Happy anniversary, Eddie!
Hey, sorry about running off yesterday. Those darn kids, always needing things and bothering me, sheesh.
Why not start today off with the realization that yes, we must be very, very old: Today (February 26th, 2011) only, Eddie Bauer is celebrating their 91st (!!) anniversary. Use coupon code NINETYONE to save 30% on absolutely everything (even clearance, which is a rarity for Eddie Bauer), which will soothe the sting of realizing how very old we are.
I mean, c’mon. Even the wrinkle-free shirts are on sale. Get it? Old? Wrinkle-free? Oh, nevermind.
A brief Friday delay
Good morning! I have to head out for a bit and take care of some kid things before I can come back here and properly attend to shopping for the day (heh), so I’m just going to suggest that you check out various dailies until I get back: There’s the Amazon Friday Sale, the Target Daily Deals, all of today’s goodies over at 6pm.com, and finally, the $25 for $50 to Marbles Groupon is back again (love that).
See you in a little bit.
Mmmm… satsuma
It used to be that I couldn’t adequately explain my infatuation with The Body Shop, other than to sheepishly point out that I fell in love with them in London, as a college student, before they existed in the U.S. That made them seem exotic (hey, when you’re 20, anything you can’t get back home is exotic), even aside from being the first store when I ever bought henna conditioner.
Nowadays, though, if someone asks me to explain, I can just say: “Satsuma.” If you’ve smelled it, you know. If you don’t, it sounds mysterious enough to convince you. It’s orangey. Citrusy. It’s delicious. I will smear any Body Shop product on my body that’s satsuma-scented, and that’s the truth.
Want to get some Body Shop love going without spending a bundle? Buckle up, because there’s plenty of ways to scoop up a deal right now. First, most of their skin care is currently buy 2, get 1 free. Second, spend $30+ and you can get a free full-size ($16 value) body butter (get the satsuma!). Third, shipping is automatically free on $50. And finally—the icing on the cake—I’ve got another exclusive code for us! Just use DEALPRO through February 27th, 2011 to save an additional 20% on everything!
Now you can get excited about The Body Shop, too.
The secret to child labor
You know the old adage about how kids always want to help with chores right up until they’re finally old enough to do a good job? I’ve yet to master making dishes seem appealing, but I’m here to tell you that there’s an easy way to get kids to love dusting: Swiffers. Yes, Swiffer! I don’t know what’s so darn exciting about it, but I do know that 1) those fluffy duster thingies (yes, that’s the technical term) are foolproof and 2) my children will actually argue over who gets to dust.
I can only conclude that Swiffers contain both dirt-attracting properties and invisible sugar. I have no other explanation.
Today (February 24th, 2011) only, shop Swiffer products at Soap.com and use coupon code SWIFFERFEB to save 50%, up to a total discount of $10.
They recently raised the threshold for free 2-day shipping to $39, but I’m still not having any trouble reaching that, personally.
The last ladder you’ll ever need
Here’s one for the do-it-yourself-ers out there: Right now Amazon has the Werner 22-foot 300-lb capacity Multi-Ladder available for just $159 shipped. That’s not only a good $100 cheaper than it’s being sold anywhere else, the free shipping on a 42-pound item isn’t too shabby, either.
Looking at all the different ways you can configure this baby kind of makes me want to start declaring, “It slices! It dices! It makes perfect julienned fries every time!” Basically, with this one ladder, you have a stepladder, extension ladder, scaffolding—pretty much anything you might need. The fact that you can configure it to work on stairs is pretty sweet (and something I wish I’d had the last time we painted).
And sure, you may be buried in snow now, but come Spring you might be glad you had the foresight to order ahead. I have it on good authority that the rain gutters don’t clean themselves.
For anyone who missed the last TP deal
I, personally, now have enough toilet paper to last us the rest of the year; I know quite a few of you hopped on that last deal and can say the same. But if you have a toilet-paper-sized hole in your life (wait, that sounds wrong…), this deal may be for you.
Amazon currently has a 10-pack of Charmin Ultra Strong 4-Count Big Rolls—that’s 40 rolls in all—available for $26.34. You should see a “Clip this coupon” button underneath the item description to save another quarter (I know, I know, but every little bit helps), and then if you buy via Subscribe & Save it comes out to just over $22 shipped. That’s about $.55/roll for these premium double rolls, plus the assurance that you won’t be running out any time soon.
For a bargain like this, I can almost forgive Charmin for those terrible cartoon bears. (Not quite, but almost.)
My favorite way to get a new dress
It only happens a couple of times a year, and today it’s on—it’s time to shop the Additional 40% off Sale at Dillard’s! It used to be they didn’t have a sale section, even… you just had to scroll through eeeeeverything and look for the red print. But now you can just click on “Sale & Clearance” and there you go—clothing around 70% off after all discounts.
I can tell you from experience that the good stuff goes quickly, so shop early if you plan to shop. Just don’t buy that dress I’m looking at. Heh.
More magazines for less, plus money back
Everyone look at alert Want Not reader Mandy. Now everyone tell Mandy how absolutely ravishing she’s looking, today. Because she is extremely pretty.
Mandy just emailed to tip me off to this special running at Amazon for the next five days: Spend $20 on qualifying magazines, get $10 back as a promotion code for a future purchase. Nice, right? Even better: They’ve got a bunch of 2 for $20 subscriptions (that includes O Magazine!), so you could pick up two subscriptions for a grand total of… $10. When you figure on the money you’re getting back, anyway.
Not a bad way to pick up a little light reading. Thanks, Mandy!
Ooohhhh, baby!
You’ve got just two days (February 23rd and 24th) to take 15% off your purchase of baby merchandise at Old Navy with coupon code ONBABY15. It doesn’t work on “Everyday Steals” or denim (yes, your baby totally needs fashionable jeans), but it does work on items in the sale section. Go figure.
Shipping is automatically free on your $50+ purchase. And babies are automatically cute in everything Old Navy sells. Especially the wee adorable little shoes and goofy little hats.
