Halloween is coming

Can you believe it’s almost October? Craziness. (But, see, I can tell it’s almost October because today it’s only going to be 80 degrees….)

Don’t be caught shopping for a costume at the last minute, wishing you had time to find a better deal. In fact, I think it’s time for a little trip… let your fingers walk on over to today’s Charleston Groupon to grab $30 towards CostumeHUB for just $15. (Look in the righthand sidebar; it’s today’s “side deal.”)

I think that this year I’m going to dress up as Groupon. I’ll simply dress in dollars saved! (Oh, wait. Covering myself in money may lead to people concluding I’m something else entirely. May need to rethink this.)

Go pink, in style

There are a number of reasons why I’m not terribly crazy about the whole “go pink!” aspect of Breast Cancer Awareness/Support, but they have nothing to do with the cause itself, which is, of course, a good one. I know far too many women who’ve had breast cancer.

That said, as we head into October, you’re going to be seeing plenty of “pink” merchandise. Do you buy it for a good cause or do you buy it because you like it? If you’re shopping at Kohls, good news: You can do both! This year they’re offering a line of Kohls Cares for the Cause by Vera Wang merchandise. Every item is just $5 or $10, with 100% of the proceeds going towards breast cancer research. A great cause, and a great designer, united. Love it.

Use coupon code SHIPFREE (today only! expires tomorrow!) to ship any order for free. Kohls card holders can also use code FUN15KC for an additional 15% off.

Happy pinking!

It’s a good time to be cool

Y’all know how I feel about Justice; I secretly believe they add crack to their clothing to make little girls beg and plead for just this top or that skirt because it’s the coolest thing ever, Mom! This makes me suspicious. Not so suspicious that I won’t bask in my moment of glory when two things happen at the same time, though. Those two things are:
1) They have a big clearance sale
and
2) They offer a 40% off code.

Guess what! Today’s a good day; the clearance is full, and coupon code 779 takes 40% off of everything.

They’ve even got Zhu Zhu Pets stuff on sale. You could knock out a little holiday shopping and look like a hero. No need to tell her you got such a good deal—just let her wonder if you were replaced by Alien Pod Mom temporarily.

Second verse, as awesome as the first

Did you miss out on last week’s Soap.com Groupon? Don’t fret—come visit me today and you can scoop one up! That’s right, today’s Atlanta Groupon is, once again, $20 to spend at Soap.com for just $10. (You may have to look in the right sidebar once on that link to get to the deal. I’m seeing several deals for today.)

It’s easy, it’s cheap, and I’m loving that free 2-day shipping on every $25+ order. I may never run out of razorblades again. (Wait… that didn’t come out right….)

Time for a Creek discount

It seems like a while since the last coupon for Coldwater Creek came around. And you know I live for these coupons, because I often find cool stuff when shopping them online, despite the fact that my local store seems to only stock clothing for women age 70 and above. (For real. The difference in merchandise is astounding.)

Anyway, it was definitely time. If you want to go shop, use coupon code WHH7449for 40% off any order. It even works on items in the Outlet, which means you could be scooping up items for about 90% off when all is said and done. Hard to argue with that sort of savings, you know? And who knows, you may find a few gifts in there while picking up a little something-something for yourself.

Mix it, mix it good

Alert (and pretty! don’t forget pretty!) reader Melanie shot me an email this morning to point out that Amazon has the Cuisinart HM-70 7-Speed Hand Mixer available for just under $37. While the “original” price listed is pretty inflated, that’s still a good $10 under what it’s going for anywhere else. And Melanie reports that this model is one of Cooks Illustrated’s best-rated.

This is not an appliance to buy if you’re happy with the $10 hand blender you picked up at Kohls or Target as a doorbuster, by the way. But it is the one to buy if you’ve burned out the motor on a hand blender before. Or more than one, if you were then dumb enough to buy a similarly cheap hand mixer to replace the one you fried, before you wised up and bought a good one. Not that I would know anything about that. Ahem.

(Thanks again, Melanie!)

Possibly the mack daddy of GPS units

Been holding out for the GPS unit that’s all that, a bag of chips, and an ice cream cone? (Wait. You know that’s a metaphor, right? It would be complicated—not to mention messy—if your GPS was made of ice cream.) Today’s Amazon Gold Box may hold the key to all of your GPS dreams: It’s a widescreen Magellan Roadmate with lifetime maps and traffic.

The lifetime maps mean you’ll never pay for an upgrade, and it’ll always stay current, no matter how much construction goes on. The traffic alerts mean added information in metro areas. And of course it’s got all of the features you want in a GPS—spoken street names, multi-destination routing, etc.—and the giant 5-inch touch screen means it’s perfect even in a larger vehicle like a truck. (Or it’s perfect for your favorite elderly driver who is a little worried that “that contraption” is going to be too complicated.)

