Shoe deals aplenty
My name is Mir, and it’s been an entire week since I bought a pair of shoes. (“Hi, Mir!!”)
Look; I know I’ve always said there are enough places to buy shoes with free shipping and free returns that you should never pay to ship ’em, but I have to tell you that I am rapidly becoming completely addicted to 6pm.com in spite of the shipping charge. The prices are so low that even factoring it in, I’m still getting awesome shoes for crazy cheap. And today you can get select Gabriella Rocha shoes for just $12.95, or a variety of Simple shoes for up to half off, or, heck, lots of other things, too. Shipping is a flat $6.95 no matter how much you order; so, really, more shoes means a lower shipping cost per pair.
Remember: Shoes always fit, no matter how many Cadbury eggs you ate this weekend. Just sayin’.
A little (early) Mother’s Day gift for yourself
I share this with the caveat that I know very little about it, but it’s free and that generally makes it worth my while to check it out: Next month you can download a book called The Mother’s Guide to Self-Renewal for free. Sounds good, right? But why am I telling you now? Well, you can go sign up to be emailed the link when the time comes. How convenient!
(I’m glad for this sort of notification system, because I’m apt to see something shiny and forget all about it by May.)
It certainly sounds like a book most of us can use, right? And if not, well, it’s not like it cost you anything.
I could probably break a bone playing this
I don’t ski or snowboard because 1) I hate snow and 2) I have zero coordination. Combine those two things and you’re left with someone who should never, ever be allowed to strap slippery things to her feet.
Not even virtually! (I mean, I could fall off my balance board and hurt myself.)
If you’re more coordinated than I am, you might want to check out today’s Amazon Gold Box Deals for the Shaun White Snowboard game for every possible platform. It’s around $15 for PlayStation 2 and Nintendo DS, and about $30 for the Wii. (Plus, if you don’t already own a Wii Fit, if you buy one today they’ll knock another $10 off the snowboarding game and you can get it for under $20!)
You go enjoy. I’ll just be sitting riiiiight here in my chair. Where I’m safe.
Saturday deals
Good morning! It’s a bright, sunny day here, which is awesome, because the tornado warning last night kind of freaked me out. Ahem.
Shopping for something other than jellybeans and Peeps, today? I’ve got you covered!
This weekend is Overstock’s Big Spring Sale, with 10% off all sorts of things (camping! golf! wedding rings!) through Monday only. Though, dude, seriously—please don’t buy your wedding ring the same place you buy your putter. That just freaks me out.
Shopping for the patio? Select outdoor furniture is 50% off at Domestications right now, plus you can use coupon code D9AFFCD for 10% off $50, 15% off $100 or 20% off $200.
Know how most coupons at Disney don’t work in the outlet? This weekend only, shop the Disney Outlet and use coupon code BONUS25 to save an additional 25%. That stacks with code SHIPTODAY, which is still valid for $5 shipping on your $89+ order.
How often can you buy a little peace for just a buck? Today Amazon has 150 Fun Kid Songs available for download for a dollar. Ahhhh.
The Big Sale is on at Lillian Vernon; use coupon code 569830100 to get flate-rate $5 shipping on your order.
Through the weekend only, Lands’ End is taking 25% off Swim for the whole family. Depending on what you’re buying, this may be a better deal than the ubiquitous free shipping code. But, hey, I only want the best for you—why not save on a swimsuit and get free shipping? Use code FIT1 and PIN 3576 to ship your order for free.
BookCloseouts has a bunch of their best fiction marked down to $1.99 apiece this weekend (thanks, Elizabeth!), so it might be a good time to stock up for summer reading.
If you want to go a bit more educational, History Channel Store is offering 50% off U.S. history DVDs throughout April, plus shipping is automatically free on your $75+ order.
And psssst—the buy one pair, get the second half price sale at Famous Footwear is still going on, but the additional 20% off your order coupon 0409799 expires today, so get shopping.
Have a wonderful Saturday, everyone! (There will be a contest later today, as soon as I figure out what it is….)
Why yes, it IS a Good Friday
I know, I know—it may be just a tad sacrilegious to talk about Good Friday and the Amazon Friday Sale together, but I think you’d agree that my affinity for the latter does border on religious fervor. So there’s that.
Anyway!
Need some good running shoes (for, like, when the locusts arrive because you keep talking smack about Good Friday)? There’s New Balance options for women (starting at just under $30) and for men (starting at around $50).
