My wish was bigger, though
Look, it’s not that I don’t appreciate it when Hanna Andersson has a sale, because I totally do. And 20% off nearly everything is great, don’t get me wrong.
But I can’t get behind them calling is the “Get What You Wish Sale.” Because if we’re going with what I wished for, I wish for at least 50% off. Or—heck, why not—free Swedish cotton all around! Look under your chair! Everyone reading this blog gets a free pair of stripey long johns, woooooo!
I know, I know. I’m just sayin’. Why not just call it the 20% Off Nearly Everything Sale? Truth in advertising, people. Learn it. Love it.
Enhance your Wii, save some dough
If you’ve been thinking about getting a balance board for your Wii, this may be the week to grab one—right now Target has the Wii Fit Plus with Balance Board on special for just $77 and free shipping. But if you use the aforementioned 10% off code C4XLD4LP, that takes it down to around $70. Woo! Not bad at all. (For comparison: Still right around $100 at Amazon right now.)
This may be a great way to scoop up a deal prior to the Black Friday madness, if you have your heart set on one. I’ll confess, I rarely use mine for exercise, anymore, but it is a fun addition to several games we have.
And if I were less of a slug, I’d probably still use it to exercise, too.
Ignore the technical difficulties
It seems that the Target Daily Deals are doing that thing, again, where the main page doesn’t show a markdown. So it says they have trench coats, originally $49.99, for… $49.99. Ignore that! It’s not true. If you add one to your cart, it’s a cool $20. And they come in a rainbow of colors, so I’m trying to decide which color I need right now. (I’m thinking gray. It’s my new favorite neutral.) (I’m lying. I’m thinking I need two; one in gray and maybe… the red?)
Reviews are mixed, but really, for $20? I’ll chance it.
Here, make it even better—try coupon code C4XLD4LP for an additional 10% off.
Now that’s a great way to start the week.
You’ll leave the house for this one
Remember when Groupon did the whole in-store Gap thing, and it was such a good discount, even those of us who always shop online were willing to slog to the mall to save some dough?
Check it out: Today Groupon is offering a nation-wide deal of $40 to The Body Shop for just $20. The only catch is, you have to redeem it in-store, not online.
Is $20 off luscious skin and body products enough to get you out of your pajamas and out to the mall? I can’t speak for you, of course, but with the holidays coming, I can tell you it’s definitely enough for me. And you know how I feel about my pajamas.
Saturday deals
Gooooood morning! There’s nothing quite like a lazy morning after a week of getting up entirely too early. Ahhhh.
Want a little giggle this morning? Check out the new Amazon Holiday Toy List feature, chock-full of the items Amazon is sure you’re going to want for kids this year. It’s, uh, quite the assortment. (Perfect for the person thinking, “Hmmm, should I buy that baby some building blocks or an ant farm…? I can’t decide!”)
You know I can barely even say the word “jeggings” without it catching in my throat, but if you’ve caught legging-mania (or—more likely—have a teenager who has, check out the assortment of buy-1-get-1-free options in today’s Target Daily Deals. Lace! Denim! Sequins! Zippers! Every possible monstrosity option is there, and they’re all cheap.
If you need some shoes to recover from leggings-pa-looza, this weekend Crocs is offering 30% off with coupon code DEALMAP30. Shipping is free with code secondchance, and both codes stack and work in the Outlet. And if Crocs aren’t your thing, well, there’s plenty on sale at 6pm.com, of course.
The One-Day Sale at Macy’s is on today—try to act surprised. Heh. If you prefer something a bit less fancy, hop on over to Sierra Trading Post and use coupon code ALVOCT2KX for 20% off your order.
This is kind of cool: Buy $30+ worth of LEGO from Meijer, and they’ll throw in a very cool lego big/playmat ($13 value) for free. Looks like the Lego is shipping for free, too. (Free item appears in your cart with qualifying purchase. Like magic.)
That should keep you busy for a little bit, and later we shall have this week’s winners and I’ll see if maybe we need to have a weekend contest. Depends on how much coffee I have, probably.
Girls’ fleece, without getting fleeced
[Insert standard “Old Navy, I wish I knew how to quit you” disclaimer here. You don’t mind, do you?]
