I can’t decide what to look at first

I love days like today. I mean, I hate days like today. I mean, on days like today when 6pm.com has so many featured specials that I can’t decide which one I should scope out first, my brain melts a little bit.

But in a good way.

See if it’s any easier for you—70% off Kate Spade and designer handbags, or 75% off designer label clothing, sunglasses, watches, and select shoes. Plus other deals.

This is one of those rare times when you could make an entire outfit there, just off front-page links. I’m trying to resist, but doesn’t that sound like a worthy challenge to you…? (Justification, thy name is 6pm….)

A local deal with national appeal

Are you checking Groupon regularly? Not only do they offer great discounts for your local businesses, I’m seeing them extend national and online deals more and more. It’s just a matter of knowing where to look.

So, today, for example, you might want to pretend you’re from North Jersey. Why? Because North Jersey’s deal is $50 worth of toys at Brighter Beginnings for just $20 out of pocket.

It’s a good day to be in Jersey (even if only figuratively!), is all I’m saying.

Soak it all up

I’m trying very hard to break the paper towel habit (with old dishtowels, cloth diapers, etc.), but there are some messes I would really rather just pick up and throw away. (I will not detail them here. Use your imagination.) And because I’m using fewer paper towels, I maintain my allegiance to Bounty as the best paper towel, and justify the cost because I don’t buy a lot of them.

Well. Right now you can get 12 huge rolls of Bounty (the equivalent of 30 regular rolls) shipped from Amazon for a grand total of just under $20. Use coupon code PAPER9IO to save 15%, then purchase via Subscribe & Save for another 15% off and free shipping.

At my current rate of consumption, those 12 rolls may last me for two years. And I’m okay with that.

This may be what’s wrong with America

I can’t stop shaking my head. But maybe you either 1) often flail around in the dark like Mr. Magoo or 2) need a white elephant gift.

Today’s Daily Steals Steal of the Day is… slippers with built-in LED flashlights. So you can see in the dark. Possibly so that you can see how utterly sexy you look in your lighted slippers. In the dark.

The slippers are “free,” just pay $4.99 shipping. And let the hilarity ensue, one imagines.

How to get there, every time

The current Lightning Deal in the Amazon Gold Box is a Garmin Nuvi 1200 with text-to-speech (translation: spoken street names) for just $80 shipped.

Remember back when you couldn’t get a decent GPS for under $200? Those were the confused old days. (Remind me to tell you sometime about the extremely important doctor’s appointment my son never made it to because I missed a highway exit and nearly drove to Maine. True story.)

Wednesday means Kohls

It wouldn’t be Wednesday without deals and Doorbusters at Kohls, so let’s count the ways you can save today:
1) Automatic free shipping when you spend $75+ (no coupon needed).
2) Today’s deals. (Everything’s on sale! What a shock!)
3) Get $10 Kohls Cash for every $50 you spend. (Woo!)
4) If you have a Kohls card, you should’ve gotten a peelie for an extra discount in the mail. Remember I’m only allowed to share the 15% off code, which is FALLSAVINGS. But if you got a higher one, yay you!
5) Everyone can use code NEW5873 for an additional 10% off.

That’s five ways to rack up the savings on stuff you need anyway, and I don’t know about you, but I’m calling that pretty good for a Wednesday.

Free Lego? Okay!

Have a Lego-crazy member of your household? My “joy” at stepping on tiny bricks in the wee hours (in bare feet… always when I’ve forgotten my slippers) aside, you simply can’t beat Lego for a fantastic way to keep the kids creative and occupied.

Right now Toys ‘R’ Us is offering a bonus Lego deal. Buy any Lego set at all and you can select one of these Ben 10 Lego sets to receive for free.

Keen observers will note that the free sets retail for $14.99, while you can spend as little as $3.99 to get in on the deal. Now, unless you spend $100+ you’ll have to pay shipping, but you’ll only spend $5 on shipping if you order the cheapest set, meaning you’ve spent $9 on $19 worth of Lego. Still a good deal, in my book.

I really hope I don’t step on one of those Ben 10 creatures. They look especially pointy.

The antidote to chilly mornings

If I ever bothered to wear make-up, I’d probably be interested in the Sonia Kashuk brush set in today’s Target Daily Deals, but because I rarely do, I’ll leave those to you. What’s caught my eye, though, is the plethora of cardigan choices for just $10. It’s hard to argue with a cardigan; they’re perfect for the chilly mornings bringing us into Fall, now, and perfect for layering once the weather turns truly cold. And at $10 apiece, they’re also perfect for that tween/teen who has a bad case of the “I forgot”s. Ahem.

A vote for me is more pretty for you

Friends, Romans, fellow penny-pinchers: Want Not was started as a labor of love, and I’m really lucky that it has evolved into something more than that. But at its core, this is something I do because I love it. Because I love you. Because I love pretty shoes, and everyone should be able to afford them.

Savings.com is hosting a small conference for what they’re calling “DealPros” in November. The catch is that you have to be invited, and that happens if enough people vote for you. I am currently in second place amongst other community vote leaders, and this morning I did a little experiment by putting this link on the Want Not Facebook fan page to see how many votes I could get just through that. The tally is pretty good so far (thanks to everyone who’s already voted!), but I’d love to really crank up the votes.

What do you get? If I end up going to Save Up, I’m going to get to hang out with other DealPros for two days, learning even more ways to save you money and help you have more with less. I think it’d be pretty cool.

Will you help me get there? Just click through to vote for me (no registration required), share the link with others, and cross your fingers. I’d love to represent our little community here in Chicago in November. You’re looking incredibly pretty today, by the way.

A not-so-guilty pleasure

I have a real weakness for snack food. In fact (much to my kids’ chagrin), I don’t keep much of it in the house, because I am a weak, weak woman. Alas.

What I do buy, I like to be relatively healthy. But I’m not ready to give up chips, not entirely. One of my favorite brands is FoodShouldTasteGood, which is a ridiculous name but a delicious product, I swear. They’re gluten-free, natural, and made with real food (and fabulous flavors). But I need to find ’em on sale, so this current special at Amazon totally fits the bill. Save 15% and get free shipping when you buy via Subscribe & Save, plus save another 20% with code GOODFOOD. And they’re already marked down!

Hmmm. I’m noticing the S&S option isn’t showing up for many of these. (Amazon, really. Get it together.) But even with just 20% off, most of the flavors in the larger bags end up at a little over $2/bag, which is less than half what they cost at my supermarket.
