For boy scouts, not disgruntled voters

Okay, I feel a little funny mentioning this deal the day after the election, but I trust y’all to play nice….

Swiss Army knives can be a great stocking stuffer for scouts (and others), and if you have multiple folks to buy for, this deal may be for you.

Right now Amazon is running a promotion on Swiss Army items—buy $50+ worth, and you’ll save $10 instantly at checkout (no coupon needed). Most of these items are already marked way down, but the real savings are if you’re buying multipacks.

For example, this three-pack is already marked down to just $23.53, and this two-pack is just $15.43. Or this Trekker and classic knife combo is $21.99. Mix and match to get up to $50 and you could be saving big bucks.

But then you’ll also have a lot of knives. So, um, be careful.

Consider this a cuteness emergency

I don’t usually like to post the same store/deal two days in a row—except when it’s Amazon, because Amazon sells absolutely everything and there are always new deals—but I hope this one time you’ll indulge me. Because it’s an emergency. A cuteness emergency.

So, say you’ve got a bunch of little girls kids. They’re your daughters and sons, or nieces and nephews, or maybe your child has a birthday during the holiday season and you’re thinking about how to squeeze a birthday party in. Whatever. In any of these situations, I dare you to look at this Santa apron and matching hat set at Kohls and say, “Meh, that’s not so cute. And $6.80 is kind of expensive.”

Because it is achingly adorable and $6.80 for the set is a steal.

The $.99 per item shipping has ended, as have some of the other codes, but try these: Kohls card holders get free shipping with MVC7935 and save 15% with NOV15EXTRA; those without a Kohls card can save an extra 10% with HOLIDAY4770. Right now, orders of $75+ ship for free.

I am almost forgiving the stores for whipping out the Christmas stuff right after Halloween, for this. Almost.

Only for the very best boys and girls

I know that at my house you’d have to have been extra super special good to get a gift of this magnitude—marked down though it may be—but even a curmudgeon such as myself has to admit that it’s really, really cool.

Yes, the Wild Planet Spy Video Car has hit an all-time low at Amazon; it’s currently just $58.76 with free shipping.

Which is still an awful lot of money, I know.

On the other hand, it’s a spy car with night vision. See the dilemma? I knew you would.

Love thy crockpot

Anyone who reads me regularly on some of my other blogs knows that I am a fool for my crockpot for lots of reasons. It makes for cheap and easy cooking, and I am definitely cheap and easy. (Wait. That didn’t come out right….)

Today I made a batch of black beans to freeze, and with God as my witness, I will never buy canned beans again.

And it was cheap. And easy.

(Like me.) (Kidding!) (But not kidding about the crockpot thing.)

More Crayola deals

I love love love art supplies for the kids—it keeps them busy for a looooong time, and it feels educational and virtuous. And I am all about busy children and happy moms.

Right now at Toys ‘R’ Us, there’s a whole bunch of eligible Crayola productsicon which are not only buy 1/get 1 free, they have free shipping!

Hmmmm…. Christmas, Easter, travel to Grandma’s house, days ending in “y”… I can see lots of great occasions for this stuff. (And don’t forget birthday parties, too!)

Zoom zoom!

Have you been checking out Graveyard Mall for their daily deal?

Today it’s a 2-pack of Line Chaserz for just $3.99 ($5.99 shipping, plus $1/item, for a maximum total shipping of $9.99). These are the cars where an optical sensor allows them to drive along a line your child draws. Very, very cool.

Buy some for the special little guy in your life, or buy some for donation. Either way, it’s big savings on big fun. And yes, they’ll follow a line drawn on anything. (Go ahead—ask me how I know that.)

Last day for shipping savings at Kohls

The current promotion of $.99 shipping per item at Kohls ends today, so you may want to check them out before the day is over.

Today is also the last day for Kohls card holders to use coupon code FALL15OFF for an additional 15% off, and code MVC8853 for free shipping on any order. Don’t have a Kohls card? You can still use code HOLIDAY4770 for an additional 10% off, through November 12th, 2008.

Edited to add: It looks like today only, between 11:00 and 4:00 (Eastern time), everyone can use coupon code ELECTION15 for an additional 15% off purchases.

There’s tons of new inventory in the clearance section, by the way. They should totally advertise their clearance as something like “Kohls Clearance: Like crack, but less bad for your teeth.” I think that could really catch on.

Want Not loves 11Alive News

Some of you have been kind enough to drop me a note to let me know you saw me on the local news yesterday, and a couple of others have mailed to ask where the clip can be seen.

Here it is!

Many thanks to 11Alive news and to Valerie Hoff for taking the time to come check out my little corner of the web!

Making your voice heard is the best bargain

If you haven’t done so already, I trust that all of you over the age of 18, who are American citizens, are planning to get out and vote tomorrow. We’re not going to have a political discussion, here—I’m not suggesting you vote for anyone in particular—just go exercise your right to participate in the democratic process. We are lucky to be able to do so!

And then, after you’ve done your duty as a citizen of this country (in what may well be the most important election of our lifetime), check out Fast Food Maven to find out where you can get post-voting freebies. Me, I’ll be headed from the polls straight to Starbucks for my free coffee.

Mmmmm… democracy.

Every man wants a big. . . laser

I’m not sure what the big deal about laser levels is. I mean, when I want to hang stuff on the wall, I just whine until my husband does it for me. No level required!

… oh. Well, okay, if you don’t like my method….

Amazon currently has the Strait-Line Self-Leveling Crossed Line Laser marked down to just $9.95 (free shipping eligible). Reviews are largely positive, and it’s the cheapest I’ve seen one of these. And most guys I know would find this an awesome stocking stuffer.

Though I have to say, the whining method is good, too.
