Here’s some Amazon deals before I head out
I am unchaining myself this morning to go have my eyes examined; apparently all of this squinting at Amazon is taking its toll. (The things I do for you….)
Anyway, here’s a few deals to keep you busy until I return!
These Rescue Pets dogs freak me out a little, but kids love them and at $6 apiece they’re a great deal. (Plus, they have a mode called “sad whimper” and maybe if you teach your kids to shut it off, the next time they whine you can feel their bellies while saying, “I can’t find the switch to shut off your sad whimper mode!”)
More freaky dogs: Interactive Nintendogs!
I am seriously considering buy a time tracker and putting it in my kids’ bathroom. There has got to be a better way to curtail spacing out in the shower than me yelling “Hello? Anybody in there??”
$4.79 for a great baby bath toy. That’d be a great shower gift to have on hand in your gift closet.
I spy with my little eye… eight different Hot Wheels playsets that are 50% – 70% off. (Read the reviews, of course—a few of them sound like duds.)
And to cap it all off, today only they’re having ten Home and Garden spotlight deals, which include things like a deeply discounted Scooba (Scooba!) and a 9-foot prelit Christmas tree for under a hundred bucks.
Oh, Amazon. Truly you know just how to woo me.
A few words about Zappos
It’s no secret that I pink puffy heart Zappos. The truth is that I have affiliate relationships with half a dozen shoe stores, but it’s Zappos that I recommend 90% of the time, because they are quite simply the best. Their customer service is amazing, the ordering, pricematching, and (if need be) return processes couldn’t be simpler, and I am always left with a warm fuzzy feeling after I shop with them. In fact, I nearly always buy from Zappos (with pricematching, because I’m like that and you know I still need to save some dough) when getting shoes for myself or the kids.
You may have noticed that there’s some buzz going ’round the internet about how Zappos has changed their pricematching policy. Read on to set your mind at ease. read more…
Joy to the Wallet, indeed
Have you been following the 12 Days of Christmas promos over at Sierra Trading Post? Today (December 13th, 2007) is “Joy to the Wallet,” with an additional 20% off ‘most clothing.
Plus, orders over $75 get free shipping automatically.
Plus, orders over $150 earn free gift cards ($25 for each $150 spent).
Plus, you can use coupon code SPUH57 to take another 12% off your $50+ order.
Are you feeling the joy now? I sure am.
Prices are dropping, get in or get adjustments
I can scarcely keep track of all the Amazon deals, but I hope everyone who’s buying is using Refund Please to track their purchases for further price drops. Whenever something has a price drop within 30 days of shipping to you (not from the order date, which is important if it takes them a long time to ship), they will price adjust for you, no questions asked.
Anyway. If you scooped up some of the Play Along Club dolls the other day when I mentioned them at $7.99, they’ve dropped to just $6 apiece. Get those price adjustments! (Or if you were on the fence, consider this your sign.)
I myself have been trying really, really hard not to give in to the Blue Man Group percussion tubes, but they are now 70% off, and I am growing weak….
And there it is, on sale and everything
You know, after writing this post and mentioning my love of The Princess Bride, yesterday, it occurred to me to go look it up on Amazon.
I mean, everything else is on sale right now. Why not that?
And what do you know: The 20th Anniversary Edition is nearly half off right now. (Pssst! My husband gave me a copy of The Princess Bride for my first birthday that we were together. It’s truly a can’t-go-wrong kind of gift.)
Restaurant.com just got even prettier
I know that I just posted about the latest promotion over at Restaurant.com, but it just got so much better it’s crazy.
First, you can get $25 worth of dining goodness for just $5 with the 50% off coupon code STOCKING—which you already knew.
Second, every time you do that between now and midnight on December 13th (which, sorry, I cannot tell from the email whether they mean midnight tonight or tomorrow… I’d suggest ordering sooner rather than later), you’ll also receive a $20 Dale & Thomas Popcorn certificate. All for $5 (and they take Paypal, too). Sweet!
Edited to add: The Dale & Thomas certificate will show up in your account within 24 hours (don’t fret that you’re not seeing anything about it when purchasing). At D&T, use coupon code GIFT to ship two or more items for free.
Amazon cannot possibly be making any money
I have to share this because it’s too funny to keep to myself.
So you know how a few days ago one of the gazillion Amazon deals I shared was deeply discounted cookie sheets on the 4-for-3 deal?
If you know me, you know I likes me some cookies. You may or may not also know that I’ve been baking on some cookie sheets that were a wedding gift… from my first wedding. (Let’s do the math: Hello, 14-year-old cookie sheets!) So I went ahead and picked up 4 new cookie sheets for a grand total of $18.
The first funny thing is that I didn’t pay much attention to the sheet size, and each sheet is easily the size of two of my old sheets. So I now have enough cookie sheets to bake for the entire eastern seaboard.
The second funny thing is that Amazon sent each sheet in a separate box. This is one of the things that drive me insane about Amazon, all the boxes. But recall what I said above—the sheets are really large. And boxes are huge (easily large enough for 8 sheets apiece). So I opened the door for my kids this afternoon and there was a stack of boxes there taller than they are. And the kids got very excited, and were crushed to discover the tower of boxes was… really only four cookie sheets.
Linens N Things deals
Pretty reader Niki reminded me that I had completely forgotten to mention that Linens N Things is doing a 24 Deals of Christmas promotion. There’s just a few days left, and the featured items also have free shipping.
Additionally, take 20% any order with coupon code 223823997733. (Free shipping looks to be going through December 15th, 2007, but the coupon code is good through Christmas Eve.) If you decide to buy after the free shipping ends, remember that if you ship to a local store and pick up, that’s free, too.
Christmas dress dilemma
The lovely Susan writes:
Mir,
I love your site because I hate shopping and you basically do it for me!I’ve got a problem I need help with. My 4-year-old daughter has nothing to wear on Christmas day. I cannot find a simple, holiday dress for her. I know – I’m waiting until the last minute. Still, what is the deal? We don’t like frilly, tulle-y, satiny things around here. We like plain and simple, but pretty. Her dress last year came from Land’s End and it was just a plain, red, velvety dress – tank-like at the top, to the shins with a princess waist. They’ve let me down this year, though, as they have nothing we like. I have found one or two possibles, but they’re way expensive – especially for a one- or two-time wear.
Can you help???
(I just realized while typing this that I’ve landed my dream job—I shop for other people. It’s always fun to come to work, if you’re me!) Anyway, yes! Yes, Susan, I think I can help. read more…
Toasty warm
Ahhh… nice and toasty. I could be talking about flannel, I guess, but actually I’m talking about the Georgia weather. 74 degrees, people. In December. The cognitive dissonance is making my head hurt.
Oh, alright. Let’s talk about flannel, instead. I know we took a look at flannel duvet covers the other day, but I realized I hadn’t pointed out any coordinating flannel sheets. Me, I like sheets in solid colors (and then covers in patterns), possibly because I’m just weird that way, but also because sheets take more abuse and washing and I just think solids hold up better. If you want solid flannel sheets, check out these ones, because the reviews are—amazingly—excellent, and it just doesn’t get any cheaper than that. I mean, really. A king sheet set for $14.99? It brings a little tear to my eye.
