Mmmmm. . . forget Starbucks
Maybe it’s because the average summer temperature here in Georgia is “Hot Enough To Fry A Dog’s Brain” (anyone remember that commercial? anyone?), but when I stumbled across this deal I was immediately thirsty.
Right now at Amazon, buy any variety of Big Train drink mixes and take $10 off your purchase with coupon code BIGTRAIN through the end of June.
Not only do they sound delicious, you get 12 canisters in an order. Pop those puppies in a pretty bag with some funky straws and you’ve got a great teacher’s gift, no?
It’s a Woot-Off day
Want to be distracted from your work all day long? Okay!
Thanks to Heather for reminding me. Now I can blame her when I don’t get anything done. (Just kidding, Heather! You’re pretty!)
Keep your GPS in arm’s reach
I love my GPS unit. (You already know that; I talk about it constantly, right?) But here’s the thing—I’m not particularly tall, and my car’s windshield is faaaaar away from where I sit. (Don’t ask; I inherited the car.) The result is that when I put Audrey (yes, that’s her name) on her little suction cup bracket, affixed to the windshield, I can barely reach the touch screen.
Now take a look at this: The Bracketron Nav-Mat sits on your dashboard and holds your GPS unit securely, closer to you. At less than $12 I’m thinking that’s a pretty cheap solution to needing to pull over and unbuckle my seatbelt every time I need to touch the screen!
Pampered Chef at less-pampered prices
As anyone who knows me is well aware, I rather loathe the whole home-party paradigm. The pressure! The prices! It’s just not my style.
Nevertheless—because I have friends who don’t share my aversion to these things—I own various “home party” items, and some of them I really, really like. I just don’t like the selling technique.
Well, it turns out that you can buy clearance Pampered Chef items online, which is pretty much shopping nirvana, right there. The prices are reasonable, and you don’t have to chit-chat with a consultant while you make your purchases. Perfect!
Also, I’m here to tell you that I use my Pampered Chef kitchen shears for everything—they cut through chicken and plastic with equal ease—and my Pampered Chef pizza cutter is the best one I’ve ever owned. If you’re considering either of those, I say absolutely go for it. (Especially the shears! So cheap!)
Big Disney savings today
Is today a special occasion? A holiday I’ve forgotten? I have no idea. Maybe it’s International Get Cute Stuff Day! Hey, for whatever reason, today at Disney Shopping they’ve offering 25% off your order with coupon code JUNE25. That’ll work today (June 18th, 2008) only, so hop on it if you’re interested.
Of course, the code doesn’t work in the Outlet (boo), but you can also use coupon code SHIPFOR5 through June 22nd, 2008, to ship your entire order for $5, and you can stack the two coupons.
(It’s not as good as a free trip to Disneyworld, but I rarely find coupons for that.)
Wednesday, all day
Don’t forget to check out the Wednesday Deals at JC Penney; those weird wood sculptures that they were sure I would “also like” from a few weeks ago are featured.
And really, who doesn’t need more weird wood sculptures?
There’s also some nifty-looking silverware and an electric martini shaker, just in case you’re too lazy to shake your own. I guess it’s really true that they have everything at Penney’s….
Yes, again
Hey, let’s not talk about how the dining room is going. In fact, let’s pretend I don’t actually have a dining room. I think that would be prudent, at this point.
Instead, I think I’ll hop on over to Restaurant.com and use coupon code SIZZLING through June 22nd, 2008, to buy some discount restaurant certificates for 50% off. Why, if I’m paying only $5 for each $25 worth of fine dining, that will totally make up for the fact that my venetian plaster appears to have been applied by frenzied armadillos rolling all over the walls.
Right? Right.
It’s the Ultimate Sale
It only happens twice a year, and now’s the time: The Ultimate Sale at Eddie Bauer is on, with big savings on nearly everything. If you’re still on the lookout for a bathing suit be sure to have a peek—their Miraclesuits (and many others) are marked down.
Use coupon code SUMCRQ8 through the end of the month to save an additional 20%, too.
Go do some shopping for me, will you? I have to go put a second coat of plaster on my dining room walls….
Put a little spring (or summer/winter/fall) in your step
There’s one set of concertos that even people who claim not to like classical music almost always love, and that’s The Four Seasons by Vivaldi. It remains one of my very favorites, years after my inadequate attempts to play bits of it on my cello. (Yeah, I was that kid. And then? This one time? At band orchestra camp?)
Today you can download the entire album of Itzhak Perlman and the London Philharmonic Orchestra doing The Four Seasons for just $4.99. This isn’t just a great value, this is your chance to put something on your iPod that goes with nearly every occasion. And isn’t there some research out there that says listening to classical music makes kids smarter? I think there is.
I’m pretty sure that someone told me that at orchestra camp.
Free food for Fido
Purina wants to give you a 30-day supply of dog or cat food absolutely free. Just call 800-521-6300 and go through the automated prompts to select which one you’d like to receive.
Don’t have a pet? Consider doing it anyway, then drop the food off at your local shelter. It’s good karma.
(Alternatively, you could feed it to the kids when they misbehave, I suppose….)
