Almost forgot the dailies
Hey, aren’t there still lots of daily deals going on? I think there are. I just need to come up from air amongst all these cookies I’m baking to remember to check them. (Whoops. Sorry! Hey, those cookies aren’t going to bake themselves….)
Today’s Amazon Gold Box Deal is the complete Stargate SG-1 series for $99.99 (70% off). Great gift for your favorite sci-fi geek!
The St. Nick’s Pick at Lands’ End today is their “terrain jane,” a shoe that looks an awful lot like my favorite pair of Skechers. They look comfy as all get out. (And with the special savings and free shipping, well, that’s easy math.)
Drugstore.com has three great daily deals available; go for the talking pedometer if you’re all grown up and stuff, but personally I’m digging the remote control ant. Heh.
Don’t forget that Kohls is doing the 25 days of Christmas, too—today’s promotional items are kids’ cameras and combo hurricane lamp/flashlights. Shipping is currently free on $75+ orders, or Kohls card holders can use MVC4816 to ship any order for free, and today only use NEW15DEC for an additional 15% off, too. (No Kohls card? Use HOLIDAY2473 for 10% off, anyway!)
And here’s my favorite one for today—for one day only (that’s today, December 15th, 2008), get Planet Earth in Blu-ray for $34.99 with free shipping from the Discovery Store. We love Planet Earth; I imagine it would be amazing in Blu-ray, on a huge screen.
Okay, back to baking cookies for a bit. Because heaven knows we haven’t had enough sugar lately. (These are for gifts. I swear. Stop looking at me like that.)
Some sugar to go with your toys
Okay, so, you’ve got every toy the kids could possibly want, by now. Right? But now you might need:
1) stocking stuffers
2) energy to put the toys together
or
3) a reward for yourself for being such a good shopper.
If any of those things are true, check out the Haribo gummy candies at Amazon—they’re marked down, and through the end of the month you can take another 25% off with coupon code BEARGUMM.
Too bad my kids have braces and can’t have gummy candy. I’ll have to eat it all myself. You know, purely out of a sense of maternal duty.
On Monday, they do the work for me
Hey, today I don’t even have to look very hard for the toy deals on Amazon—because they’ve thoughtfully put them in the Markdown Monday section for easy access! That was awfully nice of them!
(Uh oh. Extra exclamation points—someone’s had an extra cup of coffee this morning….)
As always, check around to make sure the price really is a good one, but I see several great deals. This Playskool Adventure Squad helmet set looks like a little car junkie’s dream come true, especially at 53% off. And the Mega Bloks Smart Build Piano has been marked down for a while, but not to 65% off like it is now!
For a little bit older kid, you can’t go wrong with the LeapFrog Globe—now the lowest I’ve ever seen it at $44.99 (55% off)—or for your much older kid and Star Wars fanatic, check out LEGO General Grievous for $44.99 (half off).
I won’t list ’em all; there’s a ton of great markdowns on LEGO sets and preschool toys and everything inbetween, too. It almost makes me love Mondays.
Almost.
Old Navy, I wish I could quit you
It’s around this time of year that I keep meaning to stop ordering stuff online—the mail service is starting to slow down, and we generally go out of town for the holidays, and I don’t want a box sitting on the steps of our empty home, joyfully calling out to passersby “Rob this house! No one’s home!”
But I dunno, man… I placed an order at Old Navy last week and it came in three days. And then, of course, they came out with coupons (afterward) and now I’m sulking. Do I best indulge my sulk by ordering more stuff (cheaper now), or by refusing to shop there again? I can’t decide.
Hopefully you don’t have such problems. If you don’t, today and tomorrow (through December 16th, 2008) you can shop Old Navy and use coupon code JOY for free shipping on any order, plus stack ONHOLIDAY for 10% off your $75+ order.
Their wide-legged yoga pants complete me. I can’t help it.
Smell that? Cinnamon rolls!
We’ve entered that magical time when I need to start actively apologizing to my family for all the time I spend online, scoping out the Amazon deals. There are cinnamon rolls in the oven right now—I suspect they’ll forgive me.
This morning’s finds:
The Settlers of Catan is down to $19.99 (42% off), and this is one of those hardly-ever-goes-on-sale sorts of things. This is also a critically acclaimed game (for ages 10+) I keep hearing people rave about.
Matchbox Mega Rig Space Shuttle is another one where the price has been bouncing all around. This morning it’s $29.99; only 33% off, but a highly-rated set.
ThinkFun Zingo is down to $7.99 (50% off).
Hey, when Travel Scrabble is just $4.99, you’re in stocking-stuffer territory. Just sayin’.
U-Dance (looks like a Dance Dance Revolution type game) is down to just $22.99 (69% off). Thanks for the heads up, Stephanie!
Partini is down $9.99 (67% off), and would be perfect for those holiday parties….
Cranium Family Edition is just $8.99 (half off).
Finding all of the December toy deals at Amazon is something of a sickness, I know. But I’m going to get better very soon. Honest. Because eventually, it’ll be January…..
Saturday deals (heavy on the toys)
Goooood morning! Is it January yet? No? I guess I’ll have to keep shopping, then.
Today it’s the Shoes.com Saturday Sale, with up to 50% off select styles. Combine the deals with a code for the sweetest deal: Use HOLIDAY08 for 15% off any order, or HOLIDAY50 for $50 off $200+.