Question: Could you be depressed with these mixing bowls in your cupboard?
Answer: No. No, you couldn’t.
Question: Okay, how about if you owned these dishes? Could you be depressed then?
Answer: Possibly, but it would be a hip and arty depression, infused with ennui.
Amazon must have a ton of these Anolon sets, because it keeps showing up in the Friday Sale… but $180 for the complete professional set is a steal.
Please excuse me… I need a moment alone with this mixer. We’re just going to discuss the free slicer/shredder or grinder attachment you can choose to receive for free with purchase. Honest.
I officially love this Sanyo rice and slow cooker because it’s down to $88 and rates 4.5 stars, but unofficially I love it because one of the reviewers says “I think it’s made out of magic.” Hee.
This groovy flat iron would be a good starter for a teen who keeps stealing your fancy one. Ahem.
Mmmmm… Snackimals! With the Friday Sale price and Subscribe & Save, these come out to about $.50/serving, and they’re all natural. (Made from pampered organic grains that were never kept in a cage, dontchaknow.)
Don’t forget to check out the Friday Five—five MP3 album downloads for just $5 each, today only.
Also, put that chocolate bunny back in its hiding place. You bought those for the kids. Sheesh.
Leggo my LEGO
Can you ever have enough LEGO? My son says no. Then again, he collects twigs, so take his opinion for what it’s worth.
Anyway, they’ve just restocked the LEGO sales and deals area, and there’s a ton of sets listed at half-off. There’s also a cute little LEGO photo album marked down from $10 to $3, which would be a really fun party favor at a LEGO-themed party, I’m thinking.
Shipping is just $4.95 on orders of up to $25. You can use coupon code BSCD28 to take $5 off your $20+ order, but keep in mind that it doesn’t work on sale items. (Well, that’s not entirely true; it works on sale items, but causes them to revert to full price. Not good!)
In case you’re cold and thirsty
I can’t remember the last time I highlighted the Thursday Morning Markdown at LL Bean, but how can I resist today’s offering? It’s a jacket in a bottle
Really.
I… don’t know why. I’m sorry. But I do know that $15ish for a nylon jacket and a reusable water bottle is pretty good. Use coupon code 3003156 for free shipping.
Phone-o-rama
Need new cordless phones? How about four handsets and an answering machine for just $40 shipped? (The set has mixed reviews at Amazon, though for this price you can hardly go wrong.)
Word of advice, though: It doesn’t matter how many handsets you have. They will all end up on the same table, together, when you’re at the other end of the house desperately trying to find and answer the phone. If you accept this as a fact of life with a pack of cordless phones, you get used to it.
I love the smell of organics in the morning
Good morning! Have you been through the April grocery deals at Amazon, yet? Check out this one: Buy $59+ worth of eligible natural/organic groceries and save $15 (and get a free reusable grocery bag) with coupon code EARTH222.
This promotion covers a huge array of brands I really dig, including three entire pages of Nature’s Path foods. Now, I like Nature’s Path for their cereal and such, but really, how can you not love a healthy brand that makes cherry pomegranate pop-tarts? (Just as unhealthy as the originals, but with organic ingredients and designer flavors!)
Keep in mind that additional discounts are available for many of these items if you buy via Subscribe & Save, but S&S doesn’t allow you to “mix” items for coupon application. Meaning, if you want to use both S&S and the coupon code, you have to buy $59+ of a single item to be able to apply the coupon. If you want to mix and match with the coupon, you can’t use Subscribe and Save.
(And if you want to buy organic pop-tarts, I’m going to giggle at you a little. I mean, I still love you, but I’m just letting you know.)
Text-to-speech on the cheap
This one is a great deal—potentially—but you need to go into it with your eyes open.
Here’s the bargain: Right now Amazon is offering the Nav 740 GPS unit for just $89.99 shipped, and it looks like it has a lot of features (particularly for that price point), including text-to-speech.
[For the GPS newbies: Units without TTS say, “Turn left.” Units with TTS say, “Turn left on Oak Street.”]
The reviews are extremely mixed, however, pertaining mostly to what looks like poor battery life. Personally, I always plug my GPS unit in when I’m using it, but poor battery life may be more of a sticking point for others.
If you plan to plug it in and don’t mind that it’s not one of the major name brands, this may be the deal for you, though.
