When my kids were in car seats. . .

… there were never deals like this, I tell you. You parents today have it so easy. Hmph.

Nevertheless, check out this madness: Right now at Target, get the Britax Marathon convertible car seat for $42.99 shipped. That is nuts. (Edited to add: Oh, look—they also have Cowmooflage for $60. Look, who knows if these orders will ship… but it’s worth a try….)

Go, go, go! (Thanks, pretty Corey!)

Don’t forget to Wiicessorize

Just a quickie for those who either already own/love the Wii, or who have picked one up for the holidays:

First of all: Yes, Virginia, Amazon still has Wii consoles in stock.

But if you’ve already got the console, don’t forget that you may want extra Wiimotes. (I’d recommend getting at least one extra, for two-player games.)

Also, today’s video game Deal of the Day is the DreamGEAR Wii Quad Dock, which comes with 4 rechargeable battery packs and the ability to charge up to four Wiimotes all at the same time.

There’s nothing sadder than dead batteries in your Wiimote combined with children with healthy lungs. Don’t let such a tragedy happen to you.

Deals on delicates

Holy cow—it looks like everything is currently half-off at Figleaves, which means now is the time to pick up your Spanx and other fancy underthings.

This has the added benefit of not having to walk through Target with a package in your hand that you forget is there while you browse the sweatshirts, and then your son looks at it and very loudly says, “Mom? Mom! What does it mean that it ‘improves your bottom line’?”

Trust me.

Saturday deals

Good morning! You know, I’d been meaning to mention to y’all ever since the steel cut oats deal that several of you had mentioned cooking them overnight in the crockpot, so I tried that. And they turned into glop. Yuck. I’m back to cooking them on the stove, but I do wonder if anyone knows what I did wrong.

In the meantime, how about some tips for your weekend shopping? That I know how to do.

Amazingly, Wiis are in stock at Amazon again. I know that everyone teased me about waiting to get one from Amazon, but I rather enjoy not having to pay sales tax. (Sorry, residents of New York….)

All weekend long, take 70% off your Restaurant.com order with coupon code DESSERT. That’s $25 of dining for just $3!

Overstock’s got two different coupons available this weekend; you can take $10 off of $200+ or take $15 off of $300+ though those there links.

Get free shipping all weekend at Lands’ End with code HOLIDAY and PIN 5684. Don’t forget to check the Overstocks for the best deals!

Today (November 15th, 2008) only, everyone can use coupon code NOV15PASS for an additional 15% off at Kohls, regardless of whether you have a Kohls charge card or not! Shipping is free for everyone with orders of $50+, or card holders can use code MVC1860 today for free shipping on any size order.

I’ll be back a little bit later today with a chance for you to win something pretty, promise!

Oh, Friday

I had high hopes for Friday (I always do). But my day started out with an exploding backpack and a very angry child (who was just fine with three months of papers in said pack, geez), and… well, I’m hoping that’s the low point of the day. Please.

Hopefully your day started out better, and if it didn’t, well, there’s always the Amazon Friday Sale to cheer us up, right?

Why is this hat and glove set listed in shoes? I have no idea, but it’s very, very cute.

One of the reviewers on these LED lawn stakes says she uses them indoors, as backlighting in her plants. Which I thought was pretty cool.

Oh, look. It’s a cat toilet. (And only $245! Buy two, they’re small!) (Seriously now, if you buy this for your cat, I’m concerned. Please step away from the cat toilet.)

This Pfaltzgraff Winterberry tray is marked down to $18.99 and is eligible for the 4-for-3 promotion; not a bad deal if you need teacher or other thank-you gifts (we sometimes make cookies or bread and give them on a nice plate or tray, and we look all fancy).

For those of you who missed out on the Gevalia convection oven deal, today there’s a highly-rated Sanyo convection oven down to $69.99, which is about the lowest I’ve seen it.

PG Tips! And more PG Tips! The best tea ever! (I’m drinking some right now, no lie.) [Neither should be confused with this tea, whose description scares me. (I’m pretty sure my libido has never been awakened by tea. Just sayin’.)]

This Numi flowering tea gift set is one of my very favorite gifts to give, and right now it’s $20, but if you buy two you can take $10 off (making them just $15 each) with coupon code NUMITEAC.

If you’re in the market for this wet/dry Panasonic razor, it’s down to $78ish, which is the lowest I’ve seen it.

And don’t forget to check out the Friday Five—5 great MP3 albums for just $5 each—and the 4-Day Baby Super Sale, which I will remind you is sort of a rip-off in that they’re not selling actual babies, but does have some good deals.

Here’s to a happy weekend, free of grumpy children!

Spin me right round, baby right round

Whoops! I don’t know how I missed this one, but apparently right now at Second Spin they’re offering free shipping on all orders with coupon code FSN7. But it’s only good through midnight tonight, and I’m sorry I didn’t post it earlier.

I’ve gotten a number of used CDs from Second Spin and have been very happy with them, and they offer used DVDs and games, as well. They’re a great way to save a few bucks if you don’t need something brand spankin’ new. (Translation: I would’ve give these as gifts to someone outside of the family, but I have no problem giving them to my kids. Then again, I’m sort of a meanie.)

For everyone who went Wii-happy today. . .

… you might be interested to know that Amazon is also offering the classic controller (looks like the old-style video controller, vs. the wiimote) for $16.96 today. That’s only 15% off, but it’s never on sale, so that’s something.

Those will less coordination and/or little hands may find the classic controller easier to manage for some games. Or maybe my children are just sore losers who hope that declaring the wiimote is “too hard” will cause me to throw a game.

As if.

Coldwater Creek, you crazy place

I have a confession to make. When I moved to Georgia, for the first time I saw a brick-and-mortar Coldwater Creek store. And I was thrilled, because I shop them only quite often and love their stuff.

And then I went in there.

And I’m pretty sure I was the only person in the entire store under the age of 70.

But! I’d shopped them online! I knew they had some really great staples, and good bargains, and… well, the store had none of those things. No bargains. Nothing I would consider wearing. Or giving as a gift. Or even admit to liking. It was very strange.

I don’t know why the online Coldwater Creek is so much cooler than my local store. And I’m also not sure how the local store stays in business, given that they seem to never have any sales. But that’s all fine. Confusing, but fine. I’ll continue shopping them online, scooping up great bargains in their outlet, and using things like coupon code AFL9012 for $30 off my $100+ purchase and free shipping.

But I have to tell you: The local store still creeps me out a little.

Teach ’em graffiti while they’re young

I don’t really understand the kiddie fascination with Doodle Bears, but I guess there’s something really alluring about being allowed—nay, encouraged—to draw on your toys.

The price of those things has always kept me far, far away… and now my kids are too old for them. But check it out: Right now at eToys, they have four different Doodle Bearsicon available for just $4.99 each! The “airbrush” models have free shipping, too.

This is a great gift closet toy, and an even better donation toy. And five bucks is pretty hard to beat. Especially when you’re buying it for someone else’s house and don’t have to worry about those markers being used on your walls….

Friends and Family time at Illuminations

Through November 17th, 2008, take an extra 25% off your purchase at Illuminations just because they like you. Also because you’re going to use coupon code 999201405.

Right now they’re still running a buy 2, get 1 free special on jarred candles and twin lights. Combine that with the coupon and you could knock out a couple of gifts, easily.

Because nothing says “Your house smells” like a nice candle. Happy holidays!