The Gold Box price means that today you get it all for $150 shipped, even though ordinarily, the version without the maps is $200. Nice.

For my gluten-free friends

Need to stop up on gluten-free flour? I’m a big fan of Pamela’s Baking Mix, but sometimes I just need plain flour for a recipe. So I’m doing a little happy dance that right now I can snag some Bob’s Red Mill Rice Flour on the cheap at Amazon—the Organic Brown Rice Flour is just $9.37 shipped (when you buy via Subscribe & Save) for 4 24-oz packages, and the Organic White Rice Flour is $9.71 shipped for the same amount.

If you can eat wheat, I’m happy for you. If you can’t, these are great prices on quality flours. The white rice flour in particular doesn’t have that oh-this-is-gritty-it-must-be-gluten-free thing going on. I’m off to buy some right now.

Saturday deals

Good morning! Are you having an awesome weekend? We have family visiting and it’s been so much fun ’round here the last couple of days, I am probably going to have to endure repeated cries of “It’s boring! No one is playing with me!” after they leave. I think the kids might be upset, too.

Anyway! How about a few deals for the weekend?

Okay, listen. Please don’t laugh. But yesterday I watched the Dr. Oz show (with my mother-in-law! I had never seen it before!) and he did a really interesting segment on the supplements every woman should be taking, and because I’m me, I became irrationally convinced that my bones are going to crumble into dust if I don’t start taking calcium. Heh. Anyway, worth a look, and it reminded me that the current buy-1-get-2-free promotion at Puritan’s Pride is over at the end of the month. Just sayin’. (Also just sayin’: I picked up a 9-month supply of everything he suggested for under $50. Not bad.)

Today’s Amazon Gold Box Deal featured a Scotch Laminator for about $18. Would that be the coolest teacher gift ever or what? [Edited to add: If you also buy this pack of laminating pouches to go with it (be sure to choose Amazon as the seller), you can then redeem this $20 rebate!]

There’s new clothing markdowns at 6pm.com this weekend, though I’m trying not to look. Trying. Trying. Darn it.

I’m kind of digging this LL Bean Adventure Gift Set; it’s a water bottle, flashlight, and multitool for just $15. Automatic free shipping, too.

There’s still time to grab the Pittsburgh Groupon for $100 worth of Picaboo photo books for just $25! (I love these online deals that Groupon has been doing.)

They’re having a Sweater Event over at Old Navy, with free shipping on $75+ and 20% off any order with coupon code ONSAVE20. I could totally go for some new sweaters if the temperature here would ever drop below 90. Ahem.

Oneida redid their website, and to celebrate they’re offering 20% off your order this weekend—just use coupon code NEW20.

I’m off to continue playing hostess. Hopefully that will not involve any more daytime television that makes me worry about my bone health, but I guess we’ll see….

Friday, all day

Good morning! I think today is going to be one of those unplug-and-go-see-the-world kinds of days. I need one. And I hear there’s an entire world outside of the Internet. I’ll have to report back and let you know if it’s true.

Before I go, though, I have a few goodies for you….

There’s a few different options for Sonia Kashuk makeup brushes in the Target Daily Deals, and between the discount and the free shipping (not to mention, not having to walk into the store, where you’re sure to find “just a few more things”), it’s a great way to grab ’em.

A bevy of boots at $50 or less at 6pm.com today? Yes, please!

Today and tomorrow at Kohls, coupon code FORUONLY takes 20% off your total, and code SHIPFREE ships your order for free. (Oh how I have missed those free shipping codes….)

Ready to get your Groupon on? Check your local deal, or go for one of the national ones—today you can hop over to San Diego to get $25 worth of Xoopii reusable bags for $10, or head to Queens for $30 of GelaSkins for just $15. (Why, yes, Groupon is my new BFF. Why do you ask?)

Over in the Amazon Friday Sale, we see an abundance of… coffee. Try to contain your shock. They also have a decent deal on Mrs. May’s Tropical Fruit Trio Bars (my favorite kind)—just $16.15 shipped for a case of 24 when you buy via Subscribe & Save. (Not the very cheapest I’ve seen, but close. And these are yummy, high-protein, gluten-free bars.) We are also big fans of these Oskri cranberries, which put shriveled-up Craisins to shame.

Today’s Gold Box Deal is the Ultimate Collector’s Edition of The Wizard of Oz on Blu-ray, just in case you need everything there is to know about Dorothy and her friends.

That should keep you busy for a little while, right?
