Even more cheap books

I’m starting to think this should have its own category. I could call it “I was surfing Amazon while I was supposed to be working and I found you these cheap books that would be great for party favors or whatever.” Too long? Maybe just a little…?

Okay, all of the following are eligible for the 4-for-3 promotion, which means even greater savings when you’re stocking up:

Egyptology Code-Writing Kit for $5.99 (40% off) (another -ologies book)
Mini Butterfly Tattoos or Snakes Tattoos for $.90 (40% off) (these are a huge crowd-pleaser, and great for filler items in orders that are close to being eligible for free shipping!)
The Latke Who Couldn’t Stop Screaming: A Christmas Story for $2.03 (80% off) (this is a Lemony Snicket book with great reviews)
Littlest Pet Shop Trading Cards: Volume One for $1.43 (80% off) (words cannot describe how much I dislike Littlest Pet Shop, but my children love them and love cards; this would be an awesome party favor)
Dream Bedroom: Use Recycled Materials to Make Cool Crafts for $3.89 (51% off) (great choice for your favorite ecokid)

I’ll come back and add some more if I find ’em. That should be enough to get you started wondering if I ever get anything done all day.

It says it has stain scrubbers

I just love little freebies of laundry detergent—it saves me from buying a whole big bottle of something to find out if I like it. This new Tide with Dawn detergent claims to be even tougher on stains than ever before, but who knows if that’s really true. I’ll have to try it to find out.

And during the 6-8 weeks while I’m waiting for it to arrive, I can fantasize that the StainScrubbers it includes are a few burly women who will do my laundry for me.

Stop looking at me like that.

Cheap shipping at Disney

Gooooooood morning! Did you stay up late watching the Oscars? Are you dragging a bit this morning? Perhaps this will help put some spring in your step.

Over at DisneyShopping, if you spend $29+, you can use coupon code SHIP29 to ship your entire order for just $2.99. This offer is good only today and tomorrow (February 25-26, 2008), so get on over there if there’s something you need. (Pssst! The code works in the Outlet, too!)

Saturday deals

Goooooood morning! I think it has finally stopped raining, here, which means I can abandon the ark I was working on and surf the deals for you, instead.

All weekend long, take $10 off your $150+ order at Overstock through that there link. (Hey, remember when we all got free Club O memberships? Club O now gives you free shipping on every order, too.)

Lane Bryant is having an online-only sale: Buy any top or bottom, get another half off. Sale is valid through February 27th, 2008. And don’t forget that you can use coupon code 000253666 for $25 off your $75+ purchase, too (coupon expires April 10th, 2008).

Who was bemoaning not being able to afford Planet Earth, the other day? Right now at the Discover Store, automatically get $50 off the Planet Earth HD DVD Set! Just add it to your cart and the coupon will appear, making it just $29.95. (Only the HD version is eligible for this discount.)

More savings at Omaha Steaks through that there link.

The Winter Clearance Sale at Terry’s Village is still going. You can also use coupon code JE0855206 for free shipping on your $40+ purchase.

Coupon code S2A28 is still working for 15% off at childrensplace.com, and they’ve just taken their first spring markdown on select merchandise. (This of course means that everyone I have my eye on for my kids is still full price, but maybe you’ll find a deal….)

Spring has sprung, and young men’s thoughts turn to thoughts of… hedge trimming. (Hey, 77% off a Black and Decker trimmer is pretty romantic right?)

I’m off to wrangle children and enjoy the day… have a good one!

I nuked this post once already

By accident, you understand. I’d spent 45 minutes going through the Amazon Friday Sale and then in a moment of sheer stupidity hit the wrong button—the back button on my browser, when I thought I was hitting enter in the text input box!—and *poof*! Post all gone!

Hopefully that’s the worst thing that will happen to me today. Now you get the abbreviated version, I’m afraid.

Pyrex is on sale again, and eligible for the 4-for-3 promotion. I switched over to Pyrex and chucked my plastic containers a few months ago. I love it. No more throwing away containers that got mangled in the dishwasher.

Need a filler? How about a fancy flyswatter?

Raaaaawr! Or—if you prefer flats—maybe these? (Don’t forget to pricematch at Endless!)

The original version of this post had a joke about heated toilet seats which I am now too grumpy to recreate. Please make up your own. (Ditto for this Lawn Hog, although the former really is a joke, while the latter is a pretty good deal if you need a mower.)

