Gear up for your workout

Getting ready to hit the gym, or taking a new workout class, or just trying to use your elliptical as something other than a clothes tree these days? You might be needing some new workout clothes. For three days only—through August 6th, 2009—automatically get 20% off the highest-price item in your order at ChampionUSA.com through that there link.

Not a bad deal if you’ve got your eye on, say, one of their more serious bras.

In case you’re thinking thin

You don’t need to lose any weight—heck, you look fabulous—but since going wheat-free I’ve become a fan of foods in bar-form that I can tuck into my purse for food emergencies. And if those bars can be nutritionally dense and maybe even help me lose weight, well, who can argue with that?

So in my cruising around of grocery deals I found this variety pack of thinkThin bars on special at Amazon. Now, they caught my interest because they’re gluten-free, but they also have 20 grams of protein per bar, so they sound like a pretty decent “energy bar” option for just about anyone.

And here’s the deal: These normally cost about $2/bar. Right now the case of 20 is marked down to $30, plus you can use coupon code THINKTH4 to save another 25%, and using Subscribe & Save saves you an additional 40% and (as always) gets you free shipping. The net result is less than a buck a bar.

Did I mention that two of the three flavors are chocolate? Yum.

Mmmm. . . coffee

I’m always up for free samples of coffee. Mostly because I like free things. Or mostly because I like coffee. Or… hey, it’s possible I shouldn’t be allowed to talk (type) before I’ve finished my morning cup. Ahem.

Anyway, if you surf on over to Dunkin Donuts online and click the “Taste For Free” graphic on the lower right, they’ll let you choose a free sample of coffee to receive.

Ah, sweet elixir of life….

Space-age violence is the best kind

Hey, remember that deal on Wii lightsabers from a while back? I think you’re supposed to use them with this Clone Wars game, which is currently being offered by Amazon for $19.99. (It’s defaulting to a different seller; just look in the “more buying choices” column on the right to find the Amazon offering.)

Apparently this is a great price. And apparently slicing and dicing your opponents is a great way to relieve stress. Ahem.

(Do note that this game is rated T for teens, though many of the reviewers speak of playing it with much younger children. I personally have a rule that my children must be at least twelve before I allow them to kill things on the Wii.) (Except that I just made that up just now because neither of them are 12 yet.)

The Gold Box deal worthy of the Gold Box

Let’s face it; sometimes the deal in the Amazon Gold Box are good, but not positively thrilling, or anything. Today, however, I am kicking myself because I recently upgraded my GPS unit, and today’s deal is the Garmin Nuvi 265, which not only has text-to-speech and bluetooth capability, it comes with lifetime traffic updates.

Lifetime traffic updates. Why didn’t I hold out for that? Sigh.

Today only, it’s $150 shipped. Feel free to pick one up and love it and hug it and call it George, which is totally what I would be doing if I hadn’t bought its lesser cousin (no traffic! woe!) a couple of weeks ago.

Itsy bitsy computing on the go

Y’all know I’m a Mac girl, but eventually it became clear to me that even my beloved iPhone wasn’t going to be sufficient for everything I need to do while on the road. I picked up an Asus Eee PC earlier this summer and love it; it does everything I need in a tiny little package. I even stick it in my purse and take it to doctor’s appointments, now.

Of course, netbooks come in all shapes and sizes and levels, but the exact one I bought is on sale for $180 at Buy.com today with free shipping. It’s got Linux, not Windows—which is nice if you’re sort of leery of Windows (I am)—but still has a pretty intuitive desktop and all of the applications you’re likely to need. At that price, you can hardly go wrong.

Note: This computer is only 9″, which is great if you want something ultra-portable. The teeny keyboard does take some getting used to, though, so I wouldn’t recommend it as a “primary computer” unless you’re a little person or under the age of 12. Just sayin’.

It’s baaaa-aaaaack!

In case you haven’t noticed, your kids grew approximately six inches and ten pounds this summer. Which—when you think about it—explains why the fridge is always empty. And it’s fine that you’ve been letting them run around like barefoot savages all summer, but once school starts, I guess you’re going to be expected to put shoes on them.

Except (of course) they’ve outgrown all of their shoes.

It’s Famous Footwear to the rescue! Their Buy 1 Pair, Get the 2nd Half Off sale is on again, plus combine it with coupon code 17sav20 for an additional 20% off and free shipping on all orders. (This is, incidentally, the only way I will buy dress shoes for my kids. I cannot stomach paying any more than this for shoes that only get worn once a week!)

If a cute pair for you falls into your shopping cart, well, you’re only human.

Back to cool (in case you left)

Granted, it’s not their $5 sale, but if you’re simply dying for some cool new shirts from Threadless, their Back 2 Cool sale is on this week.

That means every single T is on sale; some are as low as $8.

You really can’t go wrong with Threadless shirts. I’ve started putting them in the gift closet and giving them at birthday parties. The kids like ’em and the parents always pull me aside and thank me for not buying another hunk of plastic junk.

This is utterly crazy

A great big huge “Gosh you are pretty” shout-out is going to alert Want Not reader Mary for this one:

So, we first discovered the EnviroKidz Crispy Rice bars years ago, when we were doing a gluten-free trial with one of my kids. They’re basically a healthy, organic version of chocolate rice krispies. Yum. And Amazon is currently offering a case of six boxes (36 bars in total) for about $18, or around $12 after coupon and Subscribe & Save, which is pretty good.

But pretty Mary clicked through to the “other buying options” and discovered that the same case of 36 bars is currently being offered for $4.99 plus $.99 shipping through The Vitamin Shoppe. Just in case math isn’t your thing, let me make that a little clearer for you: That’s less than seventeen cents per bar. For a gluten-free, organic snack.

Mary says her order has already shipped. If this truly works, this is insane.

Saturday deals

Good morning! It has barely rained in Georgia all summer long, so of course we are camping this weekend and it’s done nothing but pour so far. I may need some new shoes to make myself feel better. Just sayin’.

Thank goodness—both Cole Haan and Franco Sarto shoes are on sale at 6pm.com today, if it comes to that.

Target’s daily deals feature that adorable red tea set I love, as well as a leather journal that would make a great gift, and a couple of other things. Remember, daily deals always ship for free.

Wanna be a VIP at The Children’s Place? Your wish is my command! Today (August 1st, 2009) only, shop online and use coupon code S2DSE to save a whopping 25% on your order! The Monster Sale is still going on, of course, plus they’ve got new styles for Falll and school uniform essentials.

Need some Mabel’s Labels to start off the school year? Go check out how you can get 10% off over at Lee’s place (thanks, Lee!).

The summer sale at Lands’ End seems to be endless, which is awesome because we love sales. Heh. And lookie here… a new free shipping code! (Hint: There’s backpacks on sale for school….) Just use code JULY31 with PIN 1056 for free shipping on any size order, through the weekend.

Cooking up a storm, and haven’t been able to find that thing you really need to complete your gourmet setup? Over at Cooking.com, you can get $15 off your $100+ order with coupon code C88966. They have lots of pretty, shiny things I’d like to fill my kitchen with.

Don’t forget that it’s still a great time to stock up on lunch box snacks at Amazon; use coupon code BCKSCLO9 to save 40% off 5, 30% off 3, or 20% off any 2 items from any of these grocery items. Unlike most other Amazon grocery promos, this one will cover all of August even though it was already running last month. Woohoo!

I need to go play in the rain for a bit, but I’ll be back with a contest this afternoon. Try to stay out of trouble until then.
