Saturday deals

Goood morning! It’s raining again. Thank goodness—those twelve inches we got last week just left me thirsty for more. Ahem.

Today is Free Museum Day! This is your chance to get a little bit of culture on the cheap.

Hey, remember the Amazon deal on maple syrup, where everything sold out just about immediately? It’s baaaaaack! Items have been restocked, and between 35% off coupon BASCOM35 and the 15% off you’ll get with Subscribe & Save, you’re looking at some uber-cheap genuine maple syrup. I’m stocking up (particularly as I’ve finally found the gluten-free pancake recipe I love).

Also at Amazon, today’s Gold Box Deal is the Sirius Stiletto 2 radio for just $100 shipped. Apparently this is a very cool item if you do the satellite radio thing; I don’t, but my husband began salivating when this unit came out, so that probably means something. Park it in your house or car for use like a regular satellite receiver, or take it on the go like your favorite MP3 player. Pretty nifty.

$15 Pro-Keds are back at 6pm.com this weekend! Cute, cute, cute.

The weekend sale is on at Kohls, with standard $.99 shipping per item. Kohls card holders can use coupon code BEST4MVC15 for another 15% off and THISIS4FREE for free shipping. No Kohls card? Use NEW2757 for an additional 10% off, anyway.

I wouldn’t say this is something anyone should go out and buy on a whim, but if you’ve been pricing one of these out, today may be your day: Today (September 26th, 2009) only, get $100 off the Margaritaville Explorer Cordless Frozen Concoction Maker. It’s normally $300, but today if you use coupon code CHILLIN100 it comes down to $200. (No, I’m not buying one. Yes, I will totally come over and admire yours if you do.)

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go get started on that ark….

Friday Sale, it’s all for you

I got up at 5:00 for this week’s Amazon Friday Sale, so it’d better be good. (I’m lying. I got up at 5:00 for the dog. And she’s cute and all, but she has yet to save me any money. Sooooo….)

And… hey, does anyone else notice that the Friday Sale seems to be missing several categories? And, um, anything good…? Yeesh. I mean, there’s some good deals on Bond movies on Blu-ray in the Gold Box, but other than that, unless you want some tools, meh.

I guess I’m going to have to get my bargain fix elsewhere, today.

The daily deals at 6pm.com feature Two Lips, Vaneli, and DC. Plus there’s still some good weekly deal stuff (hello, Nine West!).

I wouldn’t recommend the (cheap) knife set featured in today’s Target Daily Deals, but I’m kind of loving those Rocket Dog shoes. And that Chinese Laundry tote is adorable.

You’ve got just a few days left to shop the Fall Sale at Banana Republic, and through Saturday you can use coupon code BRSAVE20 to save $20 on your $75+ order. Alternatively, shop Old Navy and use code ONPLUS15 for 15% off and free shipping with your $75+ order.

Sorry for the slim pickings. I totally would’ve made the dog wait if I’d had any idea what a lackluster deal day it was going to be….

I’m in excellent company

So you know how I’ve got all of these cool new Frigidaire appliances as part of their campaign to help moms find more “me time?” Today it was announced that Jennifer Garner is teaming up with Frigidaire to help support Save The Children.

To read more about what they’re hoping you’ll do (give an hour towards kids in need before we reset the clocks on November 1st), check out this post at Mom Central. And then go visit Frigidaire.com to pledge one hour of your time towards children in need, and be entered for a chance to win a brand new professional double oven.

Pretty great, right? Gosh, it’s a good thing I have all these shiny new appliances. Otherwise I might feel a little drab next to Jennifer Garner….

Here’s another Friends/Family bandwagon

I saw on Facebook this morning that Lands’ End is having their Family and Friends event right now, too. Through Monday, September 28th, 2009, use code LESAVE25 and PIN 6325 to get free shipping and save 25%! It says “free shipping on nearly everything,” so I’m guessing if you buy something heavy there may be a shipping surcharge. Should work fine on clothes and such, though.