Take a look in the Girls’ Bargains section at Old Navy today and you’ll find a whole assortment of girls’ quarter-zip microfleece tops for just $5 apiece. There’s other bargains to be had as well, of course, but I love their microfleece and $5 a pop kind of stopped me in my tracks. (Looks like all patterns are well-stocked right now, too.) I guess we have to apologize to the boys, though; they can have fleece vests for $5 apiece, but no arms for them! Bad boys!
Save another 15% with coupon code ONTREAT, too. $4.25 for a fleece! I can’t get ’em any cheaper than that at Goodwill.
Get Wired, for less
Didn’t someone mention this in yesterday’s magazine discussion…? Right now Daily Steals is offering a year of Wired magazine for just $3! The retail price is $50, so won’t you look generous if you get this as a gift for someone? (Answer: Yes. Totally.)
Wired is a fun read for your favorite technophile, and at just $3, it’s really hard to go wrong.
Good morning, sunshine
One more week down! I try to be as chipper as possible when I wake the kids on Fridays. It confuses them. (Try it; it’s fun!)
Santa has officially started shopping: See this Razor A3 Kick Scooter at Amazon? If you select the color red and then look in the “More Buying Choices” sidebar on the right, it’s just $16.99 direct from Amazon (and around $50 everywhere else). Booyah.
The Amazon Friday Sale is full of… coconut water. I would like to know who is drinking all of that. Fortunately, it’s also full of discounted Tazo teas, which I love.
Today’s featured deal at 6pm.com is up to 70% off all things BCBG, so you know I’m scanning through just in case there’s anything I need to tell you about. Or anything that accidentally falls into my cart. Plenty of other deals abound, too—The North Face, Florsheim, and yesterday’s deals are running for another day, too, looks like.
Are you out of Restaurant.com certificates? Use coupon code PUMPKIN through the weekend for 80% off, netting you $25 for dining for just $2. That’s $23 of found money to use towards a babysitter, dessert, or a new pair of shoes. (Priorities: I has them.)
I keep forgetting to check the Overstock Deal of the Day, but then when I do I’m usually pleasantly surprised. If you’ve been wanting one of those mesh-back office chairs and wondering why they cost so much more than leather ones, I still have no idea why they’re so expensive, but today you can get a really nice ergonomic one at Overstock for $140, which is a good $60 cheaper than I’ve seen it anywhere else. (Though it looks like this deal is slated to change over to sheets sometime today. Confusing.)
Check out today’s Madison Groupon to get $50 to Mixbook for just $15! That’d take care of your holiday cards or that photo book you’ve been meaning to make.
More deals coming up later, but that should keep you busy for a bit, at least….
Yummy Earth for the grownups
You know how every time there’s a deal on Yummy Earth lollipops at Amazon I’m all excited, because they don’t have any yucky additives and I can very nearly feel good about feeding my kids candy? Well, the truth is that when I buy one of those giant bags of pops I sneak the pomegranate ones sometimes. Or the mango ones. Or really, any flavor. (They’re good!)
But today I’m positively swooning—check out the Yummy Earth Organic Hot Chili Pops. These are not your kids’ lollipops; chili is mixed with either lime or mango to make an addictive, much more grown-up flavor (if the reviews are to be believed). It’s marked marked at $11.72, but save 20% with coupon code SEPYUMMY and then buy via Subscribe & Save to save another 15% and get free shipping.
Six packages of organic lollies for $7.61 shipped, and there’s not even any danger that I’ll have to share with my kids. They don’t like spicy things. (Insert evil cackle here.)
Please weigh in: Magazines for kids?
Pretty Theresa writes:
I’m trying to get ready for Christmas, and I have 9 nieces and nephews to buy for. They all have so much STUFF, that I thought magazine subscriptions may be the way to go. I did this for my nephews last year and it was a big hit – they loved getting mail every month, and enjoyed reading the magazines as well (and their sisters were jealous!) In looking on line at the multitude of choices, I can’t decide what’s a good pick – there’s such a large selection. I would like something at least a bit educational, but enjoyable as well. Their ages range from 18 months to 15 years, and while magazines may not be the solution for all of them I’m hoping that it’ll work for at least some. I’ve got girls in preschool, boys in kindergarten, girls in 1st, 3rd and 6th grades and a boy in high school. Do you or your readers have any suggestions?
First, I just want to say that I love that Theresa is doing this. Magazine subscriptions are fabulous gifts for kids with too much stuff, and they foster reading, too. Win!
I have a few suggestions, and then I hope y’all will chime in. read more…
