendo DS available for just $10!
Get it for a rainy day this summer. Get it for the gift closet. Get it because a whole bunch of suckers paid $35 for it last year, and revenge is sweet. I don’t care why you get it, only that you get the great deal you deserve.
The Want Not Review: Carnival Cruises
At long last I’m ready to tell you all about our big trip—we were on a Carnival Cruise for a week, seeing the western Caribbean. (Specifically: We were on the Carnival Valor.)
Now, if you had asked me prior to this trip if I would ever consider going on a cruise, I probably would’ve said no. For one thing, I’m prone to motion sickness. For another, I was sure that such a vacation must be incredibly expensive. It turns out that I may have been somewhat misinformed (or at the very least, overly neurotic), and so on these and other points I thought it was worth taking some time to share our experience.
I also want to thank Patricia once again for sharing her informative posts on how to pack for a cruise and how to save money on board. I’ll be touching on some points she shared, too.
In the spirit of full disclosure, let’s make the following clear:
1) I didn’t pay for this trip. My father did, because he’s awesome.
2) Carnival has not asked for, paid for, or is in any way aware of what I’m going to say about them.
3) Once I knew about the trip, I did strike a deal with Patricia; she paid for my internet access while I was on the ship, in return for linking to her when discussing travel agents and full disclosure of our arrangement. (While Patricia didn’t book our trip, I have known her for years and am familiar with her work and have no qualms about recommending her.)
With that said, let’s move on to details! read more…
Lounge in style
Do you think I can talk my husband into the patio orbit lounger that’s in today’s Target Daily Deals? It not only allows you and your sweetie to lounge side by side, it’s got a little table for your drinks and an umbrella to keep the sun off of you. It’s adorable. And I’m not even going to think about how my children would likely turn it into tag home base, or whatever.
It’s $300 at 40% off, which is still a hefty chunk of change, but not too bad for everything you get. Plus, coupon code MT9ZC7RW may still be working for 10% off, which would take it down to just $270 shipped.
I can almost taste the poolside iced tea, just looking at it.
Ignore the terrible commercials
Okay, I am going to reserve comment on the terrible commercials that Charmin seems to always be running on TV, except to say this: I do not want to think about cartoon bears with TP stuck on their rear ends, Charmin. Seriously.
Their weirdo marketing aside, I can appreciate that they make a decent product. Ahem. Anyway, right now Amazon has a 4-pack of nine ultra-soft rolls available for just $16.99 shipped when you buy via Subscribe & Save. That’s well under $.50/roll, which is cheaper than the stuff that will make you wish you’d spent a little more (if you know what I mean, and I think you do).
Even better, don’t forget to check your grocery coupons—I had one in there for another quarter off a Charmin product, and every little bit helps, right? (Refresh the page if you don’t see the coupon you want; they change, sometimes.)
Now, quit your giggling. We can be mature adults about this toilet paper thing. Maybe.
It all starts with good shoes
It’s been days since I insisted you go look at something at 6pm.com, right? We’re overdue? Of course we are.
For my money, today’s best deal is up to 65% off New Balance, with kids’ shoes starting at around $11. There are plenty of great adult offerings in the $20-$30 range, too. Not bad for a killer pair of sneakers.
Related: My local TJ Maxx no longer carries kids’ shoes, which on the one hand is a travesty. On the other hand, it gives me that many more excuses to order from 6pm (oh, I need these for the kids, so while I’m already paying shipping, I may as well get a pair for me). Heh.
