Pack it up

Been looking to replace your old luggage set, or have a kid going off to college or for study abroad? What you need is a complete set of luggage that will work for years without breaking the bank. (Alternatively, feel free to invest in one indestructible suitcase, but that will probably cost hundreds and you’ll still need additional pieces.)

I’m digging this luggage set at Kohls—not only does it have everything you need and comes in your choice of three colors, it’s marked down to just $49.99 for all five pieces. If you have a Kohls charge card, make it even better: Use code MVC8328 for free shipping and SAVE15BURG for an additional 15% off. Code NEW1913 works for 10% off for everyone, too.

Bon voyage!

Party in a box

Looking for a great new game to play at a party or on family game night? Check out Apples to Apples, which—believe me, I check regularly—almost never, ever goes on sale.

Except that right now it’s marked down to $17 and is free shipping eligible. So if you’ve had your eye on it (or want a great, fun game), you might want to grab it.

You can learn a lot about people while playing this game. Like that your friends are all really silly.

Like Indian food?

I’m going to preface this by saying that I do like Indian food, but I don’t use a lot of prepackaged stuff, and I have never used anything by Kitchens of India, so I have no idea if any of this is any good. (How’s that for a ringing endorsement? Mmmm, mmmm good!) However, most of these items have good reviews, so I’m going to assume it’s not too bad.

Anyway, here’s the deal: Eligible Kitchens of India items are currently marked down at Amazon, plus use code KTCHOF55 for an additional 35% off, plus sign up for Subscribe & Save (you can cancel it after your order ships) to save an additional 15%. It’s a great deal if you like these products (or even just want to try them).

I’m looking at the curry pastes. And getting really hungry.

Control everything

Well, I’m not sure how this does on the weather, or on children’s behavior (though what a seller they’d have there, if it did), but this Philips Universal Remote will control up to five devices, and is marked down from $99.99 to just $9.99 shipped at Buy.com.

I don’t knnow that it was ever really worth a hundred bucks, but it does allow you to pre-program some of your favorite channels and access them at the push of a button. This would allow me to be even lazier than I already am, which I think is a huge plus.

(At least, I think I think that. Let me take a nap before deciding for sure.)

A swinging baby is a happy baby

For those of you who missed it the last time this was marked down, it’s back for even less: The Fisher Price Papasan Cradle Swing is marked down to just $66.65 with free shipping at Amazon, right now.

There’s also a Cookie Magazine rebate available on your purchase, which will get you another $15 back—effectively making this just $51.65.

That’s a screaming deal on what is just about the highest-rated baby swing out there right now. (Not to be confused with a screaming baby, which hopefully you will not have if you buy this swing.)

Toy deals?

So, I was all excited about this new Monday Morning Toy Markdown thing at Amazon; last week there were some awesome deals. This week, I’m less impressed. But I’ll keep checking back.

About the only thing I saw that looked like a pretty decent deal was the Fisher Price Fun-2-Learn Computer for $35.99. Might be worth a look around, though.

Plus, last week they moved the prices all day long, so who knows! Maybe by lunchtime they’ll be selling all that stuff for $5! (Hey, I can dream.)

Another one bites the dust

It looks like Linens ‘N’ Things is going out of business. (I hope it wasn’t all of those 20% off coupons I used….)

That’s kind of a bummer, but shopping their liquidation event may ease the pain, somewhat. For now.

Saturday deals

Sorry for the delay this morning—I was busy eating pancakes with my parents (who are visiting and getting their recommended daily allowance of grandchildren). But let’s see if can’t find some deal-worthy items for the day.

If you missed it last time, the Harman Kardon Drive + Play for hooking up your iPod to your car’s stereo in style is back at Buy.com for just $18.99 shipped.

All weekend at Overstock, camping and outdoors items are an additional 10% off (plus shipping is just $1 on those items). Quilts and wheeled luggage are an additional 10% off, too.

There’s a One Day Sale going on at Macy’s, today. Select items are up to 65% off.

Ready to stock up for next year? The end-of-season-sale at Old Navy is on, and those deals are going fast.

That should keep you busy for a bit. I’ll have a contest up a little bit later on, so check back for your chance to win!

Friday’s feeling fine

Good morning, and welcome to this week’s installment of the Amazon Friday Sale. I’ve just started browsing through, and confess I’m hoping to run across something really ridiculous. Sometimes a really good giggle is even better than a good deal. Let’s see….

This t-shirt may fit the bill: Not only does it sport a gigantic smiley face, but the color is listed as “fondant.” Which does make me laugh. (Hint: Either fondant is the french for dark, which this shirt is not, or fondant is that stuff used in cake-making, in which case it’s whatever color you make it.)

How does this watch disturb me? Let me count the ways: Maybe it’s because it’s rose gold, for men. Or because it’s called the “skeleton prowler.” Or because it’s really ugly. Or because it’s “on sale” for $650. It’s really hard to say.

If that’s not amusing enough for you, check out the always entertaining and sacrilegious herbal holy water! Just like Jesus would’ve made, if Jesus had been a hippie!

And if you’ve ever asked yourself, “Self, I wonder if I could buy a coffin from Amazon?” the answer is yes.

[Okay, I’m done mocking, now. Thanks for letting me get that out of my system.]

Going camping? These Coleman sleeping bags are down to just $14.99, and this Eureka tent has great reviews and is down to $79.99.

I have to tell you, despite my love of fun shoes, I normally shy away from things like platform sandals. However, with Anne Klein’s help and $26.69, I might change my mind. Roooooawr. (This post somehow got very long… the rest is below the fold.) read more…

Would you pay $10 for 10 weeks of savings?

Sam’s Club isn’t really my cup of tea, but there’s no denying that they offer some great warehouse-type deals that can potentially save you big bucks. Of course, there’s the cost of joining, too, that must be factored into any net savings.

This weekend and next weekend, Sam’s Club is offering a 10-week, $10 membership to new customers. This may be a great way to try them out, particularly given that ten weeks will cover you for both Thanksgiving and the winter holidays.

You could probably make back that $10 on the first case of diapers or sandwich platter you buy. Or cookies! You could definitely make it back on cookies. You’re welcome!
