Save and ship it for free
If you go on over to Classic Closeouts now through October 17th, 2007, when you spend $40+ you can use coupon code CJBLZR to take $10 off your order. Plus, those $40+ order ship for free.
They’re having a big blazers event right now, but this applies to everything they sell. (Thank goodness. It’s still in the 80s here—who can think about blazers??)
Now it pays for itself even faster
If you’ve ever had an Entertainment Book, you already know that the coupons in it give you savings on everything from breakfast to dry cleaning to hotels. If you use it just a few times, typically you make back your purchase cost in no time. And right now, you can buy the 2008 Entertainment Book & get a FREE $25 Restaurant Certificate, good at over 8,500 restaurant nationwide, which means that for the smaller books/areas, all you have to do is use that certificate and you’ve paid for the book. Not bad at all.
(And shipping’s only a buck right now, too.)
Did someone say decadent?
Have I ever shared with you my philosophy that no home should be without an emergency chocolate stash, even if it’s only one serving of whatever it is? This would be a good thing to squirrel away for an emergency, is all I’m saying.
For the tea-serious
What a coincidence… I am enjoying a nice cup of tea right now!
Have you ever had PG Tips? I spent one semester abroad, in college, where I majored in complaining about the rain in London, going to the theater, and drinking PG Tips. I returned home with a suitcase stuffed to the brim with teabags, well and fully hooked. You can buy it here in the US but it’s generally quite expensive.
Ready for a lot of tea? If you want 640 PG Tips teabags, right now it’s on sale at Amazon for $30 with free shipping. Plus you can take off another $10 with coupon code PGTIPS55. I’m not sure you can buy that nasty Lipton stuff this cheap.
[Edited to add: Of course, the one I linked to is now sold out. Don’t worry! The coupon works on other eligible PG Tips products, too, though of course the one I linked was the best deal. If you love this tea, though, just get your PG Tips total up to $29+ to use the coupon.]
Cheap Family Fun
My favorite magazine (yeah, yeah… I never claimed to be deep), Family Fun is the deal of the day over at Best Deal Magazines today. It’s marked down to $4.59, and if you use coupon code PXCJ107 for 15% off, the price will drop to $3.90 for the year.
Family Fun has recipes and crafts and vacation ideas, not to mention that it has enough advertising to make it a treasure trove of collage fodder when it comes time for the kids to come looking for magazines to cut up. (That’s how I rate my magazines now. Will the kids enjoy cutting them to shreds? Yes? Excellent!)
Welcome a baby without emptying your wallet
The very pretty—erm, wait, I think maybe handsome—Nick writes:
Mir, You are very very pretty and your blog is the bomb dot com. I was wondering if you could help me out finding some deals on things for little ones, more specifically the very very little ones. My good friend and his wife just had their first baby, a little girl. I would like to get them a present, but don’t have a whole lot of coin these days. I almost ordered the little bear costume you posted the other day, but wasn’t sure if blue was appropriate for infant girls. Also, any advice on what new parents might need would be helpful, as I am only in my 20s and this is my first friend to have a little crumb snatcher. Thanks again my pretty friend.
Nick
This is a great question, because most of us reach an age where suddenly all of our friends are spawning, and the “what do we buy for a new baby?” question starts coming up a lot. Fortunately this issue a lot easier to deal with than you might think. Because it turns out that there is no shortage of stuff to buy for babies! read more…
A quickie — cheapie toddler Sorel snow boots!
Here’s a fine example of the price-matching magic you can work with a bit of patience.
I just found these Sorel Toddler Snow Command Boots at Endless on sale for $19.79 (please note that only the French Blue is that price), less the automatic $5 they take off, so effectively they are $14.79 shipped. That’s a great deal on a pair of Sorel boots!
But it gets even better, because the same boots are for sale over at Zappo’s for $46.95. With their 110% pricematching policy, if you can find the same size/color combo both places, you can order them from Zappos and get them for $11.57 shipped.
(Detailed instructions on how to pricematch shoes are here. But basically you can order from the Zappo’s link above and then call in to have your total adjusted by telling them you found them cheaper at Endless.)
[Edit: Here’s another one, not quite as cheap, but comes in a couple of big kid sizes as well. Over at Endless, the Kamik Rocket 2 Snow Boots are $24.89 or $19.89 shipped, which means that pricematching them to Zappo’s price of $57.95
will make them just $16.08 shipped.]
Coinstar wants to give you an Amazon certificate
I told you a while back that you can use Coinstar machines for free if you take your payout in the form of a gift certificate to various merchants. And now you can get a free $10 Amazon certificate when you count at least $30 with them. Why? I don’t know. Maybe they’re hoping you’ll come for the free gift certificate and find yourself hopeless hooked on the magic that is watching the Coinstar machine count your change. Who knows.
But if you’ve been waiting for the right time to bring your change in, this might be it.
Games games games
Hey, it looks like all games at Toys ‘R’ Us are currently shipping for free, and the Hasbro games are all marked down 30%. If you’ve been meaning to stock up this would be the perfect time to do it.
(I am developing a love of board games in my old age. The fact that they stack nicely in the gift closet is just an added bonus.)
Free shipping for everyone
Hey, from now until December 21st, 2007, you can ship your LL Bean order shipped for free, no code needed. It’s a little early Christmas cheer, or something. Really, who cares why. It’s automatic free shipping.