Ways to make your dog hate you: Here and here.

If you really, really, really like this white tea, it’s not only 65% off, but has a special $10 discount with coupon code TEAFUN22 available for when you spend $29+, so you could potentially fill your entire house with it for about $5. I’m only exaggerating a little. (Here’s all of the eligible Celestial Seasonings tea if you’d like a little more variety.)

This is an incredible deal on a heavy-duty CHI flat iron if you’ve been looking for one.

I don’t know who would’ve paid $50 for this Mickey Mouse watch, but for $14.99 I sort of think it’s cute.

And now I’m going to hit “publish” before I do something else moronic and lose this post, too. Heh.

The find that wasn’t

[But first: What happened with posting this week? Haven’t things seemed a little… well… thin? Why yes, thanks for noticing and not complaining. Sorry about the last few days being a bit light—it’s been one of those chicken-with-my-head-cut-off kinds of weeks, and I hope to return us to our regular programming next week.]

This past weekend I got a few hours to myself with nothing pressing to attend to, so I went over to TJ Maxx hoping to find a bargain. I started out looking for a purse (which is a story in and of itself, for another time), but by sheer luck came across an amazing dress. It was gorgeous. It was the only one left, and it happened to be my size. Original price (as evidenced by the manufacturer’s price tag): $265. TJ Maxx price: $29.99.

I tried it on, and the security tag was attached in such a way that I couldn’t tell if the dress lay properly. But for $29.99 I was willing to risk it. I bought it, brought it home, and immediately went and tried it on again to see if it fit better now that the tag was out. And… it didn’t.

For a minute I considered keeping it, anyway. What a steal! Maybe it was close enough! But there’s no amount of money (or savings) that make an ill-fitting garment a good deal, so back to the store it goes. Alas.

A fresh mouth in an emergency

My parents would argue that I have a fresh mouth all the time, I’m sure, but what I’m talking about here is clean teeth and fresh breath. (Pretty sure my folks are not complimenting my oral hygiene when they say that to me. Heh.)

Anyway, we’ve all had that time when we’re out running around and suddenly realize—ugh, coffee mouth, and now I have to go talk to someone important. Yuck. But DentaBurst wants to send you a free sample of their product—a little fingertip mitten designed to swipe around inside your mouth and freshen your smile. It’s not a toothbrush and toothpaste, but it’s the next best thing, and it’ll fit in your purse, no problem.

If you need (a lot of) dishes

One of the things I love about Boscovs is that they have a lot of sales. One of the things I hate about Boscovs is that shipping is a flat $9 no matter what you buy, so when you find something awesome for a couple of bucks… well, not so awesome once you pay for shipping, right?

Anyway. They have a variety of 16-piece, service for 4 dinnerware sets available for just $9.97 apiece. So that’s tableware for 4 for $18.97… or for 8 for just $28.94… or for 12 for $38.91, shipped. Not bad.

Here’s some of the choices:

Multi Band 16 Piece Dinnerware Set
Stripes 16 Piece Set
Blue Band 16 Piece Dinnerware Set
Flora Calica 16 Piece Set
French 16 Piece Set

Buy two or three of those babies and $9 shipping starts to look like a real deal….

Ahoy! Deals on -ologies!

If you’ve spent any time ’round here at all, you know that I am a fool for the -ology books; rather, my children cannot get enough of them. (My daughter has lately been cursing me with her Wizardology wand kit, actually. Maybe I should rethink this….) Anyway, when I saw these deals I knew I needed to pass them along.

First, the Pirateology Guidebook and Model Set is currently 77% off—down to just $4.07. We don’t have this one (yet!) but we have done the Dragonology book/model set and it was a blast. This is a great item for the gift closet for any little scurvy pirates you know.

Second, the Wizardology Handbook is currently nearly half off, at $6.68. Not as smokin’ of a deal, to be sure, but a great price if you’ve been stalking these books as I so often do.

Last, there is now this adorable set of Dragonology Pocket Adventures available (I’d not seen this before), and while it’s currently at what appears to be the regular price— $9.99—it’s eligible for the 4-for-3 promotion. So if you were picking up some other things, that might be good information to have.

(Also, the reviews on the Wizardology handbook are pretty funny. Did you know that some people were shocked, shocked! to discover there are pretend spells in that book? Heh.)