Lands’ End recently booted most of their affiliates from the program so that they could pursue an “alternate marketing strategy,” whatever that means, but despite them having dumped me (*sniffle*) I am just having a hard time holding a grudge. What can I say? I like their stuff. And with coupons like these, I’m putty in their hands.

That’s the way, uh huh uh huh, she likes it

Like most tweens attending public school in our fine country, my daughter loves absolutely everything that comes from Justice for Girls. We, uh, don’t always see eye-to-eye on whether or not all of the things they offer are appropriate for young ladies (ahem), but I do find that some of their stuff is cute and it always makes for excellent bargaining chips. (Also—did I mention this before?—they’re one of the only places I’ve found which carries training bras in beige, which is useful if your daughter wears a white uniform shirt. Just saying.)

Anyway, they’ve got a new coupon available; use code 776 for 40% off your entire order, through September 29th, 2009. That brings their prices down to affordability, and makes it a lot easier for you to be the Cool Mom.

It just sounds fancy

Do you know what a Package Shark is? I didn’t, but it certainly does sound cool. I immediately had visions of dropping a box into the bathtub and having a shark rip it to shreds for me, rather than me having to fight with the packing tape.

Anyway, a real Package Shark is the Graveyard Mall Deal of the Day, and it’s a little doohickey that slices right through the tape on your boxes, or that horrible plastic casing everything seems to come in these days. Pretty snazzy. And while I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s worth $3.49, itself, you also get a pair of power scissors with it—another item that I’ve always sort of wanted but never really knew if it was worth it.

Better still, buy two and use coupon code sharkship and they’ll ship it all for free! That’s two pairs of power scissors, plus two Package Sharks, for just under $7 to your door. I’m thinking power scissors might make a good teacher gift…?

We’re all friends, and quasi-family

One thing I love about the idea of “there’s all kinds of families” is that we seem much freer, these days, to dub folks we care about as members of our family. And I like that because it makes me feel warm and fuzzy, but I particularly like that because when the Friends & Family sales roll around, we’re all family! Let’s all catch the savings!

(Sometimes it really doesn’t take much to make me happy….)

Through September 27th, 2009, join the family at Footlocker and save 30% on your purchase; just use coupon code IPFLFF99 at checkout. It works on stuff already on sale, even, so you know they’re playing my song.

Welcome to the family! Now go do the dishes, would you? I’m not running a hotel here, people.

I see what they did there

I always chuckle when a big sale on health and beauty items is called a “beauty blowout.” Get it? Like when you get your hair blown out…?

Okay, maybe it’s just me.

Nonetheless, the annual Beauty Blowout at Drugstore.com (hee!) has just a couple of days left, and it just might be your ticket to big savings on products you were going to buy, anyway. Not that you need them—you’re plenty pretty, already.

Make money on your meds

Did you know that most pharmacies offer some sort of incentive to transfer your prescription to them from another store? They do! This is not my favorite way to make money, because I happen to like the pharmacy I use (and like that they know my family, etc.), but if you were planning to switch anyway or didn’t really care, it’s easy cash.

Make up to $50 at Rite Aid with a printable coupon (click the “get coupons now” link on that page). Most other pharmacies put coupons in the Sunday paper insert, but here’s another tip: Most of them will match a competitor’s coupon, too. Try printing the Rite Aid coupon and taking it the pharmacy of your choice and asking if they’ll match it—they probably will.

Ship it to me (free)

Today and tomorrow (September 23rd and 24th), get free shipping at Eddie Bauer with coupon code FREESEPT. There’s still that weird $3 handling fee they’re so fond of, but at least the shipping fee itself will zero out.

While I’m a fan of EB’s clothes, I’m a fool for their gadgets section. I mean, who doesn’t need a flashlight with a built-in world clock? Okay, maybe that’s a poor example. Check out those head lamps that are $10 with any purchase. As far as my kids are concerned, that’s pretty much the reason to go camping, right there, so that you’ll have an excuse to wear your head lamp.

(Hey, I never said we were normal.)