There’s free shipping on thousands of great gifts at Target right now, and still plenty of time to ship before the holidays.
Today’s Gold Box Deal at Amazon is a Sonicare Elite toothbrush for $79.99 (43% off). Also, spend $139+ on qualifying products and receive $40 off a future Amazon purchase (see the site for details).
Toy prices continue to go up and down and all around at Amazon, too—if you were on the fence about the Playskool Ball-Tivity Center, it’s down to just $6.99. (If you bought it at a higher price, well, I guess now is when we all complain about the lack of price adjustments….) Other deals I spotted this morning:
LEGO Police Command Center for $27.89 (38% off)
Melissa and Doug Easel is down to $25.99 (57% off)
Melissa and Doug Solid Wood Dollhouse is down to $47.99 (70% off!!)
Nerf Dart Tag Hyperfire for $19.99 (half off)
Fisher Price Smart Cycle for $59.99 (45% off)
Tonka Scoot N Scoop Ride On for $9.99 (67% off)
MegaBloks King Arthur Battle Action Castle for $23.99 (70% off)
LeapFrog Explorer Smart Globe for $49.99 (50% off) (Santa brought this last year—it’s a very cool toy)
Cosmic Catch is down to $7.99 (68% off)
Wooo. I feel like I need to take a break after combing Amazon. Back in a bit with some more….
Okay, here’s a few more things to check out (that aren’t toys): Today’s St. Nick’s Pick at Lands’ End is extreme squall jackets for 35% off. Free shipping on anything you buy there through that link, too.
Overstock is liquidating select electronics this weekend; as always, check the prices (some are… ummm… more liquidatey than others) (yes, that’s the technical term), but there are some deals to be had.
Sleestak not included
Personally, I would rather stick a fork directly into my eyeball than buy my children a gigantic toy animal, and I’d rather stick one fork in my eyeball and another one in my eardrum than buy them a gigantic toy animal that makes “realistic” noises, but if you’ve always wanted your kid to have his own baby dinosaur, Playskool’s Kota is currently marked down to $99.99 at Amazon. Which is apparently a great price.
Hopefully you’re out of forks.
Yes, Virginia, there is a Friday Sale
In the midst of all the other Amazon markdowns, their continuation of the Friday Sale is either silly or comforting—I can’t decide which. No matter. Let’s see if there’s anything good today.
All I want for Christmas is these microfleece pjs. Wait, maybe these ones. Heck, at 55% off, maybe Santa will spring for two pairs.
Woolrich sherpa slippers for him for $14.89? I’m on it.
If you’ve been wanting to switch your Christmas lights to LEDs, this may be the deal for you: Get a 50-light indoor/outdoor string for just $15.99, but this item qualifies for the 4-for-3 promotion, so you could get four of ’em for under $50. They have a three-year warranty, too.
These steak knives don’t have any reviews yet, but I have to say that for $29.99 I’m tempted. I may as well let the kids play with our current steak knives, as dull as they are. Then again, I’m extremely intrigued by this Komachi knife set, so I may not be the best judge. (Look at that thing, though. That is cool-looking.)
How about a fancy wine-opening set? $14.99 and eligible for the 4-for-3. You could knock out a few gifts that way, easily.
‘Tis the season for cheap flannel sheets! Or—if you prefer—cheap fleece sheets!
For the serious barbecuer, you’ll want a serious barbecuing belt. (I sort of love that, actually.)
Don’t forget those Numi tea sets for awesome, wow-’em hostess and teachers’ gifts. They’re currently $17, but buy two and take $10 off with code NUMITEAC, so they’re basically $12 each. Or pair it with a box of Ghirardelli chocolates and save another 20%.
As always, don’t forget to check out the Friday Five, your chance to pick up five MP3 albums for just $5 apiece, for one day only.
Today’s Gold Box deal is an Angel boxed DVD set (seasons 1-5) for $50.99. Mmmmmm… David Boreanaz….
And last (but certainly not least)… today’s holiday deal at Endless is a sweet deal on some women’s Steve Madden boots.
Did someone say toy deals?
Maybe you went to bed last night with visions of sugar plums dancing in your heads, but this is the time of year when I dream of Amazon markdowns. Whether I want to or not. No, really. I’m sort of looking forward to January, is all I’m saying.
A few toy markdowns to start off your morning:
Matchbox Haunted House Adventure Set for $12.99 (63% off)
LeapFrog Crammer for $23.99 (60% off)
Yahtzee Free for All for $6.99 (63% off)
Oh The Places You’ll Go! board game for $5.99 (70% off—and this would be ideal to put away for someone who’s graduating in the Spring)
Phase 10 Touch Screen Game for $5.99 (67% off)
Electronic Catch Phrase game for $7.99 (68% off)
Oh, man. I just realized I have to do the Friday Sale, too. Okay, back with that in a bit. Gotta go grab a coffee IV, first.
Lights, camera (deals), action
One late-night super deal for you: Amazon currently has the Fisher Price Kid-Tough Digital Cameras for just $28.99 with free shipping.
Great reviews, and perfect for little ones who aren’t ready for a “real” camera. (These are real cameras, by the way. But they’re also real cameras that can be dropped, thrown, etc., without breaking.)
